I did not expect them to close the deposit and withdrawal option with the activation of BIP 91,but you cannot complain them for opting for the best option for the customers,if there is a split in the network they do not want any complication ,so expect these kind of things till everything is settled which means a couple of weeks rest from trading. Tongue

I think it is very unnecessary move to disable BTC deposit's and withdraw disable, when everyone on the universe know that BIP91 has been activated and there is no chance of a split. I really do not like this and it will create unnecessary panic among users who have lots of money deposited there.

I had recently seen that bittrex is not accepting bitcoins, which means that i cant deposit nor withdraw. It says until BIP-91 is settled, the btc wallet will be disabled.

I would like to know till when this BIP-91 will be settled? and moreover segwit will happen from 1st august, so i wont be able to transfer from that time.
I have some bitcoins in coinsecure and i want to transfer them to bittrex and exchange them for some other currency...

Any suggestions on investing in other currencies on bittrex?

Even before the BIP91, there is already a warning that bitcoin transactions should be avoided while the implementation is going on. I think there is enough warning beforehand. Anyway, this is going to be very temporary. As a matter of fact bitcointalk.org has already this announcement: BIP91 seems stable: there's probably only slightly increased risk of confirmations disappearing. You should still prepare for Aug 1. I hope this will help you a bit.

Not accepting, but this is to save its customers. We all know that bitcoin has an ongoing upgrade now and this will continue. When this action ends, everything will be okay again. Don't get offend.

Yes its true. Of course this is just temporary changes. Bittrex just want our bitcoins to be safe for the upcoming correction. Like what they are saying here in the forum, keep safe your coins in a cold storage to avoid losing of coins.
They're not saying it will really lost but its better to prevent it.
Maybe bittrex will get back to usual after the correction is done.

Well I hope it is as you say and the exchanges don't have a second thought . Because if anything should go wrong these exchanges can disappear with our funds and it makes it scary the more.

Well, for me, that will be the best decision of Bittrex just to be safe for any transactions until August one splitting issues. Let's just wait what will happen and hope for the better.

Yes, lets just wait and I think its understandable what bittrex did because there is some uncertainty issues after the segwit activation. I agree to suspend first the trading until issues is resolve and the system is running smoothly and back to normal.
Bittrex made some an action not to accept bitcoin before the problem may arise on aug1. Actually other exchangers did some announcement that withdrawal is not applicable. I just hope that everything will be okay and will resume on august.

I think that's a mandatory decision should be make by exchangers. Japan exchangers recently release notices to their customers that bitcoin service like sending and receiving bitcoin is not operational until the forking  successfully takes place. Using bitcoin while forking is undergoing will be risky. That's why they decide to disable all bitcoin service. Bitcoin services i think will be fully operational after the fork.

They already suspended deposits and withdrawals or they will suspend it in future? I read these notices on other exchanges as well but what about users who already have a balance in their wallet in BTC? It's necessary to be careful for the next few days as these exchanges are restricting bitcoin withdrawals even before 1st August. I don't get the reason to start taking precautions 7 days before the event.

Actually, this is the message I get when I look at the bitcoin wallet on Bittrex: "Confirmations temporarily increased to 6 due to BIP-91."
However, I haven't tried to send or receive a transaction to confirm if that's an accurate statement.

These exchanges are only going to credit users coins on one chain if there is a split right?   So the exchange would get to keep any "duplicate" (etc-like) coins for themselves.  There were likely many users planning to withdraw before Aug 1 for this very reason and now they cant.   They should have announced the cutoff date well in advance.
THe bittrex has disabled the bitcoin service but not for another in my knowledge. Remember the bittrex exchange site already made an announcement for the users to disable the service until the soft fork will have finished. But what do you mean about there is a split? It doesn't make sense just only to credit the users if there is a split. Those voters are voting BIP91 caused by a split. Are you feel worried about the split?

Actually, it's a wise decision by Bittrex, and it affects only those that ONLY accept bitcoin as payment. I can easily shift between exchanges with ETH or LTC or any other matched coin. But Bitcoin? I think it's a complete disaster. It's been born noble and does almost everything wrong, or in a hardly passable way. But everyone must pay tribute and own it, because that's how to trade, and usually, how to mine for profit, and usually, how to pay for something. Worst choice of technology and bad development ecosystem full of politics, needing people, organizations to be mindful of when they transact, or what's going on with it at all times.

Do you read the news? According to a recent announcement, bittrex is ready to accept bitcoin in all cases, which means that if the bitcoin is split, you will get it all, you will not lose anything.
Ohh god thank you for the info i tried to withdraw my coins yesterday but it was disabled good thing you've tell this one. Although the halting of deposits and withdrawals for impending split (will not happen anymore) are for safety of its users but its totally fine now.

If the shit on Aug1st won't go as planed (slim to 0 chances) there will be no ssafe heaven from it.
Look how the altcoins tumbled when bitcoin sneezed this week, if bitcoin fails the altcoins will follow it to the ground.

That's a good point, and pretty much got confirmed in the recent decline to below the $1900 level. Certain exchanges have even announced that they might decide to roll back Bitcoin related trading data. This basically means that even BTC/ALT alt trading isn't totally safe from these potential trading data roll backs. It would either drag down altcoins completely, which is a likely scenario, or it will spark USD/ALT trading, where they then get pumped to the sky. At the end of the day, if we look at safe haven assets, then the only real safe haven during a massive crash will be holding fiat. In that regard, best thing to do is to keep all your coins offline under your own control, and have your exchange fiat balance sitting on the higher side.

Just sit tight and enjoy a week of no trading and no running with your bitcoins from door to door on closed exchanges.

Very true if bitcoin falls then all altcoin will crawl back from the bottom, step of bittrex is very appropriate to disable bitcoin transactions because their reputation and volume is very big, if there are many transaction problems because after 1 August bittrex automatically do not want to bear all at risk and become bankrupt, the reason for the bittrex not to accept bitcoin simply refuses the transaction until the condition stabilizes again.

AFAIK, deposits and withdrawal are not suspended. they've just increased the confirmation required to credit the bitcoins to one's account.

I smell a rat and should anything go wrong these guys might be up to something. I don't know but it now makes sense to completely abandon online wallets right after the coast is clear and everything returns to normal after August 1.
