You invest in something with potential

The potential hasn't changed... That is what I'm asking.  Why are people investing now that it's expensive and not yesterday when it wasn't?

I realize that this comes off as fud, and it sort of is.  But I honestly want to know what makes these things tick to know what to look for in future investments.  There was no new news, no new announcements, nothing changed as far as I can tell.  Why did this explode?

Bystander effect is the easiest way to describe. Everyone will ignore something until one person steps in, then slowly more people will join.

And the potential has increased more day-by-day with JL developing, and the post with the IRC chat between the guys helping. A coin created under the premise that the community will help each other, is developing exactly as such.

Also, with other coins having higher focus at the time [VIA, CLN(This joke of a scam), VRC(With the Fiat, etc), Etc Coins] the investing community has been spread out.

Welcome to the nature of altcoins and trading/investing.
Thanks for the insight.
It's so funny that you think you learn a lesson from history, then history pulls a 180.  Shibe was destroyed for having a name like Doge.  I figured this coin would get attacked by the dark community and the bitcoin community since the name is a double ripoff.  Then bam, 180.  The only thing I have learned so far is whales use counter logic to win big.

I just thought of a small leak of info
If I allow different length messages, then an attacker could deduce the type of message you are sending by tracking the size of the packets. Not sure how big of a problem this is. The problem with fixed sized messages is that it will waste a fair amount of bandwidth.

Ah, maybe this is one of the differences in privacy levels!
Yes, I like that. At lower levels of privacy, such small info leakage is accepted, but at higher levels of privacy, all messages will be of fixed size

James

You could always add random length padding to your messages.  However, this may be more trouble than it's worth for very small differences in size over fixed length.
good idea!
this could help, but I cant easily calculate the leakage as it becomes quite complex

Well let's see in few weeks if you still think it was expensive today.

The potential hasn't changed... That is why I'm asking.  Why are people investing even more as the price rises?  There's no real determining factor?

I'm sorry but +1 million usd market cap in 1 night without any new features added?  I really need to get out of crypto.

lol, btcd will get exclusive features that other coins don't have. (besides NXT)

He also edited what he had originally said, which was something along these lines, "2 Million Market Cap? With mining, won't the price go down?" which means he didn't even realize the mining is basically done(Unless you want to count the pool, which isn't mining THIS coin specifically).

I realized it or I wouldn't have erased it.  My thought was actually that it would go down with Minting... but 5% is pretty small.  But let's be realistic... Why do these coins shoot up 1million on promises?  There's no change between today and yesterday.

Thank you Dev.  Thank you for providing a stable coin and sticking with development in a time where scams have been so prevalent.

Coin should be at .008 later tonight
I hope not, I want to buy more. But the problem is that everytime I am awake the price goes up, so I never get a good price Sad

hahaha, how much BTCD do you own? (If I may ask Grin)
Well I did manage to get some nice amounts from WH guys, so I cant complain, but a lot of it is via sharkfund0 that I manage

I just dont want to make the same mistake I made with DRK. I got in early, first few days on exchange and it was .0002 or something crazy low, so got 1% for 10 BTC

As it kept going up, I could have been buying more, but instead I kept selling off half each time it doubled after 10fold gain.
If I had full confidence in their tech, then maybe I would have been buying on the way up, but with it being closed source I couldnt even look at it.

With DRK when it went to .001 it already seemed expensive to me. looking back, I could have made a lot more as it was still going up 20 fold. My lesson was that past price is irrelevant, what matter is the future price.

Now with BTCD I have an unfair advantage because I am pretty sure I can trust the BTCD dev, he's kind of crazy at times, but seems to be a decent guy Smiley

The coding went smoothly. Turns out I already had an API command parser. It would be a linear scan of all API commands, but at CPU speeds, no problem.

I want to make it easy for people to send using public addresses, but not so easy to algorithmically tell apart BTC, BTCD, etc. addresses, so I just lump them all together in a pair of hashtables and if they are there, then we have a public key as long as it was registered. Currently no protection against spoofing, that will have to be added at a higher level. This means someone can say that your public BTCD address is theirs. So what to do if there are more than one account with the same address?

Dont know yet. These are the type of things that are much easier to solve after things are working a bit more. I dont expect any major hurdles, just something to remember to make sure it is solved. I need an assistant to keep track of all these type of items that have to be passed before release?

Any volunteers? Must be organized. Thats about it

Of course I didnt realize until now I need an internal tokenized RPC interface function so I can call my own functions via API. Currently it is actually easier to do it via 127.0.0.1:7777/ URLs and that just seems so wrong to go outside the program through HTML talking to a libwebsockets interface that goes through authentication and finally calls the internal function.

I knew you would agree.

James

P.S. Let me offer a bribe to get a volunteer. Whoever becomes my assistant would know my schedule. I have noticed a pretty clear correlation with my being awake and posting, especially about releases, vs price action Smiley
