Impossible,  all first batch owners will break even before the next batch ships.

I was batch 1 but I didn't get mine until the 3rd shipment of batch 1. I missed the second shipment by 2 minutes (FML). Anyways...

I've been mining since June 26th, but only about 25 full days.

Paid: $2078 US / 0.21379627 BTC  [$9719.533460523 BTC Value @ Time of Purchase]
Import Fees: $65 (USD)
PSU: $40 (USD) - I already had the PSU, but for the sake of break even calculations I'll put it in
Total: $2183 USD

That said, I repurchased my 0.21379627 BTC when BTC was @ $6741 so technically I only paid..

Paid: $1441
Import Fees: $65
PSU: $40
Total: $1546

I've been tracking my profits daily. I calculate breakeven in two ways.

1 - Historical which is based on my average Zen/Day over the last 7 days.
2 - Instant which is based on only the current days Zen/Day.

@$2183@$1546
Historical40 Days20 days
Instant34 Days17 Days

So based on these numbers I will personally breakeven sometime between 8/7 & 8/20 given that I expect my daily profitability to go down. This falls either right before or right as the second batch ships. This can change a lot based on the price of Zen. I've been traveling and haven't had time to figure out if I should switch given the recent reduction in the block reward for miners. Will consider that this weekend.

I should also note that I am using my Z9 Mini to provide heat to my water heaters heat pump which has reduced my daily water heating cost by $0.55 - $0.75 depending on the day, but on average $0.61 / day. So at my electricity rates, the Z9 only costs me $0.40 / day to run.

My Zen/Day has been going down steadily.

I am debating if I should buy the 2nd batch, since I have the $250 coupons?! What are you guys doing with the coupons? I have free electricity included in my apartment cost so I would be happy if I could just ROI in  half a year. But I am afraid those will become doorstoppers eventually?!

With free electricity and coupon i'd give you the green light....sounds like zcash is not gonna fork now so you'll always have a coin to mine.  Even though all the z9 ever made(and the faster more effecient ones coming out) will be on it with you, you should be good with the free power and the low consumption on this device to at least ROI and not get your apartment supervisor angry at the high power bills(for awhile anyway).  But yeah this guy will be a big paper weight in 3-6 months, so if you expect your free power situation to change i'd say no.

What are you talking about? Zcash just did a vote at their Montreal conference and will be putting ASIC resistance on the back burner. https://www.coindesk.com/zcash-governance-panel-shoots-research-asic-resistance/
By the time they get around to it, ASIC mining will have a strong foothold and the GPU miners will go searching elsewhere for the few scraps left; if not shutting down entirely. Since most of the mining hash will be derived from ASICS, I am sure they will get increasing push back from their ASIC mining community. Who is going to go along with turning their coin making machines into bricks?

Same reason s9s are becoming big paper weights...too many s9s and better newer models coming.  Also I’d expect all equihash coins to fork including zcash eventually so ya big paper weight one way or another.

Yep, do not underestimates asic manufacturers such as bitmain's ability to spam the market. Considering it takes very low electricity to even make a couple of dollars a month, majority of these machines will not break even I believe.

Mine for a Bit
Did anyone else get this email, if so, when are they to ship----or----was it a scam?

For 1st batch purchasers, the coupons "shipped" quite some time ago.

If you ordered 2nd batch and are expecting a free 2nd miner, you're at least a month away according to the email you pasted.

Ahhhhh, I understand.  Thank You!

If I were launching a new coin and I wanted instant hashpower, I'd choose the current equihash params and do something like komodo with cross chain proving to bitcoin. Easy to get people interested in mining your coin if they cant mine anything else lol
I would think this too except look at the Blake2b algo. There is literally nothing to mine on that other than SC. I would jump my A3 on anything else if I could. Really not sure why nobody else has made anything else for that algo, plenty of existing hardware currently going to waste that could support something new.

Batch-1 buyers @$1999 who used their $250 coupons to get a batch-2 for $600 may break-even at the same time. Sure batch-1 started mining 2 months earlier: but they also paid more than 3x as much. $1999+PSU+shipping+brokerage can mean they're still 4m from payoff: at which time that $600 batch-2 will have been mining for 2 months as well.

I think batch-1+2 buyer will be in good shape: everyone making $$ before Xmas.

The Z9 and A9 only represented a 10x-20x improvement in power efficiency. That's less damaging than 100x.

This delivered around end june right. So, it has nearly been a month.

Wat was the original cost, 1.9k for 1 piece was it? I am wondering if it will break even.
Batch 1 went for $1999. Mine was delivered on June 25

First batch will easily break even and then some.
What makes you so sure of this? nobody but Bitmain knows how many batch 2 Z9 minis/batch 1 non-minis are to be shipped, combined with Innosilicon's Asics now coming online. Not to mention that most of the Equihash coins are forking away from asics, leaving a much smaller slice of the pie to fight over. I still do believe it has good odds to ROI, but I don't see how you're concluding that it's a guarantee.

I think they are a decent purchase.

They have been out for a while and there is also the Innosilicion ASICs out and the hashrate hasn't doubled or trippled yet.

My guess is that many of the AMD and Nvidia miners are switching and in place there is an ASIC that takes over.

Its not as bad as with the X11 algo when Bitmain released the D3, that quickly destroyed the profitability. Same with the SC ASIC miner they released.

Hi,

I’m interested in buying two of those Z9 with one PSU.

Heard about Zcash fork will be discuss in April 2019, so right now zcash coin won’t be ASIC resistant. That’s a good deal for asic miners .

My question is, can we calculate the profits in the next months assuming that thousand of Z9 will be added to the Hashrate ?

The hashrate will go down to 3$/day before April?

Thanks for all!

Yes if you take 3 z9 mini and overclock them you can easily reach 40k. So is it 3 z9 mini glued together for the price of 4 or really 4 z9 mini?

More like 4 z9 minis glued together. Now overclock that. I'm pretty sure the z9 overclocked will do well above 40k

It's the same chips. This isn't unexpected, and there's nothing wrong with it. The Z9 mini is a smaller version of the Z9, why are so many people having trouble with this? One is designed for the average user, the other for farms.

The form factor looks like 2 minis glued together. I'm quite skeptical about its overclocking potential.

Yep.  I'm in this camp too.  I am going to predict right now that each board has 8 chips (twice the mini) for 24 chips total.  At 40k sols that's 1.6k sols per chip.  Right now my mini gets 16.5k with 12 chips so 1.3k per chip.  And the limiting factor seems to be voltage.  Getting 1.6k per chip seems pretty realistic when you can already get 1.3 on the mini.

If the double size board added just a couple extra chips for a total of 10 chips per board then you would get 30 chips doing 40k sols or 1.3k per chip exactly which is right where my mini tops out in OC.  Either way that doesn't leave much room of OC.

Given that the board is only twice as big as the mini it's pretty hard to suspect that there would be room for much more than twice as many chips.

Its a trick to get rid of Z9 Mini stock. Once Mini is sold old, this will drop in price to $2000.

I almost bought one. But then noticed that Inno's ship July so the global hashrate will be much higher even if I'm the first that gets his hand on a Z9.
What I did last year was buy a miner then resell it. Just one not more to dry the supply like some do. But this is too expensive to take the risk. I profited on the L3+ about 2k euro but I went even on the D3 last year. If this was about 2kUSD I'd buy it.

Plus I'm hearing is just 2 OCed minis. Getting 2 minis for the price of 4 is a pretty bad deal.
