eah already are doing isn’t? I think they can very much co-exist and not just these too. I completely believe that down the line in next 3-4 years, I will be 10-15 Crypto Currencies that will be fighting for the top spot, so they all will co-exist and there is no reason why they can’t. The market is so big that it’s easy.

it has been 8+ years and there have been hundreds of altcoins fighting pretending to be able to compete with the first spot. in the future this will only change if NEW altcoins are created with some utility and usefulness as a currency in mind not with "how to pump and dump more" in mind and as their main goal.

so far ethereum has been the pump and dump to make more money. and it is not a currency. it is a platform for smart contracts which in reality is used to create ICO scams! so it is more like a double fail for it.

besides if you want to compare you should compare things in their own category. bitcoin is a currency. ethereum is a platform for smart contracts with token called ether which is not even supposed to be used as a currency. if you want to compare then do it with other smart contract platforms. there are a lot of them and many do it so much better and easier than ether.

Bitcoin will retain its leading position in technology blockchain, ETH technology leader in smart contract. Most of the development projects based on smart contract of ETH and both will have steps to separate, this shows the both can coexist and thrive.

Well aren't they existing already? And they will keep doing so for quite a long time I think. Ethererum is one of the top alts, and I feel there will definitely be room for 10-20 crypto currencies that have the best features to co-exist, so unless its a shit coin and has no reason to exist, any altcoin can co-exist with bitcoin.

Different coins can be utilized for different tasks some are more focused towards one type of objective over another, the market can absorb more than one crypto without any issues so I see no problem with it.

The real question should be, can altcoins co exist with bitcoin because bitcoin will be always here. Bitcoin has better support, a bigger community and a very active one. Altcoins including Ethereum are usually pump and dump coins, sure someone can make money with them by buying low and selling high because those have even higher volatility than bitcoin, but that's it, they are not as mainstream as bitcoin so their long life existence is not guaranteed compared to bitcoin.
Alts will keep on existing, while bitcoin is great we cannot expect that every single characteristic to be added to bitcoin, there are some good projects that deserve to exists, Monero is one of them it adds better anonymity than anything bitcoin has at the moment, some assets distributed by decentralized exchanges are good too, Litecoin is a spare in the case bitcoin died, even if Ethereum is criticized in the forum the idea behind it is good.

Currently btc judgment has not come to an end. There are still too many things to calculate. Investors are now safeguarding their money. When there is no specific or clear information about the upcoming btc process, eth ltc dash or some new altcoin will place the option to avoid storms. I think eth will be better. Its community and roadmap seem more potential

They have co-existed till now, and I don't see any problem with it. But this co-existence has not been very smooth. Ether is having a negative effect on the Bitcoin exchange rates, and at the same time it is very clear that ETH is not capable of existing independently without Bitcoin.
This is true because Ethereum is changing dramatically this year as prices have risen sharply in the last three months. I think in the future Ethereum will have a higher price than Bitcoin and Ethereum will be the top 1 in the cryptocurrency market.

It is fair to consider the possibility that one will dominate the other to extinction at some point in time. However take note that even right now ETH and ETC are still coexisting in spite of being pretty much identical in features and functionality. BTC and ETH are different enough that they have good reasons for coexisting while serving non-overlapping purposes.

Bitcoin and many Alts are already co-existing just fine. I don't know where people keep getting this "there can only be one" mentality from. If you look at the CoinMarketCap charts you can see that so called Alts, such as Ethereum have recently brought more money in to the entire ecosystem than Bitcoin did alone back in 2013.

It is no doubt Bitcoin is still the king though for now, but it will definitely need to defend its role more and more as time goes on and more competitors enter the ring to challenge its crown.

Yes, they already co-exist, no problem about it. But only one currency can be at the top and in my opinion Bitcoin will stay there for a long time yet and there isn't anything AltCoins can do about it, they are just a clone of Bitcoin.

We have already consolidated some AltCoins co-existing with Bitcoin like Litecoin, Ethereum, Dash... They will continue being AltCoins, but very important for some people who like to use it to trade, gamble, etc...

Of course. Why not?

They have been coexisting for some time now. Although there are ETH haters around. They say the only real crypto is bitcoin. I think ETH is a real crypto. There are also some more others who are also legitimate in their own usage. Remember that tokens are coming in numbers but they have a unique purpose to fulfill.

Sure they can. Also with some cryptocurrencies. Why? Each cryptocurrencies has different use and plans on solving different problems. Just like with Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin is made as a global decentralized currency, and is now also being used as store value, whereas Ethereum is made for smart contracts and decentralized apps. Two very different things in terms of use cases.

Yes Bitcoin and Ethereum is completely different things and both have their own features so they can co-exist and can share total crypto marketcap with each other. However BTC may always dominate the crypto market because Bitcoin have strong community and it have zero inflation while ETH is still struggling to get mass adoption and have some inflation.

ETH price might grow in future when number of tokens built on ETH smart contract will increase.

The real question should be whether alt coins can survive and co exist with bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralised cryptocurrency, which means it isn't controlled by any bank or anything else. Etherum is a centralised currency which means it is controlled by the banks. We are talking about apples and oranges here, they are totally different things, but they are also fruits. Not only will they exist together, but new cryptocurrencies will be made and they will compete with bitcoin also. I don't think bitcoin will be affected that much by alt coins

Not only will they coexist, but there will be new competitors. We've already seen some eth competitors and eventually one will have the technology to be better than it.

I don't see any reason why the two (Bitcoin and Ether) could not live side by side and peacefully at that. I have this nagging question: Is there really a war between Bitcoin and other coins?

What I mean is that we have to let the market dictates for everything. In the past, coins come and go because of the lack of support and use. Now, it is not up to us to decide which coin will die and which will prosper though we can all take a guess.

The whole market for cryptocurrency is global and it is easy for it to expand. A good altcoin can build its own followers and users...or community as they say. A community can make a coin grow and get into uncharted path so it will die and be cast away.

While Bitcoin is the King of the Cryptos...it is not actually killing other coins rather it is the market that can bestow a coin its place in the cryptocurrency universe.

Yes of course they already do. What do you imply?

The only thing people will do is buy/sell coins that they like or dislike. It is possible that ETH will surpass BTC if BTC gets fucked on August. But we shall see.
