Ok, that links the Reddit account and the Bitcointalk account, although it’s understandably nearly impossible to believe this to be a true story, and I for one am particularly weary of this sort of stories.

If it were true, to add credibility and get proper focus answers, it would be interesting to see some proof without doxing yourself. On the other hand, if you’re simply trolling, then there is nothing to prove to begin with.

I've already given quite a bit of BTC away since that post.

My bitcointalk.org username is posted on my reddit account under profile information.  https://www.reddit.com/user/EvanDelrona

I call BS. Of course, I’d like to believe in the power of rainbows, with pots of gold at the end, and so forth. It would make a nice story, one of those that hits the headlines and such, but sadly, here the story seems to come to an end …

Either you also posted on Reddit just over 5 months ago under a different name (@EvanDelrona), and made 6 Million $ worth of BTC in that gap(*), or this is simply a case of plagiarized copy/spin/paste (see https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/a9zkd1/millionaire_looking_for_good_causes/), posted on the 27th of December 2018:
Quote
I have been quite fortunate in life. I've always been super interested in new technology which led me getting involved in bitcoin in 2010. I obtained a substantial amount and made quite a bit from it. I'm currently worth $20 million, My finances are $2million in cash and bonds., $10million in stocks, and the remaining in bitcoin which is around $8million in current prices. I'm already an old person so the $2million in cash and bonds is more than enough to last me for the rest of my life.

I've been able to buy everything I have ever wanted and knowing that I'm not getting any younger I would like to give back to society. I don't have any children and no living family members so I'm 100 % sure I want to donate the majority of my wealth to good causes. I have done a lot of research on charities but I'm also looking for suggestions for smaller foundations and lesser known causes

(*) BTC on the date of publishing the Reddit post was around 3798 $. On the date of your post on Bitcointalk (yesterday) it was something like 9917 $. That means that 8M$ in BTC at the time of posting on Reddit should be something like 20,8 M$ (not 14 M$ stated in the OP).

. If you don't believe me, ask him to sign a message from a wallet with even 1 BTC in it.

That should be interesting. As he claims to have so many millions, a proof of having a few thousand dollars would be nice.

We are so used to scammers around here that we need to be vigilant

I want to hear what causes are close to your heart.

This is quite close to my heart. I try donating to Akshay Patra whenever I have something to spare.

The Akshay Patra. If you watch this video, you cannot stop yourself from giving something to them. A mere $20 can help in feeding a poor hungry child for a year.

I think you can be of great help to them. A very minuscule portion of your wealth can impact a vast audience through this initiative. If you need more help in knowing about the initiative or connecting with the authorities of this foundation, feel free to DM me and I will arrange for all meetings.

OP might be trolling or trying to pull a scam, but it's not really outside the realm possibility with how much the price of BTC has increased.

This is an old Nigerian scammers trick. "I have millions and I want to invest in your project" Just read some letters from here and you will understand what I'm talking about. https://www.419eater.com/html/letters.htm  If you will offer him any business, he will accept it. But,..... then he or "his" "lawyer" will contact you asking for contract "legislation" fees e.t.c.. "before releasing funds"  If you will pay that "fees" you will never hear from that dude again. Don't waste your time. And he received merits for his post.... That is really ridiculous. If you don't believe me, ask him to sign a message from a wallet with even 1 BTC in it.

And I absolutely wouldn’t want to compromise my privacy and security by signing messages or publishing my BTC address for the sake of getting believed by some random dudes in a cryptocurrency forum.

What kind of privacy and security are you talking about? He is not make his account on this forum with his real name, address or with something like that, so signing message would not endanger anything. Unless you think our two admins would check his IP address (if he is not using TOR, VPN) and made a great effort to find him and take his coins from him Roll Eyes

Maybe someone is able to connect an address with his real identity and perhaps OP would prefer to keep to himself his intentions of donating his bitcoins, or to whom he would donate them. There are many legitimate reasons why someone would want to compartmentalize their identities.

OP, look at Pineapple fund (it was already mentioned above) if you're looking for ideas where to donate.

OP since you don't have much time left to live (based on your words) you might consider donating some of your wealth to the development of the forum

This is not what the OP is asking for, and the forum certainly doesn't need any money. That was already said many times by theymos. This forum holds hundreds of bitcoins.

More income isn't needed right now
-snip-
Don't worry about supporting the forum financially.

First: you can expect a lot of begging Tongue

I want to hear what causes are close to your heart.  I already posted in some other places but want to hear your suggestions on how this wealth will be best used before my time is past.
Have you seen the Pineapple Fund? If not, it's a good start to see what someone who donated 5104 BTC did with his money.
To be taken serious, he started with a signed message. That proves ownership of the funds. People make up all sorts of claims without being able to back them up.

since you love bitcoin and you claim to have amassed your wealth because of it maybe you could start donating to different bitcoin-related projects
I like this suggestion. Coindesk has a recent article on Bitcoin Core funding, which has always been a bit of a problem. Miners take the money, not developers.

you might consider donating some of your wealth to the development of the forum used the donate menu
As far as I know, the forum doesn't need money.

What’s the deal with everyone accusing OP? Tongue

He is literally just asking for charities and projects to donate. If I had millions left, I would do the same thing. And I absolutely wouldn’t want to compromise my privacy and security by signing messages or publishing my BTC address for the sake of getting believed by some random dudes in a cryptocurrency forum.

Just chill. In the worst case he is just a troll.

Emancipation of Mimi, can you sign message with some of your bitcoin address as proof that you really possesses amount of coins you are talking about? That's actually the only way that users of this forum believe that you have serious intentions, since we have such posts from time to time, but nothing happens at the end.

Oh. Weird. Someone into bitcoin since 2010 and is not a member of this forum.

But if this is serious then try travelling the world if you still can. And you will see what's best for your money.

It is going to be difficult to believe you for someone who got involved with bitcoin in 2010 but you just registered in this forum in May 2019. This looks scammy.

Well you never know right? He could be an active member on here but doesn't want to use his main account to avoid people tracing who he is.

Message to OP, I know this is a bitcoin forum but why don't u try funding other promising projects too like Monero? https://forum.getmonero.org/

Don't judge based on OP date of registration on this forum becasue my own case was like that, so many of us knew Bitcoin without getten involved into the happenings of this forum. I possessed Bitcoin since 2015 but got into this forum late in 2018 and stay active in 2019, please based on your rank, it will not be professional if OP is be judge based on his/her registration date without looking into what he/she stated as a good course for him/her to donate.

Nothing in OP looks scamming and let's not discourage Op becasue of our instinct toward him/her.

You also might look at information about The Pineapple Fund, which is an anonymous person who donated about $55 million in bitcoins to charities recommended by people on Reddit and Twitter.

Maybe you can try to donate your $1 million of money (or more) to various crowdfunding projects. In my country, there is some crowdfunding website such as KitaBisa, where anyone can list their project, funding target and so on. I bet you can nearly help all project listed here with ease.

You could also send that money to help open source development of some projects. Bitcoin was already mentioned, so I guess you can also donate to Linux, Krita, or other open source projects which most of the time lacks funding. You can also 'donate' that money via Patreon to artist/anyone which product something that you supports or like. You can also donate it to a social business foundation run by Muhammad Yunus.

Note: I'm not related to any business or services I've mentioned above. However, I did use or contribute to those sites once in a while. Do your own research, never forget it.

since you love bitcoin and you claim to have amassed your wealth because of it maybe you could start donating to different bitcoin-related projects that have been working for free and have been working hard to make bitcoin better all these years. there are lots of small projects to big projects that you can find on GitHub and Project Development board. i won't introduce anything because it would look like advertisement/begging but you might have favorite open source projects that you use or have seen. donate some to those.
