Please note that February deliveries are limited because we will produce a limited number of wafers. The remaining orders will need to wait 1 month more until the 2nd batch.

So are you into the 2nd+ batch for sales by now i assume?

their initial statement was 8000 th in batch 1.
i dont think they have hit that yet Smiley

Hello
I've ordered a prospero-x3 and received an email with a btc account for payment and 24 hours for that, but in his knowledge base blackarrow say:
"Payment & queue
Posted by Support Black Arrow on 18 November 2013 04:17 PM

All orders are shipped in the order of payment, not in the order that they have been placed. This means that by placing an order and not paying it you will not reserve your place in the shipment queue.

All orders have 15 days to arrange a payment for your order. After 15 days we will send a payment reminder which will give you 5 more days to the end of which your order will be cancelled."

I fear that the received email could not be legit and I will send my btc to other people.
Have someone previously paid in that way?
Thanks in advance,
Regards.
I think you are confusing BlackArrow with their US reseller.
Yup.

As for their location etc... I have shipped and received large packages from that location, And I will be visiting their here in about 5 days.

What is the normal time for the orders paid to be updated?
I sent BTC on Saturday and still nothing.

i'd order from this company if the minimum order was 1-5 rather than 10+ for the X1

so if i order today from here, in Feb we get the product 100% ?
where is blackarrow located ?

 Address: https://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/about-us-en.html

801, Building 2, Huangduguangchang, Yitian Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, P. R. China, Postcode: 518048

公司地址:广东省深圳市福田区滨河大道与益田路交界东南皇都广场2号楼801 邮编:518048

The domain registra lists the web site owner as:
Yi Tian, Black Arrow LTD, 90 Jaffe Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong

There are both HK and Chinese contact numbers in their "About Us"
http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/about-us-en.html

There's lots of other businesses registered at this HK address,
it seems to be office space let in Henan Building, and some companies their may have been scams...
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=90+Jaffe+Road+scam

Of course a few bad apples doesn't mean the whole barrel is ruined,
but never risk more than you can afford to lose on pre-orders, it is a speculative investment,
your money is funding the product development, your reward is to get your mining machine
cheaper and earlier than the retail buyer.

I agree that being circumspect is a prerequisite in dealing with ASIC hardware, I was so careful about it I waited until my supplier started manufacturing before jumping in!  Undecided

Now I don't have any stake or money sunk into blackarrow, and don't know more of them other than that they have some track record of building and designing Lancelot FPGAs in the past.

However, registering your domain name at a different address isn't a big deal. And the contact numbers as described on the site are local contact numbers provided as a courtesy to customers so they can make local calls, which are then routed back to the China helpdesk.

So as usual caveat-emptor but I think BA have better credentials than some in the game.

A "Black Arrow LTD" is registered with www.icris.cr.gov.hk but I cannot view the details without handing over cash.

I don't suppose anyone can guarantee that, shipments can always get lost or delayed due to tariffs/customs or shipping facilities. The site said that it would be available (for shipment Huh or for delivery Huh) by the 24th of feb 2014.

@vs3, I'm not much of an analog guy, but isn't it difficult for a QFN package to evenly distribute 50 watts of clean power?  I was under the impression that BGA style packages are used for A) large pin counts, and B) power distribution.  Point B being salient here.  BGAs allow you to get caps closer to the die.  And with designs like mining chips, power distribution is key.

Again, I'm not an analog guy.  I suppose BlackArrow could chime in here, but honestly I think they have more important things on their mind.  Time to market is so much more important than getting the cost of PCB and assembly down.

I agree - each package has its pros and cons and our discussion may already be pointless if the package has been picked.
As for the caps - indeed, you can put them on the other side of the PCB and get them very close, but I don't think they're a critical piece here...

I think the biggest issue is dealing with all of that amperage and the resulting heat. (And if we have to route 40A through a hole bunch of vias - those would have to have one hell of a copper metallization ... I suspect even regular 1oz copper may not be sufficient)

BlackArrow - please chime in Smiley

I just ordered a X-3 from blackarrowsoftware.com, my order # is 21XX. Will see if this thing ships on time...

Am I the 21XXth person who ordered the X-3 is it the 21XXth order of one their products?

Dunno, a good question though...
I just placed a 2nd order 22 hours after the 1st and it was 90 orders away.

Keep in mind order # does not correspond with a paid invoice.
