Slight variation of the logo in a more "traditional" coin composition, but still very clean.

This is the best to me.Simple but looks warm!

Sorry, no offence, but it kind of reminds me a swastika and gives me the creeps.

Heil thermost!!  Grin

No offence taken, certainly wasn't intentional though there is a vague resemblance I suppose.

Updated my last submission and I've tried to incorporate the house into the X, think if the house symbol is too prominent it might end up looking like some sort of real estate logo.

So here are some examples of emblems.  Some good, some clever, some just emblems.

A lot of people are inclined to do round logos that have the C and H incorporated into them.  Geometrically, trying to use the C and H with the X just doesn't seem like it has a chance of working.  It's probably just best to try to create an image with just the X (to convey exchange), and focus on a good type font and color for the word ClearingHouse.  But that's just my opinion.

I did notice when the Facebook Exchange emblem is turned 90 degrees it distinctly looks like a house (a clearing house!) and an X.  Maybe some of you can explore this direction?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no more circles. I do not want a coin logo.
I'm looking for a motif of some kind which can scale down to 16x16, and act as a logo. I would like the words ClearingHouse as part of the final logo but such that it can be cropped off. This will give a dual purpose symbol - as logo and as a currency emblem for exchanges etc.
I would also like to see designs not based on letters, but the ideas of interconnectivity, trust, partnership, interlinking. There are two sides to every trade. We're embossing data on the blockchain cryptographically.
I think I'm pretty close to that then.
Maybe I'll submit a different one later if I come across something cool in my mind.

Because he said he may not have time since he's on holiday...

Dont think it needs to match the Viacoin font.

Alright.
So apart from your posts is there anything we should take into account that has been mentioned in this thread? Like the elliptical shapes, the circle border or something else?

I would like to stress the bond between Viacoin & ClearingHouse.
They are like siblings, a big brother and a little brother; or a Dad and Child.
Or in a more mathematical representation - a sort of "derivative" from Viacoin

I therefore would like to suggest first, that any proposed logo for viacoin, will include a thumbnail of viacoin at one of the corners so that viewers will be able to see both, one near the other, and assess the bond and match of the two.

I am not a designer BUT - as consequence of the above, I think that the design principles should be based on the Viacoin logo - the colours, the lines, the symbol. It is a given and is not going to change.
http://viacoin.org/

So for example -
  • The use of elliptic curves in CH would look unrelated to Viacoin's logo even though by themselves it can be a nice logo
  • The CH font should be the same as used in Viacoin
  • The circle that borders Viacoin should be used for CH
  • The concept of using two colours for the name "Via" & "Coin" should be applied to "Clearing" & "House"

I understand that the above limits the scope of creativity, but i think we can not ignore the Viacoin logo which is a given, and the relationship between these 2 logos.

In any case, these are merely my personal thoughts and suggestions.
I for one will admire any creative work, but chose only what I believe complements and blends with the Viacoin logo.

My 2cents

Then why not have the last designer make the new logo?
(Not complaining. Honest question.)

btcdrak mentioned in the post above yours that it shouldn't look like a coin logo, so why use the same bordering circle?
Also, please post VIA's font name.

So I've had a quick exchange with Btcdrak and I think I have some input that could help in the direction of this logo design.

Essentially Viacoin is a decentralized blockchain zero trust clearing house. And ClearingHouse is a major component that works with and on top of Viacoin.

With that being said, here are the things to keep in mind.

The logo should be something small, more of an emblem (that can be used as a coin logo as well if necessary).

Here are some examples of what we mean by more of an emblem:

The values the logo should communicate are:

subtle & complex while appearing at first glance to be clean & simple
forward thinking & modern but not too futuristic to where it seems fanatical
should convey integrity and trust even though it's designed to be zero trust.
should have a feel of being collaborative & supportive

I'll expand a little on what we mean by collaborative and supportive.  So as we know, BTC has unwanted additions building on top of it.  One of the characteristics that differentiates Viacoin is that it welcomes applications be built on top of it's blockchain.  Also, other coins have zero control over bitcoin.  In this case VIA and XCH will be collaborating and supporting each other.  The logo should convey this dynamic.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when deciding on color (kinda the psychology behind them):

Red: Passion, Anger, Vigor, Love, Danger, Risk
Yellow: Knowledge, Energy, Joy, Intellect, Youth
Green: Fertility, Wealth, Healing, Success, Growth
White: Purity, Healing, Perfection, Clean, Virtue
Blue: Knowledge, Trust, Tranquility, Calm, Peace, Cool
  Black: Fear, Secrecy, Formal, Luxury
  Purple: Royalty, Wisdom, Spirituality, Imagination
  Orange: Creativity, Invigoration, Unique, Stimulation
  Gray: Balance, Sophistication, Neutrality, Uncommitted

The choice of image will be the key in conveying a sense of collaboration and support, the dynamic between VIA and XCH.

The choice of font style, color of font and/or color of images will also be key to conveying the right values / tones.

I hope this helps, and I look forward to seeing what ideas this brings!

I'm looking for something that can double as a logo for ClearingHouse and a symbol for XCH. It should not be a coin style logo, it should not be complex and it should be able to reduce down to 16x16 and still be legible.
