can somebody tell me when the privacyServers are apprx. expected to be launched/tested, and how difficult it would be for a non-web-programming-savvy person to host one Grin (I can do basic programming though, C, java etc and can learn that stuff quickly especially if it's profitable hehe)

Hey id10tothe9,

Currently you can build the pNXT server from https://github.com/jl777/pNXT. Compilation is no more difficult than any other unix software, just install dependencies and your good to go. If you need any help I'm more than happy to help you. As far as production deployment goes Jl777 is currently the sole developer on pNXT, currently he updates several times a day with updates into the development in this thread.

thank you very much! I'll give it a try in the coming days! (and probably come back with more questions  Grin)

So I was having a peek on coinmarketcap.com and ive noticed a coin @ #37 called "jl777hodl" is this the bytecoin fork testing for implementation with bitcoindark, if so then wow, do you ever sleep? Your speed and devotion amazes me. This pNXT fork is not buyable or minable correct?

I also completed one shift with 2.1 THs and got almost 4 BTCD which is waaaaaaaaaaaay low.

One shift is not enough to gauge the payouts. You need at least 3 or 4. You need to realize, your work may find blocks during a shift, but they may not mature, which is when they are sent to exchanges. That also takes times to.  So you're work will be spread over 2 and maybe 3 shifts sometimes.

You can confirm this by.... stoping to mine (not that I want to suggest that). I bet you will still get BTCD for shifts you wern't even mining.

A Chinese translation should be prioritized I think. Maybe put a bounty offer on the website for a good Chinese translation? Just thinking out loud  Smiley

Not fud, just a question.

Wouldn't "private" servers to provide anonymity create a central point of failure? If they are hacked, or a government gains access to them privacy is compromised.

Think six degrees of separation, in terms of someone hacking or gaining access to the service I think from what I have observed from sandboxing and what has been mentioned that since there is a temporary account that is created to run the transaction/communication there is nothing stored that could give up identity. In terms of the protocols being remotely exploitable nothing for me yet to report back on. But the idea is that you are connecting initially to a "trusted" private server ( self hosted or community hosted) so one would assume that if said private server is "trusted" then you would not have to worry about a government attack and that this host is fully updated and running as few "extra" services as possible to reduce the likelihood of an attacker being able to remote exploit said private server.
