In the current bitmain world, if I was a crypto dev, I would create a currency that would hard fork it's algorithm every 6 months.

Bitcoin gold just got attacked by 51%. Still think gpu is safe?

How's that even related to GPU?

If he was then I apologize. I removed it. When there are tons of quotes things get confusing.

-snip-

I do hope that there will be some coins that are profitable that GPU's can mine.  My biggest concern today with the ASIC miners is that one company has taken a monopoly position and that is pretty uncomfortable.  They have God like power over crypto and have not handled their God like responsibilities very well.  So we see wreckage all over the place.

Bitmain is not the only place we have centralization in crypto.  It is an illusion that any of this is decentralized today and only appears to be concentrating even more.

Very well and objectively said. More people need to read your post.

I completely agree and although it's a bit off topic from ASICs, one inherent problem with all this rapid development in crypto is we forget that true decentralization is decreasing daily. The more that these for-profit companies promote and develop crypto, the more powerful they become. Sadly, i don't see how there is much that we as "regular" miners can do. Any ideas?

Maybe knitting might be a better hobby for him. Clearly cant handle standard computer evolution. Like it hasnt happened to any other electronic based product since electricity was discovered. Guys an idiot. Nothing more to be said.

Sounds like you can't handle building a GPU mining rig.  You admitted your brain cells are lacking by your own insanity.  I see now why an ASIC suits you.  Simply plug and play.

Dude are you saying building a GPU rig is hard? If you can put legos together you can put together a GPU rig. You're not in an elite club because you can build a computer are you for real...

Are YOU for real? Why dont you read the conversation before you post something like this....You just look stupid jumping into a conversation you dont know a damn thing about. Especially when you try to insult someone..... Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

btw...If it were so easy to build them, no one would be able to sell rigs online....use your head bro before you post. Putting together legos compared to building a multi gpu is an idiotic comparison.
This guy was defending you...  Huh

Could run 20 of these safely on a 30 amp 240 volt circuit.

20 would use 25 amps.

Building a gpu rig isn't as simple as legos.  You usually have the drivers problems and crappy mining software to deal with that make it "a lot of fun".  Once you finally get a gpu rig up and running I try not to breath on them.  If you made the mistake like I did on some of mine and ran Windows 10 it is really a giant pain to keep them from forcing updates on you, and if they force an update on you anything goes as far as drivers still working etc.

So GPU rigs are a pain in the @ss, half of my stuff is still GPU rigs.  Most that were Windows have migrated to Linux builds which is a lot better now that the RX and Nvidia support has largely been sorted out and you can grab a prebuilt OS ready for mining.  So it is a lot closer today to set it and forget it mining.

But why do all of that?  My main reason I still have these is the flexibility to mine other things, but as we can clearly see the places to do that with a GPU are quickly vanishing.  ASIC's and programmable chip rigs do it better, faster, less power, and even cheaper than my GPU rigs.  Just for economics sake alone these purpose built miners make more sense.

300 watts lol. Its almost too good to be true.

3 of those is less than a S9

Can't wait to fire these up

Power consumptionwise? Try 4...
4.5 actually.

He sure got me lol. Whatever shall I do. He doesnt believe i can build a GPU rig! Might as well start closing up my company. What a pathetic troll. You are probably the worst troll on this forum. I  really hope you arnt 50 like your profile suggests. You should have better things to do at that age. Such a sad life.

In about 3 weeks shipping of the Z9's should begin.
No need to feed him meanwhile.
When we get them online and connected and mining we can share our experience again how good it is to mine 10k sol with 300W :-)

Hell I'm only a network engineer, and right now all I have is an old GPU rig running, (but I have 3 Z9's on order).

You know, he's right.  My 1st home computer was an Apple ][, and so the constant upgrade process began.  So went the same with Intel products.

You can't lock out progress just because you don't want your GPUs to become outdated.  Sure, coins can change algos, and then what happens, some one will come up with a miner for it.
