Seems someone trying to dump price before Consensus 2018 (which take place in New York on May 14-16). Ithink Bitcoin will countinure rally after this conference...

It's not even a 10% drop, so there is really not that much going on. For that reason it's quite funny when the price goes up like 10% people don't find it interesting, but when it falls 10%, they start freaking out.

Get your shit together and hodl through. It's normal for these price swings to happen, especially with how thin the market is. It only requires one relatively smaller dump to push the market down.

If the price falls down closer to the $8000 mark, which might not even happen at all, I will probably start buying some extra coins. The price broke through my buying range too soon, so this could be an opportunity for me.

But I bet "East" is again guilty for this price drop -more precisely South Korea : http://news.cryptoofkorea.com/2018/05/11/upbit-suspected-of-fraud/
Timing is a bit odd, we were going down before this news was released, maybe some people in South Korea knew about the investigation beforehand and began to sell?

But if the Upbit news is the reason behind the dip, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. In January, bithumb was raided by police and there was a dip in the prices, but it lasted a couple of days. People should look at this dip as the perfect opportunity to buy some cheap alts or some BTC.

Hello guys,

Does anybody know why BTC is falling like a rock within last hours?

If there any specific reason or just a normal correction?

Thanks and cheers.

Nobody knows what is the real reason of this DIP, one thing is fore sure. This ups and downs are normal and is expected because of its volatility.

This might be the cause of it: https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/05/11/south-koreas-largest-cryptocurrency-exchange-under-investigation-for-fraud/
The market is usually quite sensitive to bad news for exchanges (understandably so, given the past). Currently sitting in 4th place in terms of 24h volume, Upbit suddenly ceasing operations could potentially bring about the return of a bear market.

The prices didn't even fall to that low of a level.

I've been expecting this fall to happen for ages, because there just seemed to be no momentum to push us up above the $10k zone, where resistance was the strongest and there is also the psychological barrier present. When you actually zoom in in the past few weeks, you see growth of almost 50% within a few weeks, which can indicate an overheated market.

And whenever markets rise up like this in a short period of time, corrections happen. And that's exactly what's happening right now.

Gates and Buffett's comments on bitcoin could have been a catalyst as well, but I don't really see their opinions alone be enough to push prices down this much. Again, this is completely normal. Just because BTC has naturally corrected 5-10% within a day, doesn't mean that it's "dead" or anything, which I'm sure some bears will be quick to point out soon (wrongfully).

Kobayashi, Mt.Gox lead attorney has moved another 5k+ coins over the last 3-4 days it looks like. That could be a reason.
Another reason could be the search and seizure of the Upbit exchange in South Korea.
Furthermore there was not enough buy support to hold the 9k range. Sad but that's what probably made the price go down.

MtGox is cashing guys. I have seen some news about this information. But of course could be also a speculation.
the resistance point is near 8700. I hope we are going to see a bounce at this point.
Don't be silly, haven't you seen the news about Upbit? Possible fraud.

It is only a correction. We go to to 2.500 and stay there for a while (2018-2020).

These statements has been published four days ago but I guess the impact was been injected today.

Bill Gates thinks investing in Bitcoin is crazy, Warren Buffett calls it rat poison
Warren Buffett says bitcoin is 'rat poison'

So you think such meaningless news from Warren Buffet who is spread FUD against BTC for years can have any impact on the price?Well, that's really funny, I suppose if Trump say that BTC is a SCAM we are going to 100$...

I think this is normal development of events, since price is stay too long just above 9000$ level and it is failed to break 10 000$ this was expected. Also there is some reports that MtGox is moving some BTC yesterday, maybe he dump it again. But I bet "East" is again guilty for this price drop -more precisely South Korea : http://news.cryptoofkorea.com/2018/05/11/upbit-suspected-of-fraud/

It's just a normal correction.

I couldn't find anything major in the news as a reason that would have affected bitcoin prices on a large scale, or at least as large of a scale as we have seen. Prices have simply corrected as a result of $10k being too strong for the upward momentum to break through.

Prices could move sideways from this point on for some time, but that in itself only gives investors more opportunity to buy in at lower levels in my opinion. Nothing to panic about, there isn't even that big of a dump.

$8791 is the price of the bitcoin now from $9,000 plus yesterday to that price at this moment. But don't worry because maybe after few days again we will see again 10k dollars . This is part of the process of the bitcoin when the price decreased it will increase. We need only is to wait or be patient don't panic selling so you can reach your target price.

No news...  I have been scouring the internet for the past hour for a bit of news.  But there's nothing.  Maybe the bears were right.  This could be another long side ways market just like 2014 - 2016.

I wonder what the mood is gonna be at Consensus next week.  Lol.

There is no support/buyers for Bitcoin at $10,000. it is the "panic price" for traders cartel/gamblers since buyers at $6,000 will sell Bitcoin.   Grin
