Yes oooh, it has come to stay, and All the Nigerian are rejoicing because we have passed through hell in this few months, and I begin to imagine if this didn't stop, what would have been the faith of the poor mases, because it dangers our life before, but I still have a question to ask,why did the know that at the end they will return this old naira note and they allow the mases to go through this kind of hardship and intimidation and harrashment before bringing back the old naira note, how are they going to pay back those who have lost their lives on this issue,or those who have lost their business, are they going to pay them for damage or it will just end like that..?

Emefiele should not be able to keep his job after that shitshow policy but this is Nigeria where leaders are not held accountable. Imagine the suffer we had to suffer because he was so adamant on not bowing to court rulings only for him to come back and reset the policy to how it used to be. The policy doesn't make any sense to me in the first place because the percentage of contesting politician is very minute when compared to the masses that will suffer for a policy made because of <0.1% of the population

Me I dey happy atleast the old currency wey dey people hand Dem go use am at else, because for me myself, both the old or new currency I no get anyone, but with wetin I dey see for my area now, if you want go buy something with the old currency Dem go first reject am oo, na you need to dey explain say supreme Court don give order say the old currency na legal tender before Dem fit collect with an assurance say if Dem no spend am, it will be returned back to you,

Market women sef no dey collect at all, as far say na old currency, Dem go tell you say Dem never hear anything like that, e come belike say market women need to come together and approve the old currency again to be legal tender, because e come belike say market women don big pass supreme Court..

Finally CBN don talk say make commercial banks begin reissue old 1000, 500 and 200 notes as them remain legal tender until Dec 31 2023, as the Supreme court don already talk for their verdict on this matter. Nigerians they vex say why Godwin Emefiele bin they wait for this long before him go give commercial banks the directive based on Supreme court ruling, truly e no make sense, e come be like say the CBN governor they enjoy as Nigerians they suffer based on this senseless policies on cash.

Having said that, i they believe say by next week the sufferings go reduce on Nigerians, because by then the old and new notes go don they circulate wella, and we no go gats they use naira to they buy naira again. I they very sure say the next president go change this CBN governor, he is very clueless to as financial matters.

We dey hope say the money go circulate more after CBN don announce say make dem dey accept all old notes as legal tender too. But now, my big concern be say CBN don collect almost all the old naira notes into their custody and I dey sure say dem go don burn them, so na only few go dey in circulation now. And remember the Governor been talk one time say paper no dey to print new money, that means the limit don reach be that.

The big percentage of Old naira notes with CBN are burnt already, no paper to print new notes, villagers will still withdraw old notes from bank and go and hide in the village since they’re not used to saving money in the banks. Do we expect to see more notes in circulation even after the ban on the use of old naira notes has already been lifted by CBN??

The supreme court on Friday nullified the ban by the central bank of Naija CBN on the use of the old #200, #500, and #1000 bank Notes as legal tenders. It was a great celebration in my area today for the pronouncement of the judgement because, some people still have old naira notes with them that made them to feel  this is the best opportunity for them to make use of them. Are you happy about the supreme court judgement?
My broad, dem don suffer us before court come de talk say d old note still be legal tender, me and you know say almost all d old notes don go back to them as dem want am before, so me I been no happy oo, make dem quick ma end weting them start, as we don suffer, make we keep am up.
Today I come de here say banks don de release d old note, I come happy small because at least this cash hardship go reduce small because dem don suffer us and bank come join with their network wahala.

This our country don dey become crush oo. The government and CBN never really let us know where we dey go with the naira especially 500 and 1k wey government been announced say don seize to be legal tender. Since 3rd of March wey supreme court don finally rule on the application of the states wey drag government enter court, say the 5h and 1k go still be legal tender until 31st December of this year, the status of those notes still dey cause problem among naija people because some dey refuse to collect them while others dey collect and with condition say you go either buy costly on their own price before them go collect the old 5h or 1k and some self go refuse to give you change. I understand say those states wey carry the matter go court dey use the old and new notes together without ish but some states no be like that and for such state say bank dey dispense old notes but dem no dey gree collect am. Na this confusion make me say either government or CBN need to update Nigerians on the status of the old 5h and 1k.

The only time wey I go d happy of this judgment of old naira notes, na when the supreme court go questioned the FG and CBN governor seriously on why they go allow Nigerians suffer and pass through hell because of this old and new naira notes notes.

CBN still dey win oh from the update wey I hear. I hear say the CBN been anticipate all this fight back and that's why them make am mandatory say we return all the money to banks and them dun take am out of circulation so even though dem allow old note, e no go dey everyway as e been dey before, we go still get cash shortage so at the end of the day, their cashless policy go still dey functional. Na who hold old note when everybody been dey para na him benefit pass. So af the end of the day the moral lesson na say make we dey hold lol.

Even after the update form supreme court and CBN, Nigerians still dey overdo their own as dem no dey accept the old note. See news wey dey reach my ear so; Fuel stations, others reject old notes, banks ration cash

The fresh move by some Deposit Money Banks to re-circulate old N500 and N1,000 notes suffered a setback on Tuesday as motorists, fuel stations, retailers, traders, and other categories of bank customers rejected the old currencies.

The development came about 48 hours after some commercial banks, particularly Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Sterling Bank, began the disbursements of the controversial N500 and N1,000 notes across their branches in major Nigerian cities. Commercial banks’ decision to re-circulate the old notes followed last week’s Supreme Court order approving the use of old N1,000 and N500 and N200 notes as legal tender for 10 months. The Supreme Court had last Friday ordered that the old naira notes should be allowed in circulation along with the new notes until December 31, 2023.

Well I no blame them because who wan lose na, what if the CBN just change mouth that means all those wey get old note go get small comman as dem go either dey wait for line to deposit their money for banks or lose am totally. Sha I believe everything go return to normal after some weeks wey people dun sure say true true the old note dun dey circulate again and e dey okay to accept am. Nigeria no go kill person.
The shocking part for all this be sae bank no agree accept the old naira back if you wan deposit am back for their hand. No be wahala pro max be that? How can the banks be paying out old naira notes to Nigerian citizens, but they are refusing to accept am back into the bank for those wey wan deposit theirs. That makes me the ask the question of who the deceive who for this our country wey we d so? I think sae bank, FG, and Supreme Court they take us the catch cruz for this country.

I no even blame any supermarket or peso wey refuse to accept the old currency cos this our country get as em be walahi. CBN go fit wake up one morning sae dem no align with judgement wey the Supreme Court pass for the old naira notes. Since this our government like to put us for confusion state all the time.

As all this thing take d happen for our country, em come d make me come d reason sae, em be like sae no time wey banks carry the old naira wey we deposit for their hand go give CBN cos how come d still d get the 1k, and 5h naira in large quantities within short time wey d supreme court pass d final judge of old naira notes

Yes I am happy to hear the pronouncement, but my problem is can the central bank obey the the court order? because we have been seen case like this whereby court will give order and it will not hold water, could you believe that some bank have not started taking the old naira note, and some can pay it to you but cannot accept it as a deposit why,is that not a sign of disobedience to the court order?
Then coming to the supreme court, why must you have to wait for this Long because giving this order, after the mases have passed through hell and some have lost their lives on the process of this naira note, and some people have already waste the old naira note before this order, why Nigeria is treating the poor mases like this for Christ sake.

To dey happy about this mata no be the issue oh, the main palava now be say for your area people dey gree to accept the old note despite this supreme court ruling bcos this mata dey bring serious confrontation between persons Dem for my area lik dis. The people dey say president and CBN govnor Neva talk so Dem no go colet others they say Dem must colet becos supreme court don rule say de currency old note denominations dey valid as legal tender.
All of these contradictions between the tow institutions of the government just de cos untold hardship for the ordinary man inside de country. So how happy person wan com dey about this mata, cos it be lik combination of happy-sad at same time.

I am not happy or sad about anything. I am just tired of the country. There is nothing Supreme about the supreme court because their ruling keeps getting flouted and ignored by the people in power. I bet you that by December 31, 2025 both the new currency and old currency would still be in circulation because the court would have forgotten about their ruling. You would think they have the people and the economy of the nation at heart with the whole speech by the CBN governor and president, but when you look deeply you would see that it is a case of political witch-hunting

Seriously this our FG and CBN governor d use us play. They do whatever they like to Nigerians and expect to be clapped for. Wetin be the reason of spending billions of printing the new naira notes at the first place, if they know sae em no go stay for long. No be confuse and funny leaders wey we get for this our country "Nigeria''. If na country wey value em citizens, this kind drama of currency notes no supposed to d happen.

Up till now banks for my area no wan release the old or new naira notes again. Person still d buy naira notes for POS people hand.

I was happy and still am upon hearing this news, but am yet to spend the old 500naira notes still in my wallet from before, because in my area, no one wants to collect it yet.
If you ask me what they are waiting for, I wouldn't know. No one has agreed to spend it yet.
The CBN has to in agreement with President Buhari, make it openly okay to the general public to accept the old notes.
I however doubt pride would let this our big ogas admit their error in their financial policy lately and be apologetic toward the plight of the average Nigerian.

No be to even release the old notes be the issue now because as e be now, some banks done dey release those old N500 and 1K notes as confirmed by some persons on tweeter asking about update of the old naira notes but the problem na say, most people no wan collect the money from them if you wan spend am. The president and the CBN governor need to address the issue because the hardship done much.
The update wey you drop make sense well, i been no they aware say banks don they reissue the old 1000, 500 and 200 naira notes back into circulation, or maybe banks for my side never really start, but i they sure say very soon all banks go begin mass reissuing of the old notes, the problem now na why the presidency and the CBN never talk anything, tbh i don they believe say Buhari they like to implement policies wey go make Nigerians to the suffer, because if no be so ehn, tell me why since Supreme court give their verdict e never talk anything, even the CBN governor just they mute. These our leaders just they show us everyday say we they live for lawless country, and if e continue like this, people no go see any need to they go court again to seek redress on any issue, them go just take matters into their own hands.

But I'm angry that the current government played Nigeria in this way. From the rumours I heard, I understand that this policy was targeted at Tinubu as Atiku is the person behind this lack of cash flow policy by the CBN. I heard Atiku vice was from the same region as the CBN governor and they tried to make money not available to tinubu for rigging of the election but guess their plans failed as he still successfully rigged it and has been declared the President elect.
Supreme court don give their verdict, but since that day we never hear anything official from the CBN nor the presidency, even if Supreme court talk say make the old 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes become legal tender again until Dec 31, we still need the CBN to release the old notes wey them been collect, because as e be so there is little or no old notes in circulation. Me i no believe this one, na true say Ifeanyi Okowa and Godwin Emefiele are both from Delta state and from the same South-South region, but which power wey Ifeanyi Okowa and Atiku get to influence the CBN governor on this policy of hardship, even if we agree say na Okowa and Atiku influence Emefiele make e do this thing, who come influence Buhari? Because as president and Commander-in- Chief, na him get the final say on matters like this, without his approval CBN cannot commence with this useless policy. But Buhari approved of the policy, and even when APC governors were pleading with him to do something, baba kept mute and only agreed to make old 200 naira note legal tender again, the whole matter they confusing sev.

Underestimate- nothing
The new order given by the supreme court which the movement was led by Nasir el-Rufai and Yahaya Bello and other governors was not quite bad at least it will make the circulation of the cash go around if the governor's forum can deliberate on pressing issues of the country I think it will be a way forward for us in this country but it's only when it beneficial to politicians you see them looking for measures to help the situation, but despite that, it was a good one doh. I don't know if any statements have been made by the CBN since the declaration by the supreme court.

Buhari and Tinibu are both APC members, I think as a Muslim Buhari will be more open to Muslim-Muslim ticket because it supposedly favors the north. Despite the information circulated in the media, I do not believe the President made any decision to negatively affect Tinibu’s campaign. I have always said the idea of naira redesign had nothing to do with fighting corruption or even the elections. It was only a means for the Presidency and CBN boss to steal money in the guise of printing new notes. It was strictly business. Now that an incoming government, they have increased the date.

I know too well that there must be way out because I can't just believe CBN governor to just sweep all old notes within the period of 1 to 2 months without considering the total number of her citizens. Putting it into consideration we are about +200m did he think is only 200m plus are just in circulation?
No. Because it will be very hard to change the mind of every one in the country and coupled with the new note scarcity how did they want her citizens to cope.
Abeg I loved what they did to pass the judgement to use it to end of December at this people will bear it in mind as same time the new notes will keep circulating., Dem try to help our old mama and old Papa wey no dey save money for bank.
