The revolution will be digital
I think that the point when apple accepts bitcoin for everything (app store, itunes, products), and once companies like paypal create their own solution for it (like being able to convert btc to usd in the paypal account just like any other currency), thats when it will be mainstream and used by the world.
When apple starts to accept bitcoin for things like it's app store and itunes it will likely serve as some kind of wallet service as they would want to guarantee that they get paid and so they can avoid issues with a TX never confirming. This would greatly reduce the stress on their customer service team if they have a lower number of TXs going to them.
I think all of the companies like apple, amazon, and ebay/paypal would have to develop their own payment receiving solution. If there would be one that everyone uses, it would be probably created by paypal.

I tell u guys again... dont daydream about Apple. They are not gonna accept it against their products anytime soon. First they'll try their own currency, fail and then only give it a shot. Else they'll wait for OPEC to accept it.

Dell also sells other useful things, not JUST their computers (which you can like or hate at your whim)...
Tempted to buy an Xbox One from them...with bitcoin...because I can. And yes, I just followed "useful things" up with video games.

And those saying how is it better than a credit card since I have to give my address / name still?

With a credit card I give you my name, my shipping address (includes zip code), and my credit card number, and allow you to PULL money from me. And in doing so, you have everything you need to pull more of my money in the future without me knowing (until the bill comes in or the alarms go off)

With Bitcoin I give you my name, my shipping address, and then I PUSH money to you. And you can never touch my money again. Even if they're hacked, they may get my name and address, but my money is still mine.

That is the biggest and most important difference. You're never giving the access to your money away, you're simply sending money to them.
Credit cards, checks, they all have the necessary information to get more of your money if someone wants to be devious enough. Bitcoin doesn't.

Now I can buy without converting BTC to Fiat. Cheesy I can assure you that they are making a great profit than earlier. Roll Eyes I hope Apple accepts BTC soon. Roll Eyes

This is actually surprising. shrug. Lets see how it goes.

The challenge will be persuading the 70% of Bitcoin HODLers to actually spend their coins.

Thats fine, then the price goes up and 0.01 = 1 dell computer  Grin

Long story short: Everyone will go back to being greedy fucks and not spend their btc... as usual...

No stupid fck, as the price of btc rise, the more btc will be spent and distributed. This is why "bubble" is healthy in the early stage of adoption. I expect btc will have 2-3 more bubbles b4 going mainstream.

I hope that either Tigerdirect or Newegg starts paying Dell in Bitcoin for some of their B2B purchases. That would be huge.

Now i would like to see www.dx.com starts accepting btc, they are so cheep and have everything u need.

@Sydboy

This might be available only in the US as never saw them elsewhere

To bad.
I really hope that this US based companies will give the same payment conditions to both US and not US citizens.
Bitcoin don't belong just to one particular country, any way.
