Coinmarketcap uses GoogleAds, so when Google bans all the cryptocurrency ads, the problem will fade away) Wait for June. I guess, this will happen in June according to their announcement.

There's been a lot of news lately regarding banning of ICO advertisement throughout Google Ads. It will eliminate advertisement that were misleading and annoying to the public. They are currently working on it and expect it to be cleanse by around June or July. So, I support what you have stated.

In fact, I have a post pertaining to it, which you can see here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.32368084

However, we can't blame Coinmarketcap for accepting such placements since the traffic of the site is heavy of crypto enthusiasts and there's no better place to advetise such one but to crypto related content sites. Also, how could you not support it? The statistics being shown there are quite accurate. Moreover, it's a good source for traders and investors alike.

I read that CMC would 'manage' rates and positions for money. Is it true?

Ads are very important for them to make revenue, if not they wouldn't be able to provide you the sort of service that they currently are. However, I think the onus is on the viewer to verify the background of the advertised service or product before putting in their monies.

We shouldn't recommend coinmarketcap.com to anyone. They are still advertising ponzis on their site. They should know better! No respect for us or newbies at all. Right now I find this garbage site in banner at top: https://profitablemorrows.com/

As far as I am concerned they use Google Ads for advertisement, so, if you want to blame someone, blame Google Ads. I don't think coinmarketcap wastes it's time verifing all the ads that display on their website.
You right I haven't paid much attention to their ads because when I visit this site its for specific data only.

Op trying using an adblocker if you still trying to avoid these ponzi projects but still want to use coinmarketcap, hope it helps

Guys, I wonder.

Are they(Google) gonna ban Coinmarketcap as well? They're banning all crypto related ads, so I wonder, will CMC disappear from the search?

Reread what you already said. Google gonna ban ads related to cryptocurrencies. Coinmarketcap is a website having ads like another site : press, statistics, online wallets, even bitcointalk. Will all these sites disappear? Of course no.

Google is well known for a ''Gerrymandering'', they would adapt their rules and algorithms to work under the jurisdiction.(Examples — US, Russia, Iran etc). So who knows. Bitcointalk might get banned.

It could be done but it is then another issue that isn't related to the ads restrictions.
For example banning and restricting warez, p2p cracked apps / torrent have proven that it is inefficient at all. Best example is megavideo, it was seized even and now it resurrected under new name : mega Tongue
Bitcointalk couldn't be hidden easily, and afaik many joined it because their friends informed them or saw it in other forums, reddit, social media...

(sorry OP for being slightly off-topic)

Thank you for the feedback.

We will see. I believe in Crypto!

I have made a few threads about this, really annoying to see. I have not been using them at all since I am really only focused on a few coins.

If you are asking us to boycott Coinmarketcap for the stated reason, you should at least provide a credible alternative that provides similar or better service.
I see desearch.io can replace CMC easily. Good service, no advertising and all the info about crypto at one place

I've been using Desearch a lot lately! There exist so many coins/tokens these days! Desearch seems to be very helpful! And not only for newbies!

Most of the ads running on coinmarketcap are google ads, and crypto related.  If the ads are pintos base than people should use their mind before investing. Recently google already announce to ban crypto related ads.

coinmarketcap has definitely become annoyingly advert heavy lately so its good that some competition has come along. But these sites have to fund themselves somehow so once the sites listed above get the visitors the ads will come.

With the market the way it is a the moment its not worth looking at it anyway. Too painful   Angry Angry Angry

Someone already gave the answer in the first page, read the topic before replying, it is only two pages...

CMC is only a site which we get  very large info.
Are you sure?

https://www.livecoinwatch.com/
http://coincap.io/
https://coinkapp.com/
https://coinlib.io/coins
https://onchainfx.com/

And many more...

I don't think ads will do anything with our opinions as we see it's ad.  All CMC does about ads (if not Google ads) only taking money and showing ad. it's net their responsibility to investigate all ads and then share
It is if they are promoting a scam which only purpose is to steal people's money.

I remember that they used to promote a Bitconnect ad at the top of the page and they didn't care even after the community started complaining about it.

I believe, they don't directly have any control over the ads they serve because the use Google's ad service. So I can't blame coinmarketcap for that, but you can stop using google if you think they should not serve ponzi ads. Lol!!

But if we keep the ads aside, do you know any other website that can replace coinmarketcap? It is really informative and well maintained and I don't think we have any alternative available currently.
Why do people making this as an issue since those ads aren't controlled by coinmarketcap itself since google do have the it.If you are a newbie and doesn't any have knowledge into these Ponzi things then most likely you will really end up on investing on it but it isn't right to blame CMC because you have been scammed. You can really just set aside those ads and just only see or check on what you are trying to seek out.CMC is the most reliable site for me when I do check market situation.

Seems like the do manage the ads directly through their own ad server. You have to submit a request via a Google doc in order to advertise with them. That said, it's difficult to police all the campaigns, and the company in question is supposedly out of Australia, which is supposed to have safeguards in place for ICOs. It would be a good step for them to vet their advertisers a little better, but it's also down to investors to do their research before parting with their money.
