I agree: the forum already has its own currency which is the bitcoin.
Then let me tell you my opinion: I don't want to destroy your enthusiasm but almost all the coins that are born are destined to fail after a while because others coin that are temporarily more interesting are born.
So let's learn to appreciate Bitcoin more, which was the first and has never been questioned by anyone

I think he/she got this idea after hearing that Twitter might adopt Dogecoin as its official cryptocurrency Cheesy. This might be one of the stupidest topics that I have seen on this forum. A forum that came into existence after the launch of Bitcoin and has Bitcoin in its name still does not ring any bells in the mind of this user before posting this topic.

This is my answer to your question. Can Bitcoin Talk forum launch its own coin? Not required as we already have Bitcoin.

snip...I think they should launch their own Coin because it seems that Crypto is slowly becoming popular, so they should. A coin needs to be launched so I will ask the Moderator/Admin of this forum to think about it. (Just My Opinion)
No bro. It's a complete no-brainer because everyone involved in this forum who has contributed so much to us being able to join here has thought much more and more than just Bitcoin as a good and the best coin.
And Bitcoin is a coin created by someone named Satoshi Nakamoto and the person who created Bitcoin is also here in this forum because this forum is a Bitcoin forum that discusses crypto information with a wide range.

If you have the view that crypto will be more successful in the future, my suggestion is that you can make your own coin.

It is rather bizarre someone could participate in this forum not knowing the historical significance of it and the fact Satoshi himself was here not so long ago.

It would rather ironic, in my opinion, if this forum launched a token considering how many of us do not like shitcoins. OP perhaps did not notice the cues around here, like the fact alternative coins are restricted to their own board and the rest of the forum (or most of it) is dedicated to Bitcoin and Bitcoin discussion.

Better to learn late than never learning, I guess.  Wink

As time pass and new generations start to come, it would appear less and less obvious this is Satoshi's house.
Yes, I agree with you on this point, but there are many members who do not know this fact, perhaps others also do not browse the Meta section at all.

As for the OP, he's still only a member, so it's not surprising that he doesn't know many facts about the forum, I wouldn't be surprised if some old members also don't know these facts because as I mentioned some members only visit specific sections and don't browse the entire forum.

I can see that the boards that are crowded are the bitcoin, gambling and bounty board.

I don't think it's a good idea if what you mean is creating a new altcoin based on this forum. this forum is a place to discuss Bitcoin and everything related. and Bitcoin itself already exists, why should you think about creating a new coin?
this forum is already very good, even without updated shitcoins to create the pumps and dumps that developers would benefit from it. I'm sure the administrator didn't think much of that. even if it greatly benefits the forum.

You imagine headlines in newspapers, something like "the forum that Satoshi founded is launching a new shitcoin."
And what algorithm will this coin be based on and why is it needed? Bitcoin is enough to ensure the work of the forum, but altcoins are also not prohibited here.
___
I did not see a special team on the forum that would promote the community and attract new people, developers of other projects, and so on. By default, all forum members do this by writing good posts, but I think that this is not enough.

Bitcoin Forum is the best forum for Cryptocurrency
Didnt you mention it and know this forum already has a coin i.e. Bitcoin as you know, does the forum have to create another coin like: coin type BTLK=Bitcointalk or.........!no.

OP, Satoshi Nakamoto, has created Bitcoin and this Forum as a real discussion platform for all the communities in this world related to crypto/Bitcoin, is that not enough.

do your want this forum to be made like LUNA and LunaClassic which are worthless and worthless in the eyes of many people, I don't think so, it won't happen, we have only one coin here, namely: Bitcoin, you no need anything else, Bitcoin is already beautiful and the best coin.
If bitcointalk launch its own coin it will be a shitcoin. Biitcoin has been the leader of the crypto space and bitcointalk has always promoted the coin. Launching a new coin to me will look like creating a coin to compete with bitcoin which will be a betrayal to the creator of Bitcoin. If there is any need to create another coin, I think the best person to make such a proposal should be Satoshi Nakamoto and he has to give this community a strong reason why it is necessary. I will not even invest in a coin created by the forum because my investment sense is currently customized to consider only bitcoin.

OP. It's not necessary even though it's just an opinion that arises when you don't know what to do before you create this topic.
Bitcoin is the coin.

The bitcointalk.org forum is a space for discussion regarding Bitcoin which then in my opinion needs to be socialized widely.
I think all the answers are there to set your point straight.
I think it's time for you to take action on this topic or you need to wait for some other opinions to come so that it clears your mind even more.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Whatchu really mean by Bitcointalk launching its own coin?? See, does it really mean that at that point, throughout your stay in here, you ain't even got a clue of what's happening in here?? (Cus you don't....and you won't ask that question if you do). June 27th, 2020 till date?? Funny enough you've got an inscription on your personal text, advertising your incompetence.... lol, dude's an ass!!
When you call out the name of this site loud enough, you'll realize it has something that instigated its existence already,.. it's fair enough that the name was coined from it too, BITCOIN. I read below and you said something about initializing a coin for the merit system?? What' has that got to do with meritocracy?

You have got answer from many users that Bitcoin is the primary coin of Bitcointalk Created by previous Owner of this forum (Satoshi ). Unfortunately Now Satoshi account has been banned to avoid fraud/scam. Now new Owner of this Bitcoin forum is Theymos but Bitcoin is still the coin of Bitcointalk and i think there no need of any coin now.

There are two possible reason this forum should have own coins. First one for payment purpose and coin should be decentralized and second possible reason is giving tip to good poster, contributor to this forum.

if we talk about first one than Btc already exist for this purpose. For second purpose Due to merit system it is no longer required.

About BTCtalkcoin (TALK)
BCC is a coin made to reward the members of bitcointalk registered up till the announcement of this thread.
0.5% to be used in a 3 stage IPO. Details in “IPO Details” section.
0.5% to be used by devs for bounties, promotion, development, etc.
...
The Airdrop
We are not airdropping coins to citizens of any particular country. We believe crypto is for everyone and no particular country should get an advantage. Hence, we will be distributing TALK to members of bitcointalk.com which has the most diverse community with people from all over the world. As the new devs, we are implementing a new method of obtaining coins for the AirDrop called "Proof of Participation" (PoP). The following methods are how you can get TALK:

     1. Follow us on twitter and tweet to us using #Bitcointalkcoin with your address in the tweet

     2. Use our brand new "Airdrop Super Script" found here -> http://bitcointalkcoin.org/

     3. Simply use one of the exchanges that will be airdropping TALK
...

I am a bite curious to know why the airdrop has to be distributed to members in Bitcointalk.com domain?. Secondly how will one know which exchange that can airdrop TALK and lastly the address is it meant to be a new one or it has to be the very address staked in the forum

Now what's the use case of that coin OP if you can share what's on your mind?

I mean if you will create a coin, you must know what's the purpose of that coin right? I can't think of any use case of that coin at all.
Of course yes. Coin creation comes with use cases and there would be no reason to want to have a coin named after the forum. The forum itself stemmed from its coin which is bitcoin and the idea behind wasn't exactly talking about altcoins but yo provide a means through which users can get some bitcoin before cryptocurrency education. That's why you've got bitcoin to have a dedicated board as well as other related subs gor discussion on the forum while, we have all the other altcoins crammed in a board on the forum.

A bitcointalk coin isn't needed or perhaps, you need to spend some chip when you come online on the forum or mine them by how long you spend online... it doesn't make sense and should something go wrong, we might as well have washed up the forum.

You have already seen the names Bitcoin and Bitcointalk, but you couldn't see the similarities. It's not difficult to understand that Bitcointalk is simply two syllabic words, which are "Bitcoin" and "Talk". Two words are combined to get the forum name. When Bitcoin was designed, the idea of developing a community where users could talk about the coin, its technology, wallet, and mining led to this forum. Bitcoin got developed in 2009, and by November of the same year, the Bitcointalk forum got developed.

Whenever I see the word "guarantee" in every investment, I always think that it's a scam because that's the word most of the scammers are using.
I'm not saying that Howeycoins is a scam just because they used the word "guarantee", but I'm just pertaining to that word. Smiley

Hm, are you sure you read the linked post carefully? Or are you trolling me, haha.  Cheesy

(If not, I really suggest you to read @theymos post about the Howey Coin ICO).

It's somehow funny whereby you see some people asking about what they don't know had already been made provisioned, this is bitcointalk and from the name itself implies that bitcoin is the major area of concentration here, so many come to discuss about bitcoin all over the world on this noble bitcoin discussion official forum bitcointalk, maybe OP is assuming the forum community as well to launched her own altcoin which is impossible to do because bitcoin is what has bought us together here and which must be maintained.

The forum should have an Altcoin to serve what purpose exactly? How does it benefit the forum and the community. After reading the second and third post I realized you didn’t even know Bitcointalk history. We don’t need to launch a coin, I know other forums like steemit have their own coin which is steem that they award to their members as a way to reward quality posting. That’s makes sense for Steemit to do that, it makes no sense for bitcointalk to make an altcoin an official coin or rep the forum.

@theymos launched the official Bitcointalk ICO in 2018. However, you're pretty lucky. It's still running and you can still buy some coins, if you want.

Just check the official announcement thread: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT
It is an educational ICO from theymos to warn Bitcointalk members about scam ICOs especially at highest hype with ICO in 2017 and 2018.

Many forum members actually felt great with this ICO at the first glance. Honestly I fell into this fooled ICO from theymos as well but later I realized that theymos did creatively educated us about scam projects and how scammers team will use influencers, too good to be true offers to scam investors.

If the forum is to launch a coin what will it be use for ??
It would be a mean to convert merit points to something you can sell on exchanges.

As far as I know there are little to nothing that requires members to pay for anything on this forum so what will be the purpose of any proposed coin. Maybe the forum will now be monetize only those who are holders of the coin can participate on similar things, Rank varies base on your coin holdings, it's really better off for the forum to be the way it is making use of only Bitcoin as it's official coins which are mostly used when users want to purchase a copper member account which is even very little. There is really no need for any forum coin.

This forum was created after Bitcoin, which means it's a forum that will handle all Bitcoin-related issues, and as such, the only coins recognized by the forum itself are Bitcoin and MBTC (Milibitcoin). That's why if there is anything to be paid to the forum, like when ADs were paid for, you can only pay with BTC, and the forum doesn't need any other coins because it already has one.

You are right to think that way and Howeycoins was actually a promotional campaign on how scam projects operate. If you tried to make a purchase this is the message you get - https://www.investor.gov/ico-howeycoins

If it looks like a scam and smells like one, it most likely is one.

A coin needs to be launched so I will ask the Moderator/Admin of this forum to think about it.

Actually, the coin was launched back in 2009. It's called Bitcoin, and has been quite successful over the past decade.  Wink

But in all seriousness, why do you think there's a need for a new cryptocurrency specifically for this forum? What problem would it solve that existing cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin don't already solve?

I don't know about it Bitcointalk Owner and Bitcoin owner is the same you have any Source link Brother?

There is no single owner of Bitcoin as it is a decentralized currency that was created by an anonymous person or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The owner of BitcoinTalk forum is a user named "Theymos" who took over the forum from its original creators, Satoshi and Sirius, in 2011. I hope this clarifies any confusion.

Bitcointalk is now controlled by theymos.
Bitcoin has no owner. Bitcoin isn't like a company which is owned by someone or a group of people. Bitcoin is a trustless and decentralized payment system and no one has control over it.

Satoshi who created bitcoin, created forum.bitcoin.org as a place for discussion about bitcoin. In August 2011, theymos moved the forum from forum.bitcoin.org to bitcointalk.org.

Your question leads us to another question, which is Why people try to create their own coins? , fortunately, there is a topic related to this question Why people try to create their own coins?.
Back to your question it is not the first time someone has brought up this idea

The reason for creating own coin will be to obtain more financial support, and it seems that the forum does not need that now, or at least there are ways in which the forum can get money other than creating a cryptocurrency.

** The strange thing about this topic is that writing style is similar to your writing style.

when launch possible i believe world most popular cryptocurrency make bitcointalk forum own currency.

The Bitcoin Forum is a website meant to host free discussion of Bitcoin and related topics. It is operated mainly as a service to the community, and the vast majority of income after expenses is either saved for future expenses or reinvested into the forum or the community. The forum was started in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto, the original creator of Bitcoin. It is now managed by a dedicated team of admins and moderators.

Satoshi created the forum, but Theymos owns it now and is the administrator after Satoshi left the forum and the community, there is also another administrator who is Cyrus.
