Most of the merit sources who were selected from the year 2021 are still active, and there are no complaints about the difficulty of obtaining merits, so I do not think that anything will happen, at least until next July.
Then again, situation in German board is not the best and its obvious that amount of merit shared in their board is on the decline, with last month worst in the last few years, and one of the worst ever so they could indeed use another merit source. The only problem is that theymos usually approved new merit sources in bulk.
Last month there were 124 active users making posts on all boards in Germany with a total of 1385 posts. The merit per post ratio is 0.32 because in February Germany only shared 444 merits for 65 users. Based on data, the number of merits distributed in Germany in February 2023 was the lowest since October 2019.
I support OP to be chosen as one of the new source. But nevertheless Germany is not too bad in terms of earning merit if compared other local board.

However, theymos never rushes his decisions and usually waits for the moment when he needs to make changes to more local sections of this forum and approve more merit sources.
I always support merit sources for local boards because many local members do not write in the English part of the forum and the visibility of their quality posts on the forum, as well as the possibility of getting merits for such posts, is quite limited.
Given the great support from the forum community, I believe it's only a matter of time before bullrun2020bro becomes the new merit source.
