BTC finds itself at a crossroad. As signs of mainstream consciousness of bitcoin increase, there seems to be a movement to marginalise libertarians and other more "extreme" beliefs in favour of a toned down more business like approach. It feels like everyone is starting to dress on their sunday best and focus completely on how it is cheaper, more private etc. I have no opinion on it except to think that some balance is needed.

Theres a subtle evolution going on, which you are probably well too aware, between those who want more anonymity and those who wish to appease, between those who are willing to give up even the most core characteristic of bitcoin (decentralisation), either through encouraging mining centralisation or in other ways, for more features or to make it more user friendly and between those who view that line as uncrossable. On the one had we have many "trolls" who kindly take to the community by addressing it as a cult, or delusional, or batshit crazy, and on the other there are many who work on the premise that if you build it they will come.

The fate of bitcoin is decided everyday, but it does feel like bitcoin stands at a crossroad of four paths. The one many hope for is very light regulation, maintenance of decentralisation while making it much more user friendly. It may well be the case that a second path of heavy regulation is more likely together with perhaps some centralisation. If we are unlucky, the libertarian bent is completely erased and heavy centralisation is allowed, albeit covertly. Worst of all, as price has continued to go down for a year now, the will of everyone is being tested. It does not help that, unfortunately, almost six years on, many bitcoin companies are still run by amateurs who fail to take basic precautions with their security.  A fourth path might be taken therefore whereby the price continues downwards followed by a gradual loss of interest to oblivion.

Which road will she take? Tunein in 2020 to find out more.

Maybe he could log back in and tell us what he thinks of the latest
FinCen/SEC shitstorm going on?

Satoshi, we need your guidance on this one.

I did read somewhere in the forum that Satoshi's id has been blocked/ frozen.
I think it was disclosed when Satoshi's email id was hacked.

At the end of this documentary The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin (2014) it is hinted that Mark Karpelès knows who is behind the Satoshi account.

interviewer: "Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?"
--- Karpelès: "Hahaha... I... rather not tell you, but yea."
interviewer: "Oh, you know?"
--- Karpelès: "Maybe not, maybe," smiles and nods.

If there's one person who doesn't know who satoshi is it would be Karpeles. I hate that guy, he's just trolling.
