The decision  and draw looks very attractive.

But I don't see it happening, with Tank Davis, we all know that he can bring his power to this weight class so most likely we will have a knock out here.

Davis by KO is 1.62
Barrios by KO is 7.20

Anyhow, final presser:

Both looks very cool at the press conference, but Davis is very confident. And he says he loves to fight taller guys because they think that he is small and can take him out easily. Both though are soft spoken, which makes this fight very intriguing. As we all know, fighters who talks less uses their hands more in the ring. So let's see, Tank Davis still @1.18 favourite to win here.

Odds are favoring on Davis even though he is the underdog of this fight.
Moving in one Division into a higher Division seems very hard but there are some boxers though who can manage to get a win.

With this match-up, I know that Davis has this tremendous strength but Barrios has the reach advantage of 10 cm which is kinda huge already and he has this height advantage. I might go with Davis thru Knock Out with this. We've seen some fights already where the smaller fighter won against a taller fighter like Pacquiao against Dela Hoya, Margarito and others and it might happen in this too. It will be a shame for Davis if he will not win in this fight. I will wait whose record will have a 1 after their wins after this fight Cheesy.

^^ As expected, Tank Davis is the favourite going on in this fight.

As you have said, he might carry his power in this division, but Barrios is long and tall and that will be one advantage of his. Also had power as well, so it will be a good chin test for Davis if he can hold against a legitimate 140 lbs now. I'm predicting a close fight and this could go on the judges decision. Let see if Tank Davis can go full 12 rounds as his fight usually doesn't last that long and getting his opponents knock out early.

Gervonta will surely win if he set himself up for incoming fight with Barrios and use his striking footwork to avoid the long-range punches of his opponent. Regarding judges, I'm keeping hope no one of them will be biased to any boxer; then Devis will demonstrate his  proficiency at a close fight. I would bet on Tank Davis.
I wouldn't say that Gervonta will "surely" win, although speaking of the odds, he is the favorite.

And sport bookies are favoring him because of this strength and power in both hands. Barrios is a champion too but he is relatively week as compare to our champion in this division. And if Davis is really that good, then it might not extend to the judges, he can knockout Barrios and be the champion.

This fight between two young American boxers is quite interesting and proves their future and I can't wait to watch it, and it looks like this fight will be quite hot and tight because both will wait for the right moment to bombard it.
and mentally and weighty Davis is still above Barrios, and both have clean records that are both unbeaten.
and it looks like the battle will heat up in the middle of the round that will prove who is the best and strongest.

Definitely an interesting matchup, someones winning streak will get broken, but I am hard-pressed to think that Gervonta will be on the losing side. Even tho he is moving up to light welter. If he would just pull the brakes on his arrest record, then I think we would see some greatness, even more than now.

It looks like Tank will be the underdog in this contest, he's a great fighter but is going to be moving into fresh ground within a higher weight division. Mario will be used to fighting heavier hitters and has a 2 fight win streak lead over, however narrow that might be in reality. It is definitely going to be a major let down for one of them as I highly doubt it'll go to a draw scenario. That is one killer record of 95%+ knockouts from Davis, Barrios should take it if he can block the blows properly.

I don't think it will be a problem for Davis so many guys have done this and still doing this, Manny Pacquiao comes from flyweight up to superwelterweight and he still carries those big punch, Barrios doesn't have a perfect defense, and Gervonta's two hands are power pack, we have seen how powerful it is in the Sta Cruz fight, a big puncher and talented like Davis cannot be underestimated, Barrios had a hard time and got hurt when he fought Akhmedox he was exposed here.

Yes, he barely won that fight against Akhmedov, just imagine if he fought other champions in the 140 lbs, the recent unified champion, Josh Taylor or even Ramirez, I'm sure he will be knockout by those two or at least lost in a decision.

And I think the height doesn't concern Davis, based on his response to interview. Elite fighters like Davis should overcome this kind of adversities.

Current odds:

Let us wait for more betting options, we still have like 3 weeks before the fight. But Davis is already the clear favourite although he is the one going up in weight. I'm looking for Davis KO here, I think that odds could be more attractive.

So it will be a chess match and he who makes the first mistake will loss this fight.
I'm not sure. I don't personally think anyone is getting knocked out, so whoever makes the first mistake needs to adjust. I do agree that I believe this fight will be won on who can neutralize the others persons attack. Tank has to neutralize the height of Barrios, and therefore close the distance, and Barrios has to neutralize those power shots that Tank is capable of.

I'm banking on Davis ability to bring his power to 140 lbs, that's why I say that a knockout would happen in this fight. And it will be his left hook or upper cut.

This is why I think it'll go to a points decision. I predict a cagey affair, both being a little gun shy in the earlier rounds.

Yes, its going to be a cagey affair, it could be a feel out round, Davis trying to see on how he can out manuevered that long reach and then Barrios, trying to avoid Davis power punches.

-snip-

Gervonta "Tank" Davis decided to go and move to 140 lbs division and is going to challenge undefeated WBA regular champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios.

We all know that Davis is one of the 4 kings of the 135 lbs but it seems that he will leave that division and try to get his hands for a third belt in 140 lbs.

The big question is if he can bring his power in this weight classes and it will be interesting that we have Taylor and Ramirez fighting for unification this weekend. Josh Taylor is the WBA 140 lbs super champion.

So we might see the winner of Taylor vs Ramirez fighting Davis too in the future.

It will be another big fight for Davis, but I think he can win against Barrios via knockout as I believed that he can carry his power and he will be comfortable as there's not much of a weight drain to meet the weight.

Betting odds are not out yet.

I think Barrios is better than tank davis in boxing has the ability to overcome every weakness and win every match. Barris has won a lot davis on the other hand was awakening his refereeing responsibilities with a competitive career wrestling under a mask as a master davis was a rare hill referee and showed vague bias towards certain wrestlers.

What the hell are you talking about? Tank Davis wasn't a wrestler. It looks to me like you are just using a text spinner to write your posts so that you can inflate your post count for your signature campaign. As a Sr. Member you should know better than this.

Barrios looks like he has the beefy side and he has a better reach than Davis but I am considering the fact that Davis is a Southpaw and that is the weakness of a lot of Orthodox fighters so I would say that this match is on a 55/45 match up in favor of Barrios.

Barrios to win via decision. He's got a tremendous height advantage, and also has the reach advantage by quite a significant margin. So, Davis is known for his knockout power, but Barrios has such the height advantage he should find it easier to keep the distance, and away from the power shots. I can see Davis having some success with uppercuts if he were to close the distance, but my gut is telling me Barrios will fight a smart fight, keep the distance, and utilize that jab of his.

It possible, but I think Davis will adjust as the fight progresses. Barrios might be successful in the first couple of rounds and once Davis reads want Barrios is doing, he might switch strategies and keep the fight close and then look for his upper cut or left hook. Barrios can't jab whole 12 rounds, at some point he needs to be aggressive and score some points in the judges scorecard. So it will be a chess match and he who makes the first mistake will loss this fight.

Gervonta Davis seemed to be comfortable and really feeling it on his last bout against Santa Cruz. It will be a shame if he will not be able to carry over his speed and energy on that last fight which proved that he's an undisputed fighter of the 135lb division. Barrios is a hard hitter, too, though it's not all about hitting when it comes to Davis—he's not called "Tank" without a reason. While I do believe that Barrios can carry himself pretty well against the contender, those left hooks would be a big problem if left unchecked.

He can bring his power but Barrios is also a very powerful puncher, this has the making a of a fight of the year, and I don't expect this fight to end in a decision, they both have the instinct to knock out their opponents, they'll definitely go for a knockout, I favor Tank to win this match, but not ruling out that Barrios can deliver a knock out performance against Tank.
