So thinking about some of the earlier statements, along lines of 'CPU mining again..' Etc..so how would you prevent the GPU/FPGU & ASICs from jumping in and ramping the difficulty up quickly ? Trolling aside / April fools aside wouldn't this be a stumbling block ( excuse the pun ) ?

bytecoin will be premined?

No Sir!

The Block 0 will be broadcast on April 1, 2013. On that date everybody will be able to download  the client and start mining.

April fool, but, why the heck not, how many government currencies do we have - many many, yen, euro, dollar, gbp, why not 3 or 4 major crypto currencies ?

I agree on the points about try and bring some innovation to the game, will help it become a major.

I really like the logo, as good as bitcoins, if not better

How about change the white font to silver ?

Can it be taken up a notch??

Sure can. Here's version 2.0 with a fancy border concept. Remember that simplicity must be key here when millions flock to the Bytecoin brand.

I agree...the green is good! Being a noob to this world myself, I totally get the metaphorical symbolism.

I still think the whole thing could/should have been much...MUCH bigger!

Yes, this is the true spring!

Do people just jump in on mining these new altcoins in the hopes that they'll actually succeed? I'm relatively new and trying to understand it more. I suppose the costs early on are extremely low.

It's more about how bitcoin is extremely difficult to mine AND very expensive to buy.

In other words noob, you want to mine bitcoins? You need to spend thousands on equipment.
You want to buy bitcoins? Each one is 90 dollars...

Bytecoin solves both of these problems.

Stay tuned for more info.

I never got much excited for Bitcoins ... Bytecoins however, is the way of the future in my opinion. I became so stoked about this that I made a logo you can use if you want to.

Featuring:
Octagonal base referring to the Bytecoin root in the byte instead of the bit.
Green theme, as in the green we will make as Bytecoin soars.
Horizontal currency indicator lines, showing the break from Bitcoin.

Vector format PDF:

I like the octagon for sure, shape wise is perfect. Not loving the color or the internals but definitely a step closer and I love how you took the time to put logic behind the name and the design. Great job!

Edit: I look at it and the more I do, the more I like it. Green is perfect!!

Can it be taken up a notch??

Let's all have a laugh and guess how long till someone 51% it into oblivion.

I guess within 2 weeks.  Cheesy

Good point. I expect Luke-Jr will try it within 3 days. But... If we don't transfer coins then 51% attack won't be an issue. Some miners will just lose mined coins.

So my plan is - mine coins and don't worry about 51% attack. Later when a lot of ppl join us (newbies and GPU miners) Bytecoin will be secure against such an attack.

OK...after a little more research, I'm really liking this idea!

With a little more planning, the launch could have been something of epic proportions.

Imagine...the entire world watching the clock for the countdown to open the "Bytecoin.info" web page and launch their mining operations.

Maybe could have had Ron Jeremy hosting the launch of the Genesis Block!

Think BIGGER! Think EPIC!

The more people who join in, the better. How many people are expected to be there for a launch when one forum thread is the largest platform of information distribution?

Failure!!! This could have been HUGE!!

If they do that, noobs won't have a chance to voice their opinions. This is the Noobs currency my friend.
