Loneliness can make an individual cultivate and sustain habits they ordinarily wouldn’t have done if they had someone else with them. Gambling is just one out of several habits anyone can develop serious interest in due to loneliness. This happens I think, mostly with married couples who’ve lived and done most things together.
I don’t think anyone who gambles not for fun could be said to be an addict or a sign of drawing addiction. People gamble for different purposes and it’s up to them to do what suits them best. This is actually the type of person I am before I got married, and luckily, I got married to a woman who happens to be my direct opposite, she's so lively, talks to almost everyone that sometimes, I personally feel that she talks way too much, but then, I am still happy for with her help, I now engage in some other activities outside inside of just lock my self inside all day gambling.
Lucky for me is the fact that I wasn't a gambler before I meet her, if not, I probably would have wasted a lot of money on gambling that I probably would not have achieved the things I own today.

Good that you gambler, but when you lonely you can do other activities that don't involve lot of money that could be lost, it very rare for gambler to be able to do this.
From my personal experience of seeing many gamblers they always choose to enter gambling sites and play some casino games to entertain themselves and when they get a multiplier they scream with joy feeling like they are really getting extraordinary pleasure.

I agree with you that greed is the primary motivation and that loneliness is a trigger. But this does not include everyone. Any person without skills, or let us say that his only skill is that he can live alone, and has greedy desires, and does not want to put in a lot of effort, then gambling will certainly be on his list of favorite hobbies.The two things may not have a direct relationship that can have a basis. This should be greediness or lack of control of money made. I don’t know really but if you make so much in a month, gambling should be an option for you to go into. If this money you earn in a month can satisfy all of your needs, you need to just stay contended with what you have.
