Probably guys who're running Bitmixer earned huge profit from this service. Obviously, they are modest and they are not greedy.
Although I think there is something else behind it, something they did not tell us. it's a strange decision for me they didn't to sell the service at least

They probably earning huge profit but the people whose willing to join lately wasn't given a chance to enjoy the profit which other people having lately. Nice thing about it they really providing complete payments to those every members who joined. Eventually we have no updates yet if they're will be starting again with their mixing services, hopefully those investors will have another chances again so that profit will bebefit everybody in terms of good btc amounts.
They won't start new business under the name of Bitmixer, they closed it and this project is finished, ultimate source profit is destroyed for their own safety and I think that's smartest decision. Maybe they will start new business with another name and will be more smarts to protect theirselves on high level.

Also the reason of closing Bitmixer was seizing of famouse tor websites because almost every bitcoin was coming from bitmixer, isn't it still clear for everyone?

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that Bitmixer closing down was related to the law enforcement takedown of Hansa, Alphabay and BTC-e. The timing is just too obvious. I have no doubt it was a cash cow. I think that mixer services are best off developing their businesses over ~2 years or so, banking profits and disappearing. Much longer than that, and you are asking for a completed investigation by law enforcement agencies. There may not be good legal precedent, but I am sure the US government would argue that tumbler services are conspiring to launder money.

I don't think that way. Even without those famous DarkNet Markets, they would still get a lot of traffic and bitcoins per day. The proof of this is the number of mixers that launched since the BitMixer's closure - which are getting a fairly amount of users - and the post on the closing announcement in which he said the mixer was still profitable.

Remember that bitmixer was the only one of the old mixers that closed down. So it was likely some sort of individual issue that only bit mixer faced and not some universal problems that all mixers should expect to face.

I disagree. Why do you think the Chinese government is finally cracking down, shutting down all the exchanges? Because BTC/cryptocurrency are going mainstream, and they can no longer ignore the problem. That's why we saw a joint global effort to shut down Alphabay, Hansa and BTC-e.

Governments are realizing that cryptocurrencies are here to stay. So they have no choice but to target the darknet markets (and therefore mixers) for law enforcement. We will never know why Bitmixer shut down, but I'd say there is a very good chance that it was due to government pressure. That applies to all mixers to varying degrees.

I got the feeling that they were pressured by the government agencies to really shutdown their business. And I don't think its business related. I think they shutdown prior to raid on Alphabay being takedown. Coincidence? I don't think so. It's just sad to see them go as they are most trusted mixing services for years. I have used their service and I bet most of us here do as well.

Well lately a lot of tumbling services has started to popup, its a good thing for us. At least we have alternatives and it remains to be seen how each and everyone can pitch itself to the consumer as trusted and complete anonymous.

Maybe it is. Upon closing their service, they encouraging their competitors to shutdown their service too.

I hope our competitors will hear our message and will close their services too. Very soon this kind of activity will be considered as illegal in most of countries.

Well at least we have some slight clear insights about what's really the caused based on their last responds at their farewell thread.

Indeed. They are here in the business for making money and indeed they have succeeded. But it was a immediate decision that most of us was caught off guard. Well suspicions arises when their wallet was not filled in and some of the signature campaigners didn't get their payment which is very strange because they have been paying on time. Then our thought came into reality when they announced that they are closing their services and made a sudden U-turn and claim that this services or activity is illegal. They are just afraid of divulging the real reason behind the closure, but most of us here have one thought in mind.

All I see as reasons people are making for bitmixer are purely speculations as no one knows the real reason why it happened. Businesses have started and closed down at some point which its not always due to loss making. In the case of Bitmixer, they ran a good race and even turn out to be one that shows a foundation for other entrepreneurs in that direction.

For reasons why there are other mixing services, while some are doing it basically because of profit, others are doing it because of conviction and a look at the replies of the administrator of such site, you know which side they belong to. It now depends on which one you want to go with.

As to whether mixing is good or right, I think the bitcoin has created the platform for every one to have a bite and for the singular fact you involved in bitcoin, means you value your privacy whether you go through mixing or not. Which means for this castigating, we are all guilty if not, Chinese government would have gone against only mixing services.

Bitmixer was closed because of some pressure, otherwise there was not reason to back off with the reason to their existence. As bitcoin is widely used now and its pseudo anonymity is a problem for many of the holders. You dont have to do illegal stuff to keep your privacy, so Bitmixer was a valid service IMO.

This is absolutely the point: Pressure! But the dev of Bitminer never planned disclosing where that pressure came from. Otherwise why would anyone close a trusted and profitable business venture over an inconsequential excuse as "no longer believe in the privacy of Bitcoin" when that was actually one of the things that gave Bitcoin its fame?

Everyone has a right to protect their wealth and want more privacy about their savings.
Since bitcoin easily to checked the balance in every wallet and could be traced to someone who own it, it's better to divide your bitcoin in several wallets and cut the links between all of your wallets. That's why bitcoin mixer created in the first place, and chipmixer is the best mixing service around. Chipmixer offers the best way to mix bitcoin, easy to mix, convenient and faster services.

So why do these people open mixers almost every day? What's their point?

They think that the competition isn't tough at the moment so they keep on making mixers everyday and possible that there's only 1 person behind this. Once one of his mixer became popular that's the time he'll focus.
Competition not tough? You've got to be kidding me. Nowadays it's more than ever a very difficult job to market yourself as a legitimate mixing service ~ that all due to large amount of scammers looking to hit the jackpot.

They could easily keep their service up and running whilst mixing small amounts, till there comes a moment a few larger deposits come in, and suddenly they don't start to send out people's clean funds anymore.

I am quite happy that the community isn't this easily into getting tricked by scammers anymore. Every legit mixing operation that manages to survive after a year, has done a tremendous job, and will likely succeed.

Do I look kidding? One of the biggest mixing service shutting down? And if you are a player in the market of mixing industry what will you think? or if you are an aspiring bitcoin mixer enthusiast do you think the competition isn't that tough? I know the fact that scammers are trying to take the advantage too but the greatest are the ones that will survive.

So it means that bitcoin mixing is illegal including their country that is why they stop this business and let other bitcoin mixing service to be close too but for now i think there are still many new open mixing for now.. they  can run bitcoin mixing anonymously or sell their business to other But they just closed and shutdown this service.. I think there is someone from NBI contact them and telling that they wanted to close the service because its illegal if they continue the service they will be arrested. this is i  think why they are stopped this service and nothing else..

I don't know what to say in this discussion but mixing coins is not illegal in my country I don't really pay attention with that topic but being a known person offline will feel you are being watch every now and then. Anonymity is a must.

We really don't know if the person behind this new mixing business is the same person who run Bitmixer.io before.

Bitmixer surely was from some expert person/group of people deep into cryptos. I don't think bitmixer was their prime investment and thought it would be beneficial for their future to close any shady income in their portfolio.

So what bitmixer was surely the player and probably the best but they wanted to keep btc clean and not a drug currency so they shut down and told others also to shut. But in this world only money matters bitmixer withdrawing themselves would mean there is no 2nd best option this might be the reason for increase in number of mixing site all of them get to prove themselves by starting from the scratch.

Do they believe that they are smarter than bitmixer? If yes, then when they were before bitmixer's close?
Not opening before them would mean less profit because why wouls someone try a new site when bitmixer is already trusted and established.

Well, I created this thread to discuss about bitcoin mixing world.
Bitmixer closed their service and suggested every current mixer to close their services too. But as we see, they not only close but almost every day there are new mixers on market.
Bitmixer was biggest and trusted, they closed their service, we can call that big profit machine. No one will destroy ultimate profit machine without reasons, especially smart guy. So why do these people open mixers almost every day? What's their point? Do they believe that they are smarter than bitmixer? If yes, then when they were before bitmixer's close?

I have no idea what caused the bit mixer shutdown but it is an unlikely story they were telling(not believing in people's privacy anymore)

Remember that bitmixer was the only one of the old mixers that closed down. So it was likely some sort of individual issue that only bit mixer faced and not some universal problems that all mixers should expect to face.

The new mixers(chipmixer included) will be extra careful and learn from bitmixer's closing. And there seems to be no issues with chipmixer at least for a few months now, every customer is happy.

Bitcoin mixer closed and create another chance for others to start a new mixer. Yes, we are wondering why they stopped their services without any further explanation but only stated bitcoin created not for anonymous. Only Government could force such action to close bitmixer. But, I agree that everyone has a right to protect their privacy, to not being traced by everyone, no need to do illegal transactions if you want to use a mixer.

Not sure why bitmixer decided to all of a sudden close down at all. They were probably under pressure from the regulators because they were flawed in their management(not completely anonymous) or they suffered a hack etc.

I don't think what they said their public announcement was true. It was definitely not that they stopped caring about people's privacy or security.

Though through their shutdown chipmixer has gained a lot of traction. I suggest you check them out through my sig.
