Yes and no, but they define that gray border in their conditions, they are written there, but it will depend on the country to skip such a thing, in the United States some winners have skipped such obligatory presentations.

I think anyone would like to have that dilemma.  Cool

For privacy sake, that is why I prefer online casinos to physical casinos because if the guy have won that amount in an online casino,  no one will even know about his winning and at that, there won't be any possible security risks such as in this case,  a lot of those who won such an amount will not come out to take their rewards openly for fear of being robbed or even taxed.

So some of them will rather choose that the reward be given in proxy or even in a secret ceremon  unless in cases where it is stated in the terms and conditions of the casino that claiming the prize will require them to go public,  only then you can not have any choice than to abide by the roles.

The casinos are using the winner to promote themselves. He won, but the business wants additional profit from this win, profit that the winner doesn't have to give them.
He should protect the right to privacy and ask them not to show his full face in the media, or he could come in a mask (worst case scenario, he can claim he's afraid of covid and cover his face or something like that). If he signed something in the ToS that he will have to attend a public ceremony, he can come in a hat and sunglasses and at least make himself hard to recognize.

Sometimes people do doubt the favor they these gambling platforms do have the ability to pay out big winning when their clients do win, so this doubt by the public has led to most gambling platforms and lottery announcing and bringing their big wins to the public so as to build more confidence with them as it regards been able to pay.

But then I think the winner still reserves the right to stay anonymous because it's not stayed in their agreement or policy that they must be publicly announced in cases of wins so I think that gives them the right to turn down public presentations especially when they feel threatened security wise. I have not made an actual research into this but I think it's applicable and the casino or gambling platform understands  how well the privacy and security of their customers should be treated.

Public presentation are meant for more popularity and recognition for that platform. But by no means they are allowed to make the winner's identity public. The decision should be made only by the winner if he wants it to be public or not. Imagine owning that much money while your privacy has been compromised. That situation could turn out to be life-threatening. When the life is at stake, Will he gamble on that? Of course not.

So the answer is, a mega winner actually can say no to public presentation if there's a law regarding privacy safekeeping. Also, it is his own right to keep his privacy safe. Good for the platform but really a bad decision for the winner. Even if the platform offers some extra money, the winner should never go public. That little amount of money does not compare to his life and his own safety.

Depends on the law. For most countries, to ensure that no one's going to shank them when they start walking in Crime Alley like batman's parents they hide the winner's faces, some don't even announce where the winner hails from to make sure that their identity is kept secret no matter what. I don't think it's safe for the winner as well to have his whole face and likeness be paraded across the country just so the sweepstakes company could show their patrons that they do pay. It's stupid.

I get that some winners would want to publicize themselves but the default should be the complete obscuring of their identity to make sure they are safe against any assailant. The government and sweepstakes facilitator should know that.

This depends if the gambler wants his winning to be publicize. One thing that I know that is the reason behind bookies publicizing  a gambler big win is so that people can see that the casino is trustworthy and to gain more reputation for the casino, so that more gamblers can see that the casino is reliable and start to patronize the casino. I don't think that there is any extra funds that will be given to the winner after he has been shown to the public that he won big. I will not like the public to know about my win, if it happens that I win big for my safety and privacy. As you can see the young man that won is happy in the picture that he is brought to the public for them to notice his win.

I created this topic as a result of this news, a young Ghanaian man won 6,000,000 GHC ($501,664) with a bet of 40 GHC. This happened few days ago and it trended on social media. Some of the comments from netizens are that the young man should leave Ghana to avoid being robbed or poisoned.

I know some of us must have seen the formal presentation of a mega winner to the public by a gambling platform. Most times, these bookies invite media outlets to their offices to cover the ceremony, so that the news could be captured on newspapers, tv, internet etc. My questions are...  Can a bettor reject being unveiled to the public? Are gambling platforms paying an extra money for the publicity?
Actually, something like that can still be done and indeed I also hope that there will be no celebration or whatever it is in order to maintain the safety and privacy of the winner can be kept secret but sometimes for a casino to do this, of course they also want more exposure because with a win of this size achieved by someone and the news about the victory is spread, indirectly this can also be a covert advertisement from the casino and can increase other gambling players interested in being in it.
This is like an unwritten rule but it always happens because casinos also want to take advantage of opportunities like this as an attraction for their own benefit.

There are many examples of people being or trying to be ananymous when they win a large amount of money. Large amounts of money for a normal person do attract different risks. Being anonymous is much easier online while offline lotteries prefer to share the person and how it changed their life and most people also like the fanfare along the win. Sometimes it's the terms and conditions of the lottery that comples the winner to express themselves on media while when not such terms in existence, there are example of people
Same goes into this winner too on having some costume.
https://news.yahoo.com/chinese-lottery-winner-wears-costume-223523976.html

If they would really be allowing such kind of publicity and minding about request of someones when it comes to their privacy then it wont really be that bad on wearing up some costume.
Yes, it do really impose that huge risks on winners side when it comes on exposing themselves to public considering on the amount that they have won on which it is really that
something that could make those criminals will really be taking advantage on, specially if they do know on whose that winner or simply being targeted by those people
who do have bad intents. So it is really just that your have the rights on making yourself that getting those win in private but if this cant be possible then wearing costume would be your solution.

It should really be that standard on where someone could have the option on neither they are willing to exposed themselves or not in the public rather than on making it compulsory or needed.
Well, for some part of marketing on why they are doing this but speaking about safety and security then it would really be that totally opposite.
For most instances which winners would really be not so dumb to make their faces to be publicize and we arent that a fool on not to know about the risks and danger on doing so.

I don't know much about this kind of things but we have hear these kinds of news that gambling platform paying the gambler and make this kinds of things from them for their promotion. In most cases, I think that such activities are done by gambling platforms to increase publicity. Moreover, if a person lives in an area where security is low, reading such publicity after gambling is absolutely foolish. Also I think private funds information should not be disclosed publicly.

That is true, just like this article says: Mega Millions: Can a jackpot winner remain anonymous? Not in these states

It is their rule to announce name of the winner publicly. So if you're from the US and in a state that doesn't allow you to remain anonymous upon winning the mega lottery then that only means that you'll be publicly announced and exposed.
At the end of the day, all of the winners will agree to publicity their real name and face because money is everything Cheesy

The only one who care about their privacy is never gamble in offline casino as they aware anytime they will need to publish their identity. Just like how free coffee or free dish promotions in coffee shop, we need to do and follow their requirements.
Correction: the individuals who cares about their privacy are ones who wants to avoid bad people from getting near them as others have also thought of. Of course you’d be proud winning from a gambling game since not everyone and not to all times there would be someone to be lucky enough to bag a huge win. Does not promote certainty that those who have publicized their winnings have put their lives on danger, but with commonsense, if it is potential of such thing to happen, then there’s a huge chance so we better make the adjustments for ourselves. To those winners who allowed themselves to be known by the public are also just following their rights but they should atleast be responsible of anything that could possibly happen especially with places wherein rich ones are few.

I'm not sure if you have heard of Mr banks, that guy won something similar on stake but he didn't stake with small amount, he used about $6k to win about $415k in good faith, he trended on social media for some days and man is still walking the way he likes. It's possible that the locality area where he stay might affect him if he continues to stay in that area but trying to leave the whole Ghana will be a big mistake for him because I wonder what he plan to do with the money and how he plan to survive if the money finish.

Deep down, betting platforms are usually sad and feel bad when people win large sum of money from small stake because they think they don't worth and that's why you find out that they want to use such winners as promotional material to let the other players not to give up because hard work pays but we know that out of 1000 small risk staked games, only 1 do make it which is always rare to find.

What I can say about this is, it's depend. If you don't want to be celebrated, I don't think there is such term for casino to openly celebrate you bit if you don't value your privacy and want to show off your luck to the public, they will accept that because the player is serving as a promotional materials and evidence that the platform is paying and people are winning.

A casino would get publicity and more attention if they arranged a ceremony to announce a big win or a jackpot winner to the public because that is beneficial for their establishment, but the gambler should have the right to say no to such things if they find this being a security threat for them since there can be people who might go after the winner to get his money and no one can say that it is not going to happen because we live in a world where a person can be killed for merely a hundred dollar bill, that's how hard life has become on earth.

So, I'm not pretty sure if a casino offers extra money to a winner to accept their offer to publicly announce the winnings but I think they would ask the gambler if they are okay if they announce it publicly with their face and name or even arranging some ceremony and inviting the media for the coverage.

If both participants are allowed to do what's on their mind, the player won't accept the offer, while the casino would do anything possible to get the player to accept. Yet, it's very risky on the side of the player. It won't make him happy and may require him to have scary thoughts. The best way is for the casino to make an anonymous TV show, explaining how they paid out a whooping amount of money to a winner. Which they don't want to publicly share his details and personality. It'll still give them the publicity they want and also attract players who value privacy. We all live in a chaotic world of terrible events happening because of money. How would a person want to come out plain to show the world they've gotten that rich. It's not a type of development anyone would welcome. Unless the person's name won't be mentioned and with their face covered like the photo I saw above. It can be a bit bearable. Or if the casino insist on handing out the Cheque to the person on the day of the event. Then the player won't have any other reason not to attend. Aside that, no player, like myself, would accept such a proposal.

It's your money and personality bro, you are free to decide on what you want without anyone infringing on your privacy rights. Some people might be camera-shy while others might not just want it due to popularity problems and some ugly aftermaths.

It depends on the arrangement and how the winner in question understands the situation.

Although it might be in the terms and conditions of the casino that they have the right to use a certain winner at their discretion for such a task. In that case, the winner will have no just but to oblige. But in a different case, the winner might charge them extra or do it for free, it all depends on the person in question.

I guess it depends on what State if you are in the US,

Quote
16 States Where Lottery Jackpot Winners Can Remain Anonymous

-Arizona (only for winners of $100,000+, but city and county will be revealed)
-Delaware
-Illinois (only for winners of $250,000+)
-Kansas
-Maryland
-Minnesota (only for winners of $10,000+)
-Mississippi
-Missouri
-Montana (town or city may be revealed)
-New Jersey
-New Mexico (only for winners of $10,000+, but you can request anonymity if you have security concerns)
-North Dakota
-South Carolina
-Texas (only for winners of $1 million+)
-Virginia (only for winners of $10 million+)
-West Virginia (only for winners of $1 million+)
-Wyoming

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/remain-anonymous-win-mega-millions-182448839.html

So maybe other States wanted to let everyone knows that some real person won the lottery and that it was not rigged or something and so it is allowed publicly for anyone to check.

But for me, for privacy safe I would rather remain anonymous, I don't want anyone to know that I have won the lottery.

So with that, it really depends on what State or what the laws of your country, if you can remain hidden from the public eye, the better for you.

It’s quite funny that this is spelled out in the law, although in my opinion this can be decided by the lottery organizers, and people themselves will choose where it is more convenient for them (which lottery to play). I find it a bit immoral and unnatural when the "curiosity" of the majority is satisfied at the expense of losing someone's privacy. If you don't trust that the lottery draw will be fair, how can knowing who won the jackpot convince you that everything is fair?

If Ghana has a privacy policy then he can ask the organizers not to do a public presentation, the organizers cannot just withhold his winnings if he declines but if he agrees to do that to also promote the platform then he should see to it that he ask the company for addicitonal protection, I don't know much about Ghana's individual protection and the peace and order but if the amount is too big a change of location will do him and his family good.
The family's protection is more important than money, now that he has this amount of money he can employ security measures, all I know is all rich people in a third-world country employ security measures and hire security companies to protect them.
There's also a possibility of leaking so the winner needs to increase his security whether he is exposed or not.

Yes we must seen the winner but they should not reveal his personal information since many people watching them and this might cost his life for putting his self at risk on public eyes.

If there's a written rules regarding on revealing the winner maybe its best for them to do something to protect the winner and not just to flaunt up because they want to gain hype for showing the lucky person who win on their lottery.

I know many people will get hype to this win but they should consider the danger it could possibly bring so if I am the winner of this lottery I will say to this people that I want to be anonymous since I don't want to receive any threats that can stress me.
