Hey Fellow Cappers!

Looking over the last few weeks it seems there are quite a few more people contributing ideas/opinions for CAP. It's really good to see more people coming out and contributing to development.

The new Icon bounty wallet has nearly hit 5000 CAP. Its currently at 4900. I'm not sure exactly what to do with it, Reyde was starting to add some new icons, but I'm not sure if we are using the awsome font he linked for the new icons as well. Also to note, I know Crazyloaf has just recently sold his stash, I was surprised how easily the market absorbed his sell, it seems like there is definitely underground support for CAP, doesn't seem like too much was really said on this point Smiley.

I also wanted to ask you guys if there is anything we may want to get going as far as community development side of things goes?

I have some thoughts about getting some new bounties going, which I don't mind contributing too, such as translation of ANN threads into other languages, a new persons guide to getting started with CAP/staking and a self replenishing faucet ect. These are a few ideas and I think it would be great to encourage some new people on board to build a stronger community. Also maybe a fund to get some promotions going. Such as give aways for new people to test out the client/staking. I mean I have a heap of steam games(decent ones) in my inventory, maybe we could use them as give aways when new people get onboard with CAP and stake for the first time? Just an idea I'm open to any other uses as well.

If Reyde is still getting a twitter feed going, maybe could help out and sign up and check it out. Post some of the things that have been happening in CAP. There seems like CAP has such a great opportunity for community contribution and growth that we could possibly sitting on a small gold mine, we just need to get involved to make it happen Smiley. Tranz is also adding some great new updates to the client. In this regard it would be great if we could learn how to edit up some images in photoshop so a few of us could work on some unique customizable skins and post them in this thread for feedback. If anyone's interested  post in here or drop me a pm, I don't know exactly how to do this just yet but wouldn't mind learning! Anyway its great to see some more updates coming along with CAP and more broadly speaking the increased discussion within the CAP community.

How about Twitter give aways for RT posts? IF Reyde agree We can use Bottlecaps.buzz...How do You think?

Hey thanks a lot for the answer I will check out your guide and follow it.

so did you cross compile from 12.04 ?

anyhow i will try this, i'm sure i can inch my way towards getting this going.

If i do have success i may try to make a "for dummies" version of these , CAPs and HBN

again cheers for the response.

maybe my problem was a dependencies one? - the Pi is a B+ but it is still ARM and 32Bit -

No I didn't cross compile. I compiled on the Pi. It takes a while, but it worked out.  Hard to say what your error exactly was, do you have a full log?

i will pm you - i'll give i another shot and try to get the full log. thanks a lot.

Hi Tranz + Caps HNB lovers. : D

Any way to get Caps/HBN going on a Ras Pi?

I think because it uses QT5 that is the prob

Ras Pi is ARM 32 Bit

but Peercoin will compile as per here : http://www.ppcointalk.org/index.php?topic=186.msg572#msg572

however error i get is :

Qmake error : unknown widgets

Which i guess means "Wrong fucking qt chump!"

Pi seems to have had qt5-dev etc in its apt-get but it seems to have been pulled??

any solutions ? - getting CAPs and HBN into Pi could well help engagement as a PoW/PoS hybrid.

Cheers.

Hey DI.

I have have compiled the daemon to run on Pi about a year ago for HBN.  See this thread https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/8233-pihobonickels/ It runs pretty good, but the memory required for HBN are tough.

If you are referring to a QT version I haven't tried it so I am not sure. But I can tell you that HBN and pretty sure CAPs are both QT 4 and 5 compatible.  I'll have to test CAPs for sure on my 12.04 Ub system. But I know for sure it works for HBN, and the code base is very close. If there is a specific error it can be corrected no problem.

Not much, I just need the ability to clone myself. Send one off to work, one to work on crypto and one to keep the kids from killing each otherWink

Got an 8yo and twin 5yo's...Two words - Perler Beads; ever 30-60 minutes you may have to melt plastic with the iron but outside of that, peace.

Pretty much in the same boat, but Irish twins of ~ the same age.

As far as I know the skin-thing was only once suggested and considering the fact that you don't have ample time I'd say lets get a new 2.3 version out with the updates you mentioned and leave it there for now. I can only speak for myself but I am perfectly happy with the way it looks already.
And that way you can also just focus on programming the HBN fork which probably is quite time consuming as well.

Fork for HBN is close to complete, running it through testing now..

I think I can do the things I mentioned for 2.3 for caps and also look to add the skin ability.  Most likely an early Christmas present.

What updates do we want to see for 2.3?

I have had a request for Autosavings updates, including custom send address. I can do that.

I was planning on doing the windows safe shutdown, and the combine/split threshold updates, to help keep blocks more manageable.

Obviously the new icons.

Anything else?

Hi Tranz,

So where do we stand? What do you need to be able to program the 2.3 version. If there's anything we can do to help, just let it be known!
Not much, I just need the ability to clone myself. Send one off to work, one to work on crypto and one to keep the kids from killing each other!  Wink

Seriously though I was waiting to see what direction we wanted to go.

It seems like there are a few core updates that are needed. Including updates for Autosavings, auto combine/split updates and a few other small core issues. It also seems we want to go the route of adding the ability to change the skin of the wallet on the fly. I can add this ability, but I still have yet to see one person come forth that wants to or has the knowledge of how to add new skins.

Can anyone does this?

If I just add the code to allow the wallet to switch on the fly, it will be useless unless people add new skins.  Otherwise I do like the new icons and I can update to use them straight up.

I'd prefer a utilitarian wallet over all else. I suggested the font awesome icons as they're currently used by other wallets like Vericoin. I like the idea of the block re-combination feature MOST because automation of that process is time I get back in my life.

There is something wrong with Caps explorer http://cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com/. It is showing wrong amount on my adr.
Adr. F3Yjy8peDRasTP1TCBWKen6hsNcJdhr6xP. It is showing 31652 Caps while I have 28040 in my wallet Huh Huh Huh

Same here, it shows a little more than there actually is in my wallet. Maybe the CCE-dev could check it out? It's not a big diff but it's nice when it's corresponds. As far as I remember it has something to do with orhan blocks. Not sure there.

Again,

There can be differences between what a wallet reports and what the explorer states.

A coin wallet uses hidden addresses and negative values to display amounts. The explorer adds/subtracts from actual transactions it sees on the network.

It is not unusual for them not to match.

I'd say it cannot account for the differences some people experience. In my case CCE always shows an exact amount of Cap too much. (couple of 1000). But whats more, when I check

http://cap.blockx.info/richlist/

I see the right amount which corresponds with my wallet. So maybe you could check it again? I wouldn't be surprised if you find orphan blocks that account for the experienced differences. If I am not wrong, it started close to the roll back we had soon after the July hard fork. (But of that I am not sure though.)

Thanks for your trouble!

Concerning the Bottlecaps explorer on cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com

It looks like the last patch introduced a bug in the orphan detection routine that would not have been caught until the routine was called in actual online use.

I will be patching all the explorers this weekend as each one will require some down time to patch and partially rebuild the database.

digitalindustry - How do You think...What should be the next step to move CAP forward ?

just steady as she goes now - then:

- simplify

- theme is useful

- then exposure to Fallout cultists. (me)

- try to get onto pock.io for Steam vouchers.

but none of that will boost the price only Aliens can lift the price of a Pow/ PoS hybrid like Caps.

so summary : we need to reach out to the large un-tapped Alien community

Hi Fellow Cappers!

I believe we earlier had a discussion about some new looks for our wallet. I think we had some good idea's but I don't think it really materialized enough to be able to redesign the whole thing. I for one, don't think that's much of a problem, and judging from the lack of activity on that department maybe more people are just satisfied with the way it looks right now.

Knowing that we always can make a drive for a new look later, shouldn't we just leave the looks for what they are at this moment and focus on a new release with some of the changes Tranz suggested?

You dont have to explain yourself to anyone. You are 100% right what you said. I have other coins and lost some. With the declining market and BTC losing value, my investment shrink t 1/3 of the fiat I put. At the end of the day, none of these people blaming you will give you your loss. But problems with the crypto markets are greedy investors, scamcoins, pup&dump scheme and no regulation. We say the point of crypto is not being regulated, but this is also the biggest enemy.

CrazyLoaf sold his whole CAP stash (almost 200k). I hope that price will rise back to 3k.

Every Seller needs a Buyer. The way I see it is 3% of total supply has been sold into the market in the past week by an individual. If someone dropped 3% of BTC into the market over the course of one week the market would shat upon itself. While BTC is testing lows and most of the Altcoin market is hemorrhaging 200k CAP found their way into wallets by those who see a future for BottleCaps. BottleCaps are coming up on day FIVE HUNDRED of Proof of Work; visualize a longer time horizon.

Well said.

The nice thing was that 200K was eaten up with not too much damage to the CAPs price, ~0.00003 to ~0.000026.  HBN and TEK took a harder hit.

Re: CrazyLoaf.  The abruptness of the about-face on HBN and CAPs, the large dumps  to shake confidence and the level at which he now puts down HBN and CAPs are bit odd.  Add to that to timing that David Latapie just sold a large amount of HYP off market and under value to a special friend of HYP.  Nice little bonus for promoting HYP and putting down HYP CAPs and TEK maybe?  That's right out of the XMR handbook, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

You are welcome to blame me for the price declines, but that is not entirely the case. I saw things that made me change my mind. For example, the $300 sell taking TEK from 14k to 3k sat was one. Another was the little micro sells of 10k or so HBN that kept knocking it down from 10k sat. There's a lot of reasons together, but you are welcome to believe what you want.

I put real money into these coins, and decided to take fiat and/or BTC losses to get out of them since, after being invested in them for a few months, I noticed they either have (1) lack of community interest and/or existence, (2) lack of developer interest, talent, and/or skill, or (3) a combination of (1) and (2).

I don't need more HYP. There are many OTC deals since that's what happens when you have an active, live community that can talk with one another. I'm actually glad that OTC deals are made since it also people to enter into HYP into a decent amount without making the market too "hot." The deal you are talking about was not with me, and not in exchange for "putting down" HBN, CAP, TEK, etc.

Actually, I still am sitting on a large loss in TEK, so I'm just "fudding" myself and hurting my investment further.

Anyway, that's what I have to say on the matter. If you have more questions, feel free to ask, but I am not going to lie: I am rather miffed I lost BTC, fiat "paper value," and time on these coins and now everyone is liking to FUD me for it. I mean, where were all the other verified addresses on the CAP rich list other than mine?

I am glad we have this back and forth between those with the same goals, (grow coin/community/BTC/etc.) in high Proof of Stake coins. Crazyloaf: It was good to see the market readily absorb your exit. I'd like to see the final chapter update in the CrazyLoaf investment journal.
