It all depends of the price BTC are sold.. (I prefer to state it as : fiat Currency bought)

Whatever the difficulty or the power of the mining operation.. If the fiat currency is bought at a ration of 100 Fiat by BTC or 2 Fiat by BTC..

As an optimistic and a true beleiver, I hoard half of my mined BTC to buy U$ at 100 U$ / BTC ratio.

So, suppose someone mine 0.1 BTC / day for 1$ electricity, may end up 9$ profitable by day !

Keep in mind, if you buy BFL, you have some sort of upgrade path for the future.  Something you are unlikely to get with the other vendors, so if you're in it for the long haul it's something to consider.

Yes, the trade-in program is definitely a plus for BFL.

But I read on BFL's website that it will expire in March 2013 and I suppose the 2nd generation ASIC won't be available by then, so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of trade-in program unless it gets extended.  Roll Eyes

Wrong trade in program.Yes the FPGA "trade in" ends in March...BUT the "ASIC upgrade trade in" for NEXT generation ASIC's is what he was hinting towards  Wink

"As with our FPGA products, when the time comes for our second generation ASIC products, we will not forget our customers and will make every effort to transition you, the customer, to the second generation ASIC as easily, quickly and in the most cost effective manner as possible."

BFL's success is both a pro and con for the customer.  You know you'll probably get a good working product, but the lineup for it means you may get it way later than you want.

I wonder if there will be a BFL ASIC 2.0 upgrade path for ASIC 1.0 owners

BFL has stated that in their most resent news release on their forums.

Anything bought now will only be shipped after everybody else's orders?

Meaning we'll still pay the novelty price but will be probably mining at 25bitcoin/block + very high difficulty?

Is it a good idea to buy now or is it too late?

dont do it!!!!

Personally, though I have hardware early pre-ordered (June) I've recently ordered more. I suspect my recent orders (End of September) won't arrive till January, but they should still be profitable.. they won't be 3 month ROI's like some are expecting in the short term, but paying for itself in 9-12 months seems like a smart investment to me.

If you're into mining, shopping with BFL's competitors might be a good idea. Otherwise waiting it out won't hurt.

I've only found BitcoinASIC.com , do you know of any other serious offers at this point?

Is it a good idea to buy now or is it too late?

Sure you have missed a few orders before you, but its never to late to order. Besides, there is other ways to skip ahead the ques. By that I mean that there is competitors.

I think the ideal solution for me would be if someone wants to cancel their orders to sell me their position in the queue, does BFL allow it?

If you bought Single SC or the Mini Rig SC and want out please PM me.  Smiley

I'm in the same boat... why be 10,000th in line for something you can get from a competitor a month or two after BFL's first shipments? Also, with the rate of BTC appreciation, I would much rather just buy outright when the products are available.

That's what my original plan was, but honestly I'm getting more tempted by the day as we approach November and as they release more product specifications. I'd assume it's human nature so there might be many others at this position now.

Which competitor are you considering?

At this point I wouldn't pre-order BFL if I were you. Oh btw, did you notice you misspelled it in the title?

Thanks. How about BitcoinASIC.com ? What are they offering to compete with the Single SC or the Mini Rig SC? Where can we learn more about the company that will produce it and this project?

Personally, Depends on what your doing now. If you are a miner then getting something now for later is a must, However there is more than BFL out there, Might be able to get something quicker with another producer, It is really going to be unprofitable by end of next year unless you have a few TH systems or you don't pay for electricity.

If you not a serious miner then getting some for novelty is also acceptable.

You're right, anyone willing to keep mining will have no choice but to upgrade to ASICs, only question is from who one will buy it and how long until ASICs actually hit the market. From BFL's website they seem rather serious about the November deadline.

Wouldn't buying anything without an upgrade path at this point be useless ? Even GPU's with resale are pretty much break even now. I'm saying and asking this at the same time because i to have been wanting and hesitant to buy more mining gear, Minirig SC wont be happening because uncle Sam split my re-enlistment up more than i thought he would  Sad

I saw one on ebay a while back, the seller claims by buying from him you can jump the queues. How valid, I have no idea!

Heres the link:

Yah I wouldn't bother with buying a Q#, unless you can get it for cost or lower.

I heard BFL has a pick&place now. That should mean they can make hundreds of units a week if they needed/wanted to. Just order it direct if it makes sense for you to do so. It makes more sense the more money you can afford to spend on it. But of course, the more you're spending the more likely you are to wait until product is tested in the wild.
