I say no with mining on the laptop.

firstly, You should know how much is your laptop? it's 500$ or 1000$ and the purpose of laptop is for working and studying.
secondly, what about the profit when you mine coins on your laptop.? it's nothing and not enough for you to pay electricity fees and laptop maintenance.
Thirdly, Mining coins on your laptop will be damaged all hardwares on it and you will cost more money to repair it.

On conclusion, Never and Never mine any coins on your laptop .

Its true that mining with own computer or laptop cannot be profitable just because our computer or laptop cannot produce that much power for contribution of pool mining, so respected rewards are too low. So better to use external hardware specifically designed for better mining.

can i start mining on my laptop ?

Thank you for replies.

My honest suggestion will do more research for bitcoin mining.

Apart from this basically mining means solving mathematical problems which can be solved with two types of powers.

1) CPU power
2) GPU power

In cryptoworld there are many other algorithm are also available based on different types of mining.

So finally you can mine any of altcoin for which your computer supports but ROI matters while mining.

You cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin with any computer any more by itself. While you can mine with a computer, virtually all mining is done with specialised hardware called ASICs which are trillions of times more efficient than computers at mining. You can use your computer to control the miners though.

thanks for your reply!

what is smallest and cheapest miner device you advice to use for starters ?
If you're not looking to make a profit, but mine just for fun. You may want to start with a USB miner, like this one for example.
If you want to make a profit out of mining, you'll want some more serious equipment such as an S9. However you'll want to do some calculations  first(with this calculator) to see if you'll make any profit.
Good luck! Smiley

well, nice information.
thanks for sharing, will read about it.

No your laptop will broke if you use for mining, just telling why not are using the money to buy second hand hard miner.

Lol, Op can do mining in the laptop but only cloud mining. If he wish to start mining. He can buy ant miner in Ebay. He can buy it low price and he can get second hand one also there. However, mining is not a easy task and you electricity charge should be low for all time due to heavy electricity consumption.

can i start mining on my laptop ?

Thank you for replies.

Hey!
Your question was already answered multiple times so I won't repeat what have been said.

Something you might want to know though is that even "mining devices" aren't so profitable...
Problem will be about where you live and how you get your electricity. The mining device is just an initial cost, it's just an investment. But after that you also need to power it! And even if that can seem weird (cause elevtricity isn't your first source of expense normally) electricity is FUCKING EXPENSIVE when mining.
So if you're in a developped country and you have a  normal access to electricity... Don't bother. Mining won't be profitable.

Do not use the laptop for mining that will make you a bad hard drive, we suggest you buy a vga or ASIC miner, it is more advantageous :-)

You can start mining on your laptop but it will fry your laptop core. You can't afford to lose your laptop right? You should mine using a hardware mining rig like Bitmain Products ref= https://bitmain.com. But if you want big profit you will put a lot of investment in it. You should also take note how much is the electricity cost on your place. So you can calculate your earnings if you are earning moeny or losing money.

ASICs use a lot of power to get those big hashes. If you get anything like a S9 then expect to pay a lot in electrical.

You can mine with your laptop if you travel in time six years back (or more), so the difficulty could be low enough to allow mine the coins without spending too much on electricity.

But... laptops are not designed for heavy work, so it would have problems with heat.

Now, the difficulty is so high, so the fees will be bigger than the coins mined. Don't expect more than 0.000 000 10 BTC in a month with 24 hours work.

It will probably start mining monero as it is the best choice for laptop miners.
I know someone who mined monero for a few days...and made 0.11$ worth of monero.
Faucets would probably give you more for your time than mining.
You may make a decent amount if you write a mining virus, also known as a botnet miner, and infect computer networks to steal their computing power (please don't do this, hijacking CPU power for personal gain uses electricity and wears out chips, and it drives out honest miners by driving up the difficulty, I only mention this because hackers do this every time a CPU coin is released).

Mining with laptop will damage your laptop if you try to do GPU-mining or otherwise said Ethereum Mining and your laptop will overheat very soon.

However if you want to do mining and if you have a PC of the latest generation, let's say a core i7 6700k you can easily mine the monero coin through the Minergate software. I am pretty sure this will not damage your PC in anyway but the problem is this is not profitable. If you are using your PC daily for a few hours you can leave the minergate open in the background of your taskbar. Monero is a coin that can be mined through CPU.

I do this with my core i5 Pc and it hasn't done any harm so far so why it should do to a core i7.

And do you have profit with this mining?

Aren't the electricity costs very higher when you are mining Monero this way? If the electricity consume increases when doing this, the profitability will depend the country you are.

can i start mining on my laptop ?

Thank you for replies.

If you want to mine Bitcoin from your laptop, then you won't make any profit (unless your electricity is unlimited/paid for).
If you want to mine another cryptocurrency then you could look at StorJ or Burst which mine using you hard drive space (you may not break-even on these either).
There are some maining calculators that ou can use online that are mentioned above to see if you will profit from mining before you start. Though if doing it for a hobby, you could use something like the antminer R1.

IT is not a good idea it can burn your laptop fast even you are mining altcoin.. and i think bitcoin mining with computer is no longer available they are now using asics like antminer s9 if you really want to mine.. better to try to mine altcoin but the problem it can easily destroy your laptop just like my laptop its very hot if you just let your laptop run in 24 hours..

If that is new coin and there are only a few miners, I will try it for testing because the diff is so low
then you can mine it and get some earnings but when many professional mining machines runs you must stop it.
generally, the laptop is not worth mining coins.
