I would suggest going to the https://bitsharestalk.org and reading about the different DAC's they offer. If a snapshot has all ready happened of course the only way to get in is to buy the existing (LTS,BTSX....etc). What is nice about the upcoming snapshot is that you will get 2 DAC's for the price of one.

To be honest I am not sure what I would do. I am hedging my bets simply by owning a little bit of everything they make.......it is of course the only way to be sure.

Probably you mean PTS not LTS.

What would you recommend me to buy-PTS or BTSX? I have about 17k BTSX and no PTS.

If you are looking to flip them for a profit then I can't really advise you, as I am not sure myself.  I think they are both cheap right now.  If you are interested in the BitSharesX family of dacs (trading, banking, derivatives tied to real world price) then you should stay in BTSX, If voting or DNS is more your speed you should go into PTS.

I just buy another 17k BTSX for 1-2 year investment. I hope it's worth it.

thanks for the response, and angelshares is not traded anywhere that i can see correct? (why would you lol you invested in something awesome)
so i picked up a few protoshares, had more a few months ago but didnt really know what it meant.
I cant wait for btsx bank/exchnage in wallet to open up Cheesy

Correct. Angelshares is how they raised development funds. There was a 200 day donation period that raised a few thousand BTC.

It's one of the reasons, I started this thread. I think the PTS price will do very well now that it is the main vehicle for new investment in BitShares related DAC's.

BitShares-PTS (protoshares) is the one completely new DAC's will snapshot off the first time.

Is there a 'step by step' description of the 'snapshot' process somewhere ??
I assume you have to hold your Bitshares-PTS in your local wallet and then ??

Triff ..

Yes you just have to have them in your local wallet at the time of the snapshot. (After the snapshot date you can sell the PTS if you want. When the DAC is released the DAC wallet will know when you import your PTS wallet or the private key how many you held on snapshot date and therefore how many shares in the new DAC you get.)

(Some of the exchanges may honour the snapshot too, like bter & BTC38 did for PTS that was on their exchange at snapshot time, but it's not guaranteed.)

The FAQ has some good info http://bitshares.org/faq/
As does the BitShares wiki http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Main_Page

so the news released for bitshares-pts is referencing angelshares and protoshares in the snapshot.  are bitshares (btsx) included in the snapshot or is this specifically for protoshares holders?

Correct it is referencing AGS & PTS. (& no BTSX is not included in the snapshot.)

It can be a bit confusing, but BTSX is the bank & exchange DAC, so only future Bank & Exchange versions will snapshot BTSX.

AGS & BitShares-PTS (protoshares) are the ones completely new DAC's will snapshot off the first time.

Time is on our side, yes it is!
Many thanks for the updates guys it is very much appreciated.  I wish I could have bought some on the dip but funds were tight and people weren't selling much IMO.  I hope to be holding some pts before the boom I suspect will come.  Exciting tings in Plans for Bitshares and I'll be watching closely with much anticipation.  Big ups the the Devs and community!

I've got a few PTS on Cryptsy and I want to move them to
a wallet in order to participate in future "snapshots" to allocate DAC shares ..

I went here .. to download a windows wallet

http://bitshares.org/resources/downloads/

but, I get a "502 Bad Gateway" message ..

I checked the bitshares forum  (what a mess !! )
looking for a wallet link and only found a thread filled with comments
about how they can't get it to work ( the wallet that is ) ..

Whoever is responsible for the layout and management of the BitShares Forum
needs to make the wallet and basic coin description/attributes the first thing you find ..

Any help/guidance on this ??
TIA ..

Yes. the forum needs a little house cleaning. Here is the link to the wallet.
