Nothing surprising in their decision, though personally I don't like Dash for several reasons. I believe that they will list other coins as well.
Why would they add Darkcoin? Didn't Finex de-list Darkcoin because nobody used it? My theory is that the shady Russians wanted some type of mixer for their scandalous activities and aren't convinced a monero wallet will ever come out.
Exactly. Doesn't matter that monero offers total anonymity, it will never go anywhere as a currency or a store of value. They simply forked their tech and never progressed with anything except bugfixes, no marketing and also no features.

there's no doubt that ETH and DASH are projects of much different calibre (just look at the code!) compared to crippled coins alive only on this forum and only thanks to some obsessed (or paid?) troll

Adding DASH seems a strange move on the surface but is likely driven by perception of marketcap.

BTC-e probably doesn't add coins on a regular basis in order to avoid stuff that happened to cryptsy (if their story is true).
They only use seriously vetted software to make sure nobody gains access to their systems through leaks in the wallet software.
Not sure why they added dash, but then again, it is one of the higher volume coins so that is probably the reason.

This is actually big news - I think it's the first time they've added new coins since 2013. They didn't even add doge when it was really popular.
why so late to the party 
as much as i like btc-e it was always my question that why they haven't yet added ethereum to their exchanger. all the small time exchangers already have eth pair but they are too late after the pump !!

I am ready to watch what drama will be in trollbox both in yobit and btc-e as trollbox is always in heat whenever there is small annoucement in yobit. LOL

Isn't the dash backend much more similar to bitcoin than Monero? Ease of implementation of a clone might have had a lot to do with things.
Not really. I would say they intentionally didn't add Monero, because ETH is not a bitcoin clone and they added it anyway, they just probably didn't see any reason to add Monero.

Dash is indeed forked from Bitcoin so that would make things more easy to implement or maybe they simply regnonice good progress (anticipation on Dash Evolution ?) or perhaps they didnt feel like
getting left out as Dash is on a lot of exchanges these days :

Atleast DASH can be used for fast transactions and a good enough level of privacy. I believe there are far better alternatives for this, but not with a huge enough marketcap/liquidity.
