IIRC the reason that BITMIXER gave us when they decided to shut down their mixing site is they don't like BTC anymore, BTC is bullshit to them that is why. as for the other mixers popping up, probably they saw the opportunity to excel in the business since one big company shuts down

They might be not smarter but bitmixer confirmed that mixers bring some good money. Someone just want to get a part of a pie and someone is trying to make a better service. I think that competition is always good for a customer.


It is not a secret that BTC is not anonnymous. Also you never know the source of the coins you recieve after mixing. For example you may mix your coins trying to hide your bitcoin income to avoid some taxes and get coins that were used to pay for human trafficking.

Competition not tough? You've got to be kidding me. Nowadays it's more than ever a very difficult job to market yourself as a legitimate mixing service ~ that all due to large amount of scammers looking to hit the jackpot.

They could easily keep their service up and running whilst mixing small amounts, till there comes a moment a few larger deposits come in, and suddenly they don't start to send out people's clean funds anymore.

I am quite happy that the community isn't this easily into getting tricked by scammers anymore. Every legit mixing operation that manages to survive after a year, has done a tremendous job, and will likely succeed.

I think you answered your own question: profit motive. Bitmixer shutting down left a massive vacuum in the industry for a much-needed service. The darknet markets have only grown larger over the years, and its vendors need mixers. They think that the potential profits of running a mixer outweigh whatever risks drove Bitmixer out of business.

Maybe they are right; maybe they are wrong. My thinking with that kind of business: run it for 1-2 years (covering your tracks, of course), churn out a good deal of profit, then disappear. Longer than that, and you risk an American/Interpol LEO operation coming down on you.

They think that the competition isn't tough at the moment so they keep on making mixers everyday and possible that there's only 1 person behind this. Once one of his mixer became popular that's the time he'll focus.


I don't know the reason behind the closure of bitmixer and it's still speculative that they believe to themselves and to their business that they can reach what bitmixer has reached.

If I amn't wrong their yearly profit was more than 300 btc as they claim (they usually received 1 million bitcoin for mixing). It's big profit, only this profit is enough to enjoy your whole life as much as you want. And then, they had reserves of thousand bitcoins, when they closed their service, they leave that reserves to themselves, this means they have nearly 3000 bitcoin which is so much amazing. These guys are smart, they know what they do. They got much money, closed business and avoid jail.

The owners of Bitmixer got scared and I understand them. They got so much money in BTC that they should have enough to start a different business or just live happily ever after. A mere 100 BTC is so much money right now that you could leave your job and forget about working till the end of your days and I'm sure their income was many times higher.
There are more mixers because people will always be willing to take the risk for the money. It's a good thing!

Bitmixer closed their service just after arrest of one of the owner of btc-e for involving in money laundaring and he might even face some strong charges. I have strong believe that bitmixer might got afraid of this crackdown as mixers play primary role in money laundering and if FBI will find out about the real owner of bitmixer in no time they will knock at his/her doors.

Money laundering is considered as biggest crime in almost every country.

There are new mixers opening up everyday and making competition with each other to get good position in mixer niche as competition on this niche was decreased heavily after shut down of biggest mixing service. However we will never know the real reason behind shutdown of bitmixer....

For normal people being anonymous doesn't matter like you and me but the whales are expecting highly secured privacy to take in every transaction and tracking details of them.
Actually bitcoin mixer are widely used by whales only not by the low amount investors. For example you are having 0.05 btc means you don't need to split and send it. This is how it works.

I actually like the fact that there are several mixing services popping up, because at the end of the day, this will create a strong and solid market. Of course there are a whole lot of scammers looking to infiltrate this part of the market now Bitmixer is no longer operational, but in the long term the few legitimate services with the best potential will survive. It will result in a market with 4-5 mixers competing with each other for the top spot, and below that we'll have the Yobit like mixers (in other words, shitmixers) looking to attract pocket change from noobs.

If I'm a business man that would decide to make a new mixing service then I would really aim that I would be best than those previous mixers.There are lots of new mixers in the market we wont know if they would be successful or not it would depend on how they would ran off their business.Knowing mixing service would really be prone on law related issues later on knowing that they are being used on illegal stuffs which we know its normal for a mixing service.

Bitmixer was the oldest and best mixing service yet I think different other mixers offer the same quality as them if not even better quality. I am talking about Bitblender and Chipmixer, Bitblender is older than Chipmixer but both offer great features for mixing your coins. Everyone should have the right to mix their coins.

Not only criminals mix coins, I sometimes sell some bitcoin to my friends locally so they now a bitcoin address of mine, after I send to them and get the cash I immediately use a mixing service for the remaining quantity. Although they are my friends they have not the right to know how many bitcoin/s I own.

Different thoughts came to my mind when I read the news about Bitmixer closing its doors indefinitely. I asked myself "what are the reasons behind its closure? I believe they are making a lot of money out of it." The answers to those questions never came. The owner explained their reasons but I don't actually believed it. Also, it's in the same timeline when BTC-e went down and closed by the FBI.

As the most trusted coin-mixing company closed its door to the public, many businessmen saw this opportunity to get the market share that it left hanging. Maybe that's the reason why many mixing solutions are popping out of nowhere. Please be mindful that the profit from this kind of business is so huge.

I believe the dev of bitmixer.io his reasons to close the service. One can't defer between users like us, who want to secure their privacy and those, who are involved in criminal actings, unless he takes effort to research all incoming and outgoing coins.

Bitmixer was closed because of some pressure, otherwise there was not reason to back off with the reason to their existence. As bitcoin is widely used now and its pseudo anonymity is a problem for many of the holders. You dont have to do illegal stuff to keep your privacy, so Bitmixer was a valid service IMO.

A news article on The Merkle says on BitMixer's closing, "Once, the popular darknet marketplace AlphaBay even redirected users to BitMixer if they wanted to remove any taint from their bitcoins before making a transaction on the platform. It is possible that this link may have caused law enforcement officials to dig deeper into BitMixer and into who was behind the service."

This can be the only reason why they shut down their services. Maybe they found it as a threat after so much time to keep running this service, and as stated above, it is possible also that they might have been blackmailed or something. We never know. We can just read news and assume what might happened.

Bitmixer was the flagship service so it would be the first to attract a huge amount of heat.

I assume the operator's assertion that Bitcoin should be nice and public is utter bilge and intended to make him look good if he's ever tracked down.

The new mixers are either more confident of never being traced or steering clear of tracably naughty coins.

I'm defenately not disagreeing with you, however, bitmixer has stated they closed their mixer because they stopped believing every bitcoin user has the right to privacy (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-lagest-bitcoin-mixer-is-about-to-stop-working-2042470). They might have had an alterior motive (they might have been forced to close shop, they might have been blackmailed,...), but they didn't give any extra motivation.
It's not because they had a change of heart, everybody should have a change of heart.

Personally, i'm a strong believer in privacy, and as long as mixing coins is not considered illegal in my country, i'll keep on stating that there is nothing wrong with using a mixer. I'll also stand behind any honest and reliable organisation that opens a mixing service.


you don't need to be a criminal to mix your coins, your BTC doesn't have to originate from criminal deeds for you to want to hide how much BTC you own.

For example: you might have been doxxed in the past, so everybody and their mother know who you are, where you live, where your kids go to school and which address you usually use to receive payments. Wouldn't it be normal you wanted to break any link between your public payment address and your private address? If you didn't break the link between those two addresses, everybody would know exactly how much BTC you were holding, which would give them a great incentive to break into your house at night and take your family hostage untill you gave up your BTC... Wanting privacy != illegal.

Often heard about it but never use it, i dunno what the use of mixing my coin tho, it not like im criminal who need money laundry  but if someone out there want to open a mixing coin site thats mean he want profit 

Well, I created this thread to discuss about bitcoin mixing world.
Bitmixer closed their service and suggested every current mixer to close their services too. But as we see, they not only close but almost every day there are new mixers on market.
Bitmixer was biggest and trusted, they closed their service, we can call that big profit machine. No one will destroy ultimate profit machine without reasons, especially smart guy. So why do these people open mixers almost every day? What's their point? Do they believe that they are smarter than bitmixer? If yes, then when they were before bitmixer's close?
