Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
I would recommend that you bookmark the clearnet website - https://chipmixer.com/ and the official ANN thread. Whenever you want to use ChipMixer, access the site from your bookmarks. The link o_e_l_e_o shared above is the correct one for the only working version via the TOR browser.

Never do a Google search on the term "ChipMixer" because the results will lead you to fake versions of the site. Although I can see that results are a bit different from what they were a few days ago. Some of the phishing sites aren't at the top of the page anymore. One new addition (on the 2nd place in the results) is this one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/chipmixer-1003345. It shows the latest posts by the official ChipMixer forum account (Google being weird as usual).

Other search engines, like the often recommended DuckDuckGo are useless as well and will take you to fake sites just like Google.

I have been trying to understand the workings of Chip mixer.  I have seen a couple of videos, but there were some things that still
unclear. please provide some clarification, in LAYMAN terms please. I willing to make a donation.
There is nothing complicated with using chipmixer, but I would strongly suggest that you use it only with Tor browser and onion link.
Scammers created a lot of fake domains and phishing websites, so better use only official links found in forum and chipmixer signatures.

I don't know what is your native language, but there are several tutorials written by forum members, asche wrote one in 2020 for German speaking members1, and Pmalek translated it in Croatian section2.
Please note that some of the information and links posted below could be outdated!

PS
Watch out youtube tutorials featuring fake scam links!
(Maybe we should think about reporting this youtube videos, and making one that is legit).

Please remove the link to that scam site. It links several times to a .pro website, which will no doubt steal your money.

For the record: the real chipmixer websites can be found here:
Don't trust my quote on it, verify the source of the post. Download and install Tor browser, go to the .onion site (remember: chipmix or fly kuxu ..... id.onion), and bookmark it to prevent phising. Don't Google the website, it will give you phishing sites.

  • Use only this link: http://chipmixorflykuxu56uxy7gf5o6ggig7xru7dnihc4fm4cxqsc63e6id.onion
  • Click on "Start Mixing"
  • Complete the captcha
  • Save your session token (~32 alphanumeric characters)
  • Deposit some amount of bitcoin to the address displayed*
  • Once your deposit has confirmed, go to Step 2
  • Choose if you want to split any of your chips up in to smaller values or combine any chips in to larger values, and choose if you want to donate any chips to ChipMixer
  • Choose which (if any) chips you want to withdraw now, and which (if any) you want to leave on ChipMixer and receive a voucher for
  • For the chips you have withdrawn, either ask ChipMixer to sweep them all to your own address, or take the private keys they give you and import them in to your own wallet
  • For the chips you have left, save your voucher code for future use
  • Once you are sure you have withdrawn all chips and/or saved your voucher, then destroy the session

Vouchers can be redeemed at any time in the future by entering the voucher code in the box provided in Step 1 of a new session. Vouchers can be combined with other vouchers or with new deposits.

*The smallest denomination ChipMixer supports is 0.001 BTC. This is explained underneath where it shows you the deposit address in Step 1. Any amount of coin you deposit will be rounded down to the nearest 0.001 BTC, with the remainder treated as a donation. If you deposit less than 0.001 BTC, it will all be treated as a donation.

Please be more specific about what exactly you don't understand.
I think that there are enough tutorials and guides about Chipmixer around the internet and every person with above average IQ can understand how Chipmixer works.
Why would you even want to use a Bitcoin mixer/tumbler service? Are you trying to "cleanup" some "dirty" Bitcoins? Do you want to buy something on the darkweb?
Beware of the scam mixing services and misleading Chipmixer phishing links. I know that Chipmixer is one of the very few legit Bitcoin mixers, but I've heard some horror stories about people being scammed by them. I don't know if those stories were true and I don't know whether or not those people were scammed by a Chipmixer imposter or the actual Chipmixer website. Be careful.

In short, the money that you send to the mixer is sent to someone else's destination address, and an equal amount sent by someone else to the mixer is sent to your destination address. The result is that someone following the block chain to find out where your bitcoins went or where they came from gets the wrong answer.

warning:

For the videos you watched. Don't use the links given in the description box, you will get ripped off. Get the correct link here only https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-chipmixercom-bitcoin-mixer-bitcoin-tumbler-mixing-reinvented-1935098
Youtube is full of clones to scam people by pretending to be the real website

warning:

it's the type of blog that provides a phishing URL. The blog post you shared redirects to chipmixer.pro

So to @platinumsteel2016, avoid using the link as well. And generally speaking, all blogs

Block halving is coming.
I think you were confused about the chips why not play first with a small amount of around 0.002 and try to split them or one of the chips like 0.001 to donate it increases your anonymity.

Then hit withdraw you should see a private key and you need it to import it to Electrum wallet and send it anywhere you like.

If you can't still don't know how to or understand how it works I suggest you read this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/chipmixer-guide-5256899

What exactly do you want to know?

Most mixers take your funds, pool them with other funds and then give you the same amount from the pool - ultimately it allows you to blend the sources of your funds with others so you're harder to trace.

Most mixers ensure the inputs funds can't be related to output funds and chipmixer does this too by funding output funds you can withdraw before you've even made your deposit (from their reserves of chips).

The minimum amount you can send is 0m001 to receive a 0.001 chip, chips double in size so you'd get an output that corresponds to that (eg depositing 0.007btc would give you a 0.004btc, 0.002btc and 0.001btc chip you could withdraw). Anything not evenly divisible by 0.001btc will have its remainder considered a donation.
