Coinmarketcap is a mystery to me...
Heard that they don't even allow listed coins to edit their index pages.
It's like a fort or a trojan horse, rather, all nice and clean outside but strange and shady inside.
Lets see what comes out of this. Will we see a petition? When will we see it?

As far as I am concerned they use Google Ads for advertisement, so, if you want to blame someone, blame Google Ads. I don't think coinmarketcap wastes it's time verifing all the ads that display on their website.

You are right. I didn't see any privately sponsored ads there. All ads are from google. There is no fault of CMC. Moreover, google place ads as per client's previous history. However, you can blame Google here.

This, It's not something that you can really blame them for. Are we going to boycott Youtube too? Best solution is just downloading adblocker. CMC DOES do some shady stuff, but this isn't one of them. Take for instance the fact that CMC switched to ETH as a price comparison when BTC was at all time low dominance, or that when prices in South Korea for bitcoin were hitting 30k and the prices were excluded from CMC.

We shouldn't recommend coinmarketcap.com to anyone. They are still advertising ponzis on their site. They should know better! No respect for us or newbies at all. Right now I find this garbage site in banner at top: https://profitablemorrows.com/

The market will always be full of scammers, if you know nothing DYOR. When I first read Bitconnect whitepaper I felt sorry for the investors, actual fact I think they had a good run, I thought it will go bust much sooner.

Don't shoot the messenger

In Blockchain We Trust!
Agree.
They raised on a community trust. But now they act totally unprincipled (especially in terms of advertising) Sad

Caveat Emptor!  Or 'Let the buyer beware';  Coinmarket Cap provides a wonderful, easy to use reference resource and if the price is to ignore the ads then it seems to be more than a fair trade.

No one if forcing you to click on any of the banners there..........

I agree with you to some extent, but we should be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Coinmarketcap is man-made like every other site out there. You cannot
rely or trust completely any site considering that you are not in control of what is published
or displayed. What you can do is to make particular inquiry or verification prior to making
or taking any business decision.Sometimes, people may even depend on a particular site,
before long, the site goes down forever! It has happened severally.Hence, we should always trade
with caution in any case.

It doesn't bother me, people were complaining when they had Bitconnect on their as well. It's a business, they need to maintain that website. I just use them for reference, dismiss all the other bullshit.  Smiley

It's a paid advertisement and I think they need fund also to stay online. Why bother yourself with such advertisement it's not your purpose in visiting CMC. No one is forcing us to visit coinmarketcap, we are free to go to similar sites with no ads, like http://coincap.io/.

Well getting money for free will make them reviewing less the content which isn't obvious sometimes / hard to say whether it is a scam or not sometimes.
Google ads offers a reporting function so it is a little bit "better".
I check it from time to time since I don't know (searched precisely) similar sites (until the previous post maybe)

CMC is only a site which we get  very large info.
Are you sure?

https://www.livecoinwatch.com/
http://coincap.io/
https://coinkapp.com/
https://coinlib.io/coins
https://onchainfx.com/

And many more...

I don't think ads will do anything with our opinions as we see it's ad.  All CMC does about ads (if not Google ads) only taking money and showing ad. it's net their responsibility to investigate all ads and then share
It is if they are promoting a scam which only purpose is to steal people's money.

I remember that they used to promote a Bitconnect ad at the top of the page and they didn't care even after the community started complaining about it.

I find the ads annoying and misleading too. But is there any other alternative which provides the wealth of info CMC provides?

It was never a problem for me because I never went to that site to see advertisements. I went there to check my coin prices. Best of all, the ads are also not pop ups and they also have no recommendations. The sites that really need to be boycotted are the ones that make dishonest reviews of the shitty ICOs.

It would 100% be a different story if CoinMarketCap was actually endorsing the ponzi advertised on their website. Users must always remain diligent in this space. Unfortunately, Capitalism and increased bottom line margins sometimes beat out potential schemes.

I think it's wrong since there's "Advertise" link on left-bottom of their homepage. Even so, i think blaming coinmarketcap.com isn't best idea since i think they don't review what kind of content they advertised Roll Eyes
