Like it has already been said, this is absolutely not profitable. With almost every cryptocurrencies that you can mine with CPU and GPU, you will spend more in electricity than you will earn in crypto, so unless there is a big pump and you sell at the right moment, you will loose money.

The other big problem is that laptops are designed to be the smaller possible, and because of that they are often very badly cooled. Personnally, if I use my CPU at 100% (without using the GPU, and with no dust inside the laptop), it has to throttle a little bit, and the temperature is 99°C. That's way too much if you want it to have a long life. So there are two solution : you find ways to cool the laptop better, or you use less the CPU (there are parameters for that, usually).

So I agree with the others, mining with a laptop is not a good deal. Even more for Ethereum that will certainly not pump a lot.
However, if you want to mine just for fun (like me  Wink), then why not. But I would personnally recommend to mine new coins that are not very known and you really strongly believe in. If you can't afford buying a few ones, this can be another way to get them (against some electricity).

I tried to mine on the laptop - Acer aspire 5742G, video card - Nvidia GT520M 1gb, Intel Core i5 processor. First I tried on the stigma, there was not found my card, the ETH will not mining. Then I read in the internet that the only thing that my video card is capable of is the cryptonight algorithm. I downloaded xmr-stak, ran it, it seems to work. On the processor and the graphics card produced about 39 hashes per second. I drove into WhatToMine my speed, showed that on the most profitable coin I will have an income of 0.05 $ per day - payments for electricity (0.02 $ per kilowatt) turned out = -0.11 $. The coin needs to rise in price three times that I would mine with zero benefit on my laptop.

the laptop does not intend for large loads as in the mining, it has a weak cooling system. If you do not need it, then sell and buy altcoins

I don't have high quality Laptop. I have one HP notebook, can I mine by using this notebook?

for what purpose?

If you aiming for Profitability, then forget it

but if you are going to do this for just for fun or a hobby, then yes, you can mine with its CPU and mostly Cryptonote algos

however, you might lessen your lappies lifespan as it does not design for mining 24x7

so if its just for a limited time mining, go ahead and try
