the same way they can steal money from your account. hacking the account is unlikely (in case of btc, hacking the blockchain, as of now impossible) but they can put a gun on your head and force you to hand out the pin. i think that also applies for private keys.

the difference is, with the private keys they can take all your funds (that are on this particular key) where with the debit card pin, there is a limit.

so to answer, yes. very easily.

best prevention is that noone knows whos are your addresses and how rich you are. Not looking like a target is the best you can do to never become one

If someone wants to steal what you have, I think they have many ways to use it. Scammers is everywhere and they are smart, what you do is to protect it and give it a double secured. Don't save it in a apps of your phone. It's better to write it in your paper and keep it. Simple but protected.
Well that's right, there's a lots of ways and I also thinks that it won't be this way. Cracking private keys will take a lots of time so even pro hackers will invest a lots of years or maybe it can be next to impossible to succeed if its easily done then for sure we already see it happen, but until now we are still safe with this old ways of securing our wallets using private keys, so ita still useful to secure our assets using private keys and enjoy our wallets.

Hi, have you ever thought this?

You know that, to import a wallet you need the private key or your seed. Taking as example the private key (the 52 letters key). It could exist the possibility someone create a software whose function was to try thousands of times to find the private key till it is be done. This would be like the process to find the new block in mining, anyway you can try the times you want in order to find it.

I think this could be a weakness, correct me if I am wrong. Smiley

Or comment if you have a kind of solution for this...

Regards!

Yes i can understand that you are talking about bruteforce attack of private keys but it will take thousands of years to crack it...Now comes the phising method ...if you enter your private key at any scam site then its gone and you will be robbed.

You mean if someone could brute force your private key?
I don't believe that that's even possible because the number of potential combinations is enormous and the time for PC to do those combinations would take forever.

You can even lose your wallet if you do not keep your P.K. So if you are careful about your downloads and the sites you are working on, then these are just reasons to lose your P.K. Prevention is better than Cure.

I do not think anyone can steal BTC from my wallet even with a great thief, unless my key wallet is stolen, it could have taken them btc in my wallet
I'm sure wallet security is very strong because every user is given a key for every wallet

Cryptocurrency is more secure investment in the world but fiat currency is centralised platform so peoples are still believe the fiat investment. In digital world everything is possible so you should hold for online wallet or some other hardware wallet. But you protect your private key then only it will safe in forever. Many peoples are thinking hackers are easily catch the account but that is false.

Hackers may find many ways to steal our coin, so it is our responsibility to protect private keys we have, though it so quite difficult to think how could be done but we take some precaution measure to avoid this incident.

I've learned security management in my college.
Did you know to break 10 characters password or privatekey, it needs 4 months.
And 12 characters, needs 2 centuries.
I can't imagine how long it takes to break 52 characters with numbers on it.
I think it's impossible to break with brute force method (trying every combination).

Maybe you should try to create that software, then you will realise how difficult a task you're up against.
When you've achieved that, then I will admit that there's a problem that requires solving.

can someone stealing anyone btc. but it all depends on our own. do not let us be careless in keeping all asset assets that we have. because they always target the assets of the weak bitcoiners with security .

The wallet developer had already tested that way and to make sure that no one can penetrate or find a hole on their system. You just wasting your time invest it into a productive way.

Meh, the possibility of someone cracking your private key with today's technology is infinitesimally small. It would take a vast amount of processing power and a years (or even centuries lol) just to crack one random private key. I might sound exaggerated but bitcoin is designed so that it wouldn't be easy to crack and would be hard for malicious hackers to steal. IMO, phishing sites would have a lot of success getting these sensitive information than a million, high-powered computers cracking a single private key.

Somebody has already did a website where he listed all the private keys but it will still take a lot of computing power to run through all the keys and search keys with some bitcoin in it. It is still impossible right now (with the current computing power) to do a brute force of all the keys.

It is always possible specially if you will not secure your private key. What I mean you try to open your wallet in other computer, then in other computer. It can be compromised if you continue to do that. There are hard virus that I think only the professional knows how that it works. By injecting in your storage it can ruin everything. After compromising then the stealer will steal your btc in your wallet. So make sure that you do the right things and you did not forget what the does and don't to make your wallet safe forever.

My suggestion is you have to log out some account or exchanger (most of us are in order to enter private key) it is very important ...
My suggestion that you can use is not to lend the device you use to save or use private key. There could be data theft
