UPDATE:

Pool handled pretty decent over the night at 0.9% rejects for me with about 90% of the normal users connected. Everyone should try reconnect their miners and see if it keeps up without causing the same issues of yesterday.

Sounds like cgminer 2.4 is not a good idea. It will just disable the pool after a number of rejected shares. The --no-pool-disable option even sounds worse.
He just said he's been having trouble with the pool and the pool's been rejecting all the work. cgminer is doing the right thing and disconnecting you from a pool that's misbehaving. Why do you think this behaviour is bad? Would you prefer it to spend a day submitting nothing but rejects till you noticed it yourself?

edit: the --no-pool-disable option just disables this feature if you'd rather submit rejects indefinitely
It's bad if it never reconnects you to the pool... I've never had the older version stuck on a pool that was not working...

Which mining software causes you the fewest problems, Clipse?

You might want to gently recommend it for anyone who's not married to their software.

Ive never had any issues with poclbm, but dont hold me to that since changes Ive now made could have turned poclbm to crap aswell, I know for a fact there is issues with pool that I need to resolve so I have another guy now working on details that I pulled from log, there is progress even when it seems like all is doomed Smiley

Are you doing some work, Clipse? I've noticed a huge upswing in rejects since switching to 2.4.0, and I'm not sure if it's pool or miner related. On BonusPool, my miners are running 6.2%(300MH), 4.4%(2x200MH), 2.6% (4x330MH), and 5.7%(375MH). These are since switching over to 2.4 this morning, using the new pool information function in CGMiner, and with BTCGuild and Slush as backup pools.

Also, I'll add the cgminer option --no-pool-disable because BonusPool is getting disabled sometimes and will never back again, until I restart cgminer, I think... Am I right?!
Like most defaults in cgminer, it is better to not add that option. If you get banned from a pool, cgminer can work around it, but if you add that option, you could waste a lot of time on a banned pool.

Update to 2.4.0 done! Added --no-submit-stale...

Cheers!

I think that option makes sure that a pool doesnt disable as you described.

That's the code being polite... you should see what it would have done before.

LOL , all of those rejects are related to me working on pool, but I also need to wait patiently for everyone to connect back with cgminr 2.4 since im sure only 1 or 2 so far have switched.

I can clearly see with my 2.4 connection its handling established connections much better and also havnt seen tripling of connections at LP however a bunch of users are still on 2.3.6 which clearly shows that.

The previous code definitely was not polite and had a "take no prisoners" approach so it would bombard by default for the miner's benefit and if anything went wrong at the pool end, the pool would get hammered.

Seems fairly accurate with what Ive noticed from the poolside, just replace hammer with nuclear bomb Cheesy
