I wasn't aware of any major institutional research on cryptocurrency and its quite nice to see it happening. BTC can become mainstream as its customer base is more or less there. I know that several universities throughout the world do have a blockchain division, which basically goes to show that if the academics think it's worth looking into, then we're onto something. Great research leads to great innovations, so we can expect to see some of those soon enough.

I do not think that bitcoin will find its use as an active payment resource, for example, in online stores and other services. Most likely as a "currency" it will not be used. But as an asset, when forming a financial portfolio, it will definitely get popularization. If don't face any barriers to this, for example, a ban or something like this.

I think it could happen in next 10 years. I am believe in next 10 years, most peoples in the world connected with internet and peoples doing transaction and any activity using internet. Cryptocurrency will make every transaction thru internet more easier and more safer.

I don't think that Bitcoin will become mainstream.
It's true that the concept of digital money will further develope and take more considerable part in economy but still I don't see Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency as a mainstream although I expect to be stronger and more accepted than now.

maybe it will happen in the future, we will never know because for now it has not run according to the actual bitcoin function. I think there are many chances from the latest innovations in the future, but most people would prefer to make assets rather than spend them unless bitcoins have a stable value, but that's not possible.

I absolutely think that bitcoin can really go mainstream and for me it's not a matter of if rather a matter of when. This is gonna be the future, wether some people like it or not.

10 years is a reasonable amount of time to expect Bitcoin to go mainstream. With all of the big companies adopting blockchain and accepting Bitcoin as payment and the recent World Cup promoting Bitcoin are signs that cryptocurrency is slowly creeping its way up into a wider scene. A lot has happened for the past almost 10 years. Who knows what will happen for another 10?! Great things I hope!.

The chances of that are high but for that we need faster confirmations and cheaper fees, in other words we need the LN to work as promised and I have hope that will be the case, once that problem is solved forever bitcoin will be unstoppable and people all over the world will begin to see the benefits of using bitcoin over using fiat and will decide in mass to use bitcoin instead of fiat.
