You Don't Bitcoin 'till You Mint Coin
About adult Content on Bitmit.

I wanted to show bitmit to my family the other day, but then I remember some of the adult content on there.
They would find that offensive. I'm sure there are many other potential/future customers that may also find it offensive.
Today, a lot of dildos for sale.

It would be nice if all this was buried a layer. Maybe only those posts show up after an account is made and then the user specifically disabled a "filter". Or some other mechanism. I've put a lot of stuff for real cheap to help promote the site and bitcoin, but I now hesitate to refer people to the site.

Please consider.

The order is still marked as received.

I encountered something else. I tried to make a bid for 0.1BTC on this auction:
https://bitmit.net/en/trade/i/2199-24h-auction-16gb-extra-dropbox-space
0.1BTC was the starting bid, and no one but me has yet placed any bid. Still, I couldn't bid 0.1BTC, the system told me I had to make a minimum bid of 0.2 BTC. So, I did, and the minimum bid is now displayed as 0.2 BTC.

This strikes me as an error of some kind. Shouldn't I be able to bid 0.1BTC if that's the starting bid? Also, even if I bid 0.2BTC, shouldn't the price still be 0.1BTC until someone else makes a higher bid?

@Global BTC. No security flaw, only a display error, I fixed it.

Something weird has happened with an order of mine. The customer bought an item a few days ago, but hasn't paid for it yet. The item has been marked as shipped (but not by me). The shipping date is 1970-01-01, 01:00 am. The item has also been marked as recived, 2012-04-10, 03:31 pm. Order number 1373. Could you take a look at that?

When Bitmit first came on the scene, I took a look at it and found, then, too many sellers using stock photos to hawk their wares which, in my opinion, raises a red flag. Now, several months later, I just spent close to half an hour on the site to see if anything has changed. It sure has! A hell of a lot more products for sale within a myriad of categories. But now the concern has become more rampant. How is that many sellers, ones who embrace technology, don't use cameras to take pictures of their merchandise, having to revert to copy & paste images from the internet?

Bitmit looks like a fine company with a slick-looking, functional site, but until I start seeing the majority of products offered by sellers showing images of their wares that are not gleaned from the internet, I'll have to pass for the time being.

The majority? That's bullshit. Don't buy from people who use stock photos?

There's a lot of auctions without pics, but most of them are digital items.

I have a feature request for short-lived auction, i.e 12-24 hours.

This would allow people like me to do short-lived promotions on seperate sites, inviting "bursts" of new page hits / users for bitmit.

Thoughts?

I would also like that feature.

Hey, do you think there's some room for a freelancer like me to work on smallish feature on your site?

If you choose "Items from.." and click "remember" you will see only items from your country on the whole site. Even only categories with items from your country.

I'd like to be able to select my "ship to country" and see only the inventory available for shipment to me.

You can.

I bought several items via Bitmit a couple months ago. I now own the 'Bitcoin accepted here' plaque that's so often featured in Bitcoin stories, bought some Bitberries, the mini solar car, and some coupons for free Wendy's frosty ice creams.

I made those purchases partly because I was interested in the items but also because I wanted to see how Bitmit worked and how strong the sellers were. I've had a couple of experiences where someone didn't pay or where a significant delay was involved which I can only attribute to it being early days in the site and that none of the sellers are depending on the sales for their livelihood.

Outside the site I just bought some girl scout cookies and have some candy on the way. I think those sellers, if they become regular sellers, will want to have Bitmit help with their transactions mainly for the escrow and reputation features.

The site works great and I'm sure it will improve along with the strength, experience, and seriousness of both buyers and sellers on the site.

Cheers,

weex

Hi tosaki, I think you're doing a great job with Bitmit.  It seems to be picking up in activity.  It is much better than the old BiddingPond.  Keep up the good work!

@IIOII, quite a good idea.

@Global BTC, I am working on this.

In about 4-6 weeks I have more time and I am going to implement new features (shop system, basket etc..)  and I will also try to get new users to Bitmit who have never heard of Bitcoin yet.

I think Bitmit lacks buyers at the moment (probably due to Bitcoin hoarding Roll Eyes).

Proposal: Motivate buying activities.

Possible Method: Offer a prize (maybe just 10 BTC would do it).

Implementation: For each bought item the buyer automatically acquires a lottery ticket (at no additional cost).
Random payout within a period of a month or so.

Just to throw in some ideas to get more activity to the market. Quite an implementation effort though (maybe team up with bitlotto?).

ID verification:   The user has not verified his identity yet.
I have a feeling this text might be scaring buyers away, escrow service or not. Until the possibility to verify your identity has been implemented, maybe you should remove it? You could also rephrase it to something like "ID verification has not yet been implemented".

Same as almost everywhere else. For better or worse, I've started keeping my gov't-issued BS on my desktop because I have to submit it so often when using BTC.  Undecided
