it seems like these event did not cause new infection.
It really looks like but if the number goes up or double within 2 weeks then should stop any contact sports and the government just support these boxers, the death is quite high I wonder how many are in the suspected list, this is very important because the number could still go up.

They have held this event because the number of infected is not very high in their country.

What do you think about this, do you think that some sporting events have a good chance of resuming?
With a low case rate in their country, I think it is ok to open some of their sporting events already so that their economy will start to recover too.

In USA, there are some training camps for NBA players who are open already for training. For some countries that has a low case rate, there is a possibility that they can open too as long as there are some precautionary measures that will be imposed like the social distancing, wearing of face masks, having an alcohol, getting their temperature before entering the arena and the ban of flights that are going inside their country so that they are no additional cases in their country.

By the end of May the country of Nicaragua will be promoting two boxing matches
Fortunately, country has few people infected with Coronavirus. I wish that this nation did not develop more cases of infected people because they have not stopped their activities. So I see positive its prevention measures. I attribute to this case that the country was lucky.
Yes, they don't have much cases for corona virus. I wish them that they will retain the low case so that they wouldn't feel the life of the new normal that's being implemented in most affected cases. Nicaragua knows what they do, they will not be ignorant and insensitive to allow these events if the case on their country is rampant. I just wish that most countries can go back to these sporting events so that we can watch again our favorite sports and entertainment.

Wow, another matches to watch for? I guess there are only few boxing events now that are happening, so they better make it live so boxing fans would be able to watch this, also, it would be nice if this particular fight will be available in sportsbook, this would somehow help kill the boredom for awhile.

I cannot find any kind of news online that it says there will be another fight by the end of May.

maybe @verita1  would be able to provide a link of the news or information, that would be helpful for a good discussion.

The promoters are too selfish in my opinion, definitely forcing the boxing match to continue because of the profit gained from sports betting.
Although prevention is carried out such as sprayed disinfectant, there is still a risk of corona virus spreading, and also not necessarily the
audience really apply social distancing.

I doubt if that's the case, maybe promoter of this fight don't get any profit from this and i think all they want is somehow make boxing back on it's feet again. Boxers surely benefited from this as they were paid no matter how the outcome was.

My advice is to follow the government's recommendation to postpone all sports matches, until the corona virus completely stops spreading.

All activities were known to their government AFAIK, this was not hidden from them.

Do they wore the mask fighting?  Grin Grin

Interesting picture.
I wonder how they will manage to breath properly from their masks considering that the body will require more oxygen to function properly when games like that become intense. Guess they will need more than normal mask.... maybe some small oxygen devices to supply them with sufficient oxygen. I doubt playing intense games with mask is a good idea.

I guess Nicaragua is one crazy boxing nation, Lol. I do hope that they make the right decision as the world is really suffering from the covid-19 pandemic. But still, there are risk involved here, they may have the lowest cases, but it doesn't mean that they are going to be immune with the virus. Personally, I love the sports, but let's not wait till the virus gets into their country, they should take care and health comes first.

I am not here what make a country think that having less number of cases will reduce the chance of new cases. A single super spreader can infect more than 500 people . It has been proved in so many countries. They should learn from other countries and stop this boxing championship.

If ever the situation becomes worst in Nicaragua then theres no one
to be blamed but its president or the one who let that event happen.

Who would blame him? people are not even blaming the US president for not making early measures despite the increase of covid infection in their country, maybe they have the same attitude but the case of Nicaragua is quite different as there are very few number of people who got infected.

The government are allowing this, because the people behind thinks that they won't get infected so as they say. There are reports that the Nicaraguan government are hiding the real numbers. So these boxing events are held because their government are allowing it.

But for the rest of the world that has been greatly affected by the corona virus, this is very wrong. Even health experts are advising that we practice social distance and contact less as a first defense against the spread of the virus.
I do not know if they are hiding information or if they do not have any at all, Nicaragua is one of the countries from which I cannot find any information regarding how many tests they are performing on their population to try to know the extent of the healthcare crisis in their country, and without that information it is impossible to tell the speed at which the coronavirus is spreading which makes this even more irresponsible because how can they say that the number of infected persons in their country is low when they do not really know that information for sure.
Just let them be but if mass testing would be held out then im sure that this isnt the number of cases who test out positive into that country.
Its understandable that everyone is bored and boxers and associations do need money but it isnt really that worth to make these events in middle of pandemic.
Hold a little bit more until the vaccine is made for us to go back into our normal lives. If ever the situation becomes worst in Nicaragua then theres no one
to be blamed but its president or the one who let that event happen.

They knew that it's a world crisis, a pandemic that can endanger the entire humanity. And they don't take cautious because the total confirmed cases is too low and they probably have isolated those confirmed patients.
But they are already sure that no one had been infected by those who have been positive? Its still dangerous if they do continue these practices.
Social distancing is the new normal now as long we dont have still a cure yet.
While the vaccine isn't made, all of those reminders that we are getting from the health department should be applied and must be practiced. They have small case but those preventive measures were done by them but we're still not satisfied because in our thoughts, this fight should have not been done.

They shouldnt wait for those numbers to shoot up or else they would surely regret on the decision they had made.
Avoid crowd on any cost or doesnt really make events that would generate crowd. All been affected by means of
economy but its just not right to continue if the problem still persist.
It's for them to decide and I think with the few days of observation with the count of cases there, it's undeniable that they are doing good.

The whole idea is for entertainment. This is fun. It doesn't make sense wearing mask while they shake hands.

Every round they would have to rub antibacterial gel and checks body heat, don't they? The audience would just hi 5 to their own selves when their favorite fighter hit hard the other fighter.

You are definitely wrong. There is no selfish part. They continue the fight because the promoters were allowed by the government itself.

The country itself is promoting to act normal there like before that's why some businesses continue.

We can't do anything about it nor we are in place to say, "hey damn you all! pls, stop any mass gatherings!"

Let's just hope that their confirmed cases will not be worst. The fight already happened so even we whine here, it's already done.

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
May 01, 2020, 04:53:26 PM
Though 15 confirmed positive is a very small percentage out form the total population, I'm worried about if social distancing isn't maintained so well and it might lead to its widespread in at that area. I don't know how people think about it coz for sure, social distancing will surely violate unless they are strict enough with the numbers of people inside.

In this situation,  I know if they get approval from the authorities otherwise they running this back illegally and it needs the authorities to be warned before anything worse will happen.

I do not know but I think it still violates the rules or procedures.
they shouldn't do this because it's no longer a plague between 1 or 2 countries, but it covers the whole world, if indeed the reason is
because they need money to eat, I guess they can still do something else.
