If GPU mining is 10 times faster than CPU mining, will it be a game changer? It may not affect ProtoShares much, as almost all coins may have been mined at that time, but how about bitshares and momentum algorithm?

‘Try to be nice’
Since all the birthday collision solving algorithms one can find on Wikipedia do without using massive memory, usually just using a couple of pointers they call "hare" and "tortoise", why is it that this momentum thing does supposedly need lots of memory? Do none of those standard efficient solutions found in Wikipedia actually work for some reason?

(For example, the methods for finding the cycle time of cyclic things such as pseudorandom number generators and hashes (hash of a hash etc until it collides thus cycles).)

his/her name is gigawatt

he/she used , rainbow tables

it looks like it might be done - , but also hopefully Freetrade will work with these guys and byemaster , as hes expressed interest to do so.

My back of the envelope calculations for solo mining on personal hardwarde -

i7 3700 - 100watts
Estimate 8 days to find a block
Electric $2.31
Current value 36coins x $1.92 = $69.12

If I had a room full of i7s, I'd switch them all on. Nice heating effect in the winter too.

Not sure about the economics of cloud or vps mining.
What's the estimate on an i5?
How many colisionspersec do you get?

That estimate is based on 40 collisions per minute. You should expect, on average, a block for every 500,000 collisions - so about 12500 minutes, or 8.68 days. Should cost you about 20.8 Kh/w - at $0.11 = $2.30

And the price of PTS is rising, maybe .0075 BTC right now, and BTC is rising a little too - so a USD value of about $94 per block now.

That's on a stock miner - on the pool miners, I think there are optimizations to be had. If we put a price on collisions -

that's $188/Million
or $0.18/thousand

...and hoping it isnt throwing any steel blocks...

Should be a lot fewer stale/orphan blocks now that the diff has gone up.

it is not profitable to mine now
whole concept is broken

I'm with new version, solo - no block
What "collisionspermin"  means?

{
"collisionspermin" : 12.79795233,

}

is this not the replacement for HPM (HashPerMinute) ?

Yes - collisions per minute is a more accurate reflection of your performance. A single hash might contain zero collisions or many, i've seen up to about 8. Some algorithms are better at finding them. More info here -

yes, 500.000 coins are mined already so it is 25% coin supply

can someone confirm this?

12k blocks, 50 reward at start, now about 35
do the math Smiley
Give me the formula for this?

1/4 coins mined in 5 days
Something is wrong with your setup.

i  mean 25% coin supply is distributed already.

my setup is fine, 75hpm total
but now i get tiny fractions of coins every block...

How high do you guys think the difficulty will go?
Obviously, to the moon!

to the bottom

Pool comparison time.

PTSPool: http://54.238.185.113/

First one I tried two days ago, lots of rejects and hpm was low

Alpha Miner: http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=236.0

Currently on here.  Brill thus far.  Has bugs that cause the pool to go down.

beeeeer: http://ptsweb.beeeeer.org

Tried it for about an hour.  Seemed very very slow.

Your thoughts and experience?
Nice one. This was needed.

+1 to Alpha pool

testz, you've been here since the begining.

have you tied the first pool again?  I have an urge to try it again.  Anyone have any feedback?

I was trying it before Alpha, it's work fine, but it's was offline for 12 hours and now don't get blocks:

I will keep looking for others pool and post it here when I get info.
