I personally feel that when we are in a business competition, it would be better to emphasize the characteristics and services because in the end this can also be an important factor because in the end consumer comfort sometimes provides a separate market for a business.

I still do that because for now I am still doing business in fast food even though it is only a small scale but in the end there is still a lot of competition, especially since I live in a fairly remote area so there must be people who copy the food or what I sell as a form of competition. But in the end when we have applied our own characteristics in the business that we do and do small things such as prioritizing service, cleanliness of the place and comfort in the end I can still survive and compete with other business people because in the end to become a competitor we have to pay attention to several things not only about quality but also quantity so that our consumers are safe and comfortable when they are in the place or buy the products we sell.

I just checked your account and I wanted to ask you but then I realized you haven't be long here but I'm going to explain something within this forum which is the Casino business in this forum. There are many casino platform that has been on this forum since it's early days but despite that, other casinos came and they were able to dominate the forum and capture every space of signature in the Forum and they are still functioning to date even when others has stopped, they never stop.

If you want to win in business and you are new, you have to do something other existing business are not doing. Some casinos here are doing art contest and even raffle just to spice up participants to keep their casino in their mind and there by making people use their casino. You can do similar thing to entise your customers so that even though they see similar thing they need on another place, they will first considered you unless you don't have it.

There is a proverb in my place that says "two people planting rice in the same place with the same quality of rice, will be able to produce different results" from this we can conclude that even though there are people who have the same idea as you and do business in the same place or even next to your business, but if you are sure about what you are doing, then it will not be a problem. Because in business to determine whether someone is successful is not only the location or business idea, but also how the service is, business strategy, innovation, fortune, and many other factors. So don't be afraid if there is someone doing business in your place, just do what you can and keep looking for innovation to develop your business.

This is unavoidable, and it exist in reality, If you're business is doing great and some business minded people see that you are in monopoly of a business, they will challenge you and try to take a big share of the market.
You should welcome competition in your business this is so you can upgrade your business to better serve your existing customers.
A true businessman welcomes competition so they can become better in that business because if you have a monopoly of one industry or business, you tend to take your customers for granted and will not grow or expand your business.

As a businessman, you must know how to strategize in business because competition is something that cannot be avoided. The goal is for your business to be superior to competitors. When someone else sets up the same business in your area, it cannot be called envy because everyone has the right to choose their own path with the experience they have. You must be ready to face every challenge in order to survive the heat of competition, everyone has their own goals, as long as competitors do not attack you personally, it means you must be ready to compete healthily.


There is no better job than business whether it is small or big business. I think you work with hard work and interest, and one day you will excel if you do anything else, then with this money, you can only support yourself and not fulfill your desires if it will block its way.  So it will be called envy, because if it was working and another spoiled its work, then its envy was helping it. But you cannot act unless you have humanity.  For example, no work does not bring profit or any other problem, for all these we must be prepared and take time patiently but If you work hard and use your brain, you can achieve success Otherwise you will earn only for food and not for fulfillment of desires.

You know it would be tough to compete with a similar business, especially if it is within the same vicinity and caters to the same people. They would most likely overlap each other and fight for the same people over and over again.

To overcome this, you need to be more innovative in your approach and keep the customer base happy so that they will come back to you and not go to the competitor. Taking care of your customers would be the best approach because it will go a long way toward letting people know they are in good hands if they go to your business.

This is probably a hard thing to do because you can’t please anyone, but it starts there, and that’s all you can do. Good luck, OP.

You just need to be creative, make something unique and if they copy your idea it just means that your idea is great.
Customer would comeback to you if you have clean business place, care for your customer, good product and of course the price.
I think being copied is normal for most business nowadays, if you want to survive you need to have a way to make sure that the customers would surely comes back to you.

Most businesses are very common and you might find yourself in a whole lot of competition with other people, but don't get frustrated about this because it's completely normal. The only thing that can make you stand out is being unique and exceptional. A friend of mine once told me that she wants to start a pos business but she gets discouraged sometimes and her reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that it's a business that so many people are into and she doubts if she would make any progress with it, then I gave her an idea, I said instead of waiting for customers to walk down to your shop why not make your pos mobile, I told her she can tell her customers to call her at any time to bring cash to wherever they are as long as it's within the city, people can sit in the comfort of their home without going out to withdraw, this something that would ease their stress. The way to succeed is simply to do something different.

I deal on frozen food like chicken, fish, Turkey and others seafood. Then I also sale food stuffs items and provisions.

I do not know much about this market but I can share some tips from my B school study and real world experience in running a different business.

1. Loyalty: in any business loyalty is a very important aspect. Try to find ways to increase customer loyalty. You can provide trial food items as a gift to your customer with every purchase. You can probably keep a payment threshold to make a customer eligible for free gift.

2. Home delivery: I am thinking from the context of my country. Home delivery used to be a big thing here. However some companies understood that and started offering free home delivery on every order. I am not sure if it works in your country.

3. Quality and hygiene:  in your business, quality and hygiene holds a huge importance. Never appear without mask headgear and gloves in front of your customers.

4. Create a community: ask your customers if they are willing to join in a WhatsApp group where you will keep on posting offers on a regular basis. You will also need to use that group for product updates. Building a community takes time but worth every effort.

5. Pleasing behaviour: Be a customer pleaser. You know for a fact that your consumers are the king. Your behaviour makes a lot of difference.

6. Build wholesale network: do not only rely on retail consumers. Start visiting your local restaurants and offer then some trial item to prove your great quality and hygiene. Take small orders and deliver on it. I am sure restaurants you will open up for bigger order if you maintain your consistency.

Your and goal should be increasing the customer base. Take every complaint seriously and revert on it. Never allow a single question to go unanswered.

For one thing, it helps not to open shop right next to your competitor. If you want to get customers, you want to open one that is far enough from your competitor that  people will prefer to go to yours rather than further away.

I don't really think opening a shop close to a competitor is a problem because i have seen someone moved his business out of the original location he used to stay and went to another location just because of a competitor that does same business as he do but just within some months later, his competitor also relocated to that same area so in such a situation will you also advise him to move out to another location? Some people are naturally troublesome in life so the most important thing in a business is not about doing same business with others within a particular location but the quality of your service to customers, your approach and your cordial interactions and understanding with customers is what really matters because those are the things that will make people to consider patronizing you more in an area where you have a lot of competitors.

For one thing, it helps not to open shop right next to your competitor. If you want to get customers, you want to open one that is far enough from your competitor that  people will prefer to go to yours rather than further away.

Of course, this does not apply to online businesses, but then again, with those, you can advertise to a particular subset of a demographic that your competitor is trying to attract.

This is something that has really been a burden to me and I need ideas on how to come out of it.
A lot of people out there are also facing same challenges.
You can imagine successful setting up a business in a well suitable location and then just when you think things are getting better and enjoying your peace of mind. You find out that another person gets to set up the same business as yours very much close to you.
If this isn’t envy what else should it be call?
As far as I know there is no law that preven 2 or more  people to sell same thing in thesame location. Business is all about good skill, self discipline and composure, good manners, transparency, respect and have a good customer relationship.  When you know what you are doing, you don need to be afraid of how many people that compete with you. There are situations where there are many shop conjoined in an area yet people patronize a particular person  simply because of the attitude of being customer friendly, and being respectful to each customer both old and young.  your character attract customer not the amount of goods you have in the shop. Because surely most people have alot of goods but no much people to patronize them.

I don't know why you keep on emphasizing much on this, I am beginning to think that you have a problem with that. All what I can tell you is to desist from that attitude because it won't help you. I can sence anger and hatred in you from my end. If you don't kill that thought you have in you and mind your business, it will Leed you to a serious problem of either losing your customers to your opponent because you will be more aggressive than being friendly. And Morover an aggressive business is not a good business strategy.

My advice to you is to mind your business and work more on your relationship with your customers. Because your location is not the only location people are selling thesame thing. When you go to computer market you find many people selling computer everywhere and each person makes money without problem. so yours is not exception neither.

This comes back to the mentality of business competition, because whatever type of business you run with a creative idea, it will not be the same as other business people. So when you are ready to set up a business to increase profits, then show what makes your product different from other people's products. As long as you have something to highlight, consumers will have their own assessment of the products offered. Everything that is competitive in the business field, the basic point is quality. No matter the price is a little expensive as long as it has high quality, people will know where to shop.

First things first, either don't start a business or start a company that you know no one else would be able to do better than you if you are afraid of competition because there is basically competition in every field these days. You can't expect to start a business and have no competition at all, so I agree with those who are saying that you should improve your business so that you can stay afloat among the competitors and not fall behind.

The very first rule of starting a business is to know what you are getting into. You should be a master of what you are getting your hands into which is the only way for you to never let your competitors beat you in what you are doing. You need to make sure that you are providing the best quality in the business that you are running so that your customers become recurring customers instead of thinking of trying a different brand next time.

Running a business is not easy, and you will face hundreds of such challenges in the future as well, but you will have to deal with them with grace. I would never recommend doing negative advertising for your competitors because I find that unethical and that will eventually have consequences on your own business. Beat them with your work and not by doing unethical things.

This is very common and to understand.
We all want to make money and it is either we make this money out of creativities or we emulates from others.

When you sights a lucrative vision in a specific area and has successfully set up a business house there and while you are being making progress there, you should be expecting oppositions within where others would come and set up same businesses as you to also be successful.

Then it becomes a competition and the people around you would even need more competitions within the area so that you as a monopoly will not put them on "no choice" condition just because you are the only trader/dealer in their respective area.

Don't feel being jealous about it rather think of offering unique services such as trying to understand your customers as a public servant such as thriving on marketing strategies and you will still keep being successful. That is all.

Competition is normal in the business so expect that there's competitor will come to challenge your business. You need to prepare on that situation since somehow you are the old one running. For sure you have the advantage on the game since people already know you.

What's best you can do is to do price war. try to scout the cost of their products then try to lower down yours. This suggestion made by some people in this thread is good already since for sure your competitor cannot sustain their business with that aspect especially if they are renting their spaces.

Also add some delivery option to your costumer giving them convenience would provably make them a loyal costumer so extend your service for doing such thing and for sure you will get a good advantage against your competitors.

Competition exists not only in business but also in every corner of our lives, from family to society .  In addition , I think you must have heard the saying: " business is a battlefield ",  so if you don't have confidence in yourself then it's better to stay home instead of rushing into the battlefield to become someone else's prey.


To me, businesses that are afraid of competition are usually businesses that cannot provide good quality products and services , and such businesses should not exist because they will harm users .
