Providing IDs and sensitive information to these sites is always dangerous which is why I am a bit hesitant of providing the same to any site, no matter how legit or secure they say they are. A bad or pissed up employee could sell them and then company's response would be that they were hacked, or company might sell it themselves (not saying Bitstamp will do this) or they might actually get hacked. So only do this if there is no other option.

this is true only if the attack is not performed while they are handling your id or someone other id, otherwise you might be in trouble, id can be validated offline like bitcoin transaction

Not sure if Bitstamp verifies internally or uses a third party though, so your data is always at "some" risk.... Smiley

but if an attack from hacker occur, then your id could be stole for malicious activity, this is why i can't trust exchange with id, and i'll never, send mine ever..

better to deal with exchange that ask your name and address only with limited deposit and withdrawals

Probably not. The exchanges don't really store your ID's on a database system. They probably store it offline. If the entire database with all the ID's was to be hacked or compromised , they would likely have to face serious charges.

Yup.. seems so.
Just wish they were more responsive.

It could be a blessing in disguise in some ways. I managed to avoid the MTGox disaster because they were super slow at responding when I tried to open an account there some years ago.

Bitstamp s a very professional and reputable company. Never had issues with them. I highly doubt they care much about your ID and stuff to steal those.

Oh... really ?

So can you please explain why I have had no responses to my tickets ?

AND ... why all the tickets from my verification process have been deleted ?

 Huh Huh Huh

Bitstamp is a registered company, and any illegal actions they might be doing will immediately fire back at them. Maybe this is just some customer support problem on their end, and lol, they wouldn't sell any personal information. You can try and send another ticket, see if this time it will be entertained.

This is rather strange.

I have tried to open an account there and because it's in a "company" name and there are 2 "directors" I had to go though another process.

Fair enough I thought, I will submit copies of passports etc etc.

Problem is .. I did it through the ticket system and now those tickets are not on the system and I am (after 30hours) still not getting ANY response from them.

I am not that worried about money or coins because I have not deposited any.

What I am worried about is now they have my ID and banking information and are NOT responding.

Kind of putting a bad taste in my mouth here. Huh

Bitstamp wont take your ID and sell it. LMAO.  Grin

I was thinking the same thing.
But the section of tickets dealing with this have all gone.

All the tickets with one particular persons name on it.

Even one going back 3 years ago when I first opened up the personal account.

AND .. no reply ..... none.. not even after an urgent "please explain" ?

Hope you are right.
Could be just a glitch at the moment. There is not much they can illegally do with your ID. Incase you are worried, you can always write across it " For Verification of Bistamp" and send it to them. This way, as long as its written over your picture somewhat, they cannot use it for any other purpose.
