I think it is really possible to get something out of free spins, or on OP’s term, you can still win. But, of course, anything free will have some catch like rules and regulations, or something that must be accomplished first before you can receive it. Sticking alone and entirely to free spins could be beneficial, depending on your luck, but this would not guarantee a constant or continuous flow of rewards unlike if you really gamble.
