They do not have whatsapp for that.

You can reach Canaan aftersales support at email [email protected]

I'm in USA trying to get warranty for almost a month. [email protected] confirmed 2 bad dashboards and referred me to:

Quote
you need to contact with domestic customer service team ,the hotline is 010- 69706624

Not able to call that number from USA, still waiting on alternative email, WhatsApp or something.

Trying facebook, twitter and instagram - thanks for the info. I will update if I get ahold of someone.

Hi Guys

I want to tell you about my experience with this matter recently and to hear your opinions about it

At the beginning of September, my father and I traveled from Guatemala to Arizona specifically to buy 4 Avalon 1246 of 85th from blockforge, at the time of the trip me and chase exchanged quite a lot of messages regarding the miners.

after we arrived at the company everything was great it looked like a legit company ( and it is !!)

So we decide to buy the miners as expected from the HK warehouse

- from the beginning chase always said "the miners are properly tested before shipping to make sure everything is fine " and we trust him

A couple of weeks later we received the miners in Guatemala and the first miner that gets plugged in and log into shows the exact error that you all are talking about.
-long story short 2 out of 4 miners had the same issue.

Naturally, I talk with Chase, he sends me the firmware update, and of course, the 2 miners still had the same issue.

I send them the logs and everything that they need and te told me "it is a warranty-covered issue we will talk with Canaan to resolve this "

Its been 3 weeks and they still saying "we haven't heard from Canaan sorry "

I believe that it's not fair nor ethical to hide under Canaan when they said they tested them and that they as blockforge will give you a warranty for them, but truth be told I am not seeing that warranty nor support
for the miners.

I needed to vent this since I don't know what to do, today I asked for a refund if not taking care of the issue for next week, and we should put some pressure over them because since as we all know
time its money and I don't want to use them with the bad hasboard since I don't want to risk the "it no longer covered by the warranty"

Have a great day you all and keep mining ( with an actual good miner )

Update ---- 18 oct 2021

They finally told me that the hash boards were approved to be replaced with new ones so let's dive into this process

Does someone have contact for Canaan technical support/repair? I have one under warranty that needs repair and I’ve been struggling to find a contact.

Thanks!

Evil beware: We have waffles!
Have you contacted the distributor or Canaan?
What is the line voltage feeding the miner? It must be between 208 -240VAC.
The Avalons are very easy to work on and odds are that if a replacement part is needed it will be sent for you to replace vs sending the miner in for warranty repair.

I was to the point of sending a hash board to blokforge, sent them all they wanted. right before they sent me approval, I had moved the machine and when I plugged it in, Bam! everything is fine! kinda crazy, makes me think firmware upgrade they offer may be in order. I'm not interested in doing that yet, don't wanna screw it up and have a dead unit. As far as disassembly, super easy. They sent my a Avalon video link. I had already removed hash unit previously to look for hardware issues. The unit was quite dusty in the short time used maybe 40 days or so. I removed and cleaned everything this eve. In the future I plan to just remove the fans and blow the dust out from the exhaust side. how often do farms clean their rigs? looks like it will be monthly for me. mfr didn't skimp on the grey thermo paste. its like working with antisieze, gets everywhere.
NOTICE: you do not have to remove but two screws and the connector to remove a board. the video is for complete breakdown of machine and they remove control board and everything. Careful removing fans on inlet side, the temp sensor is there and kinda fragile. also fans are best kept on fan plate, not necessary to remove each one. Top panel slides off.

luckily, I did not have to unplug bad HU or board to continue to mine. Seller let me know there is firmware to allow to mine on good boards. since I was able to get machine to mine, I would not commit to trying to update firmware. My version is below. I did out of frustration do a factory reset and that was a nightmare for me. I had a hard time getting my pool back into system but it ended up being a stupid mistake on my part. looking into the manual thats on mfr site, I can say, I would not want to update firmware, afraid to make a mistake and ruin machine. good luck! I have since given seller info and waiting for them to ship me a HU.

mfr said parts to seller next week. I love the miner, wish they sent spare parts with batch's. runs a sweet 56-66t on 2hu. normal mode.

Interesting. When one of my hashboards quit, the unit would do about the same ~50th/s but only for about 20 minutes before dying. Temperatures are misread, fans operate at incorrect speeds. Having 1 hashboard out essentially renders the whole unit unoperable.

Did you unplug the faulty hashboard?

Yeah I agree you on that one. If manufacturers ask as huge prices as they currently do, the gear better be bullet proof.

If the user is left with some probability risk of gear breaking,
then that down time risk should be seen in the initial price being lower than it now is.

Canaan reported in a press release that they have received a massive order "Canaan Announces Significant Customer Order of 11,760 Bitcoin Mining Machines" https://canaan.io/1081.html, so for their own sake they ought to have their chip sourcing strategized. Such large orders would naturally mean they should have the ability to provide replacement parts, as well. But I also wouldn't be surprised if their priorities shift from smaller/home mining operations to large scale miners. Still, they're going to need to be able to source replacement components for even bigger operations if this is the case.

Under the contract, Canaan will ship and install its A1246 ASIC AvalonMiners throughout 2021, adding a total of 1.05EH to Mawson’s global mining operations.

Considering that the 1246 has their proprietary onboard controller, and I'm guessing that a large mining operation is going to be using their own home-cooked controllers and software, this order is probably for a stripped down version?

Regardless, hopefully these components will be available quickly, as they've most likely ramped up production.

That's weird, I would've thought they at least reply you,
since they have made co-operation with you long time (eg. burn-in testing Avalons in Kanopool, they use cgminer, etc.).

Not sure how much Nasdaq listing has changed things.
One thing I have noticed to change, is that I can't seem to buy a 1246 from them, for a review.
The last reply I got from them is from February, even though I have spammed them with emails also after that.

When Steven was in the house, he gave me a miner for review.
...
All the original devs I knew left.
I was in regular contact with a few of them and the last contact with one of them I was told they'd all left.

Steven appears to be no longer be there now either.
I tried to contact him recently about something we had discussed a year ago, but his email says it no longer exists.
I instead contacted sales directly, and they never bothered to reply (that was 1.5 months ago)

Xiangfu is no longer CEO - though I didn't ask him that directly, but it would appear Ng has replaced him.

i cannot say it was anyones fault that the chip shortage or issue, my March batch came out 85th instead of 90, and the deal was accept or cancel. that was brutal ontop of premium cost.

HagssFin,
I greatly appreciated your help. I was educated by you on the log and had the forethought or afterthought to send it as a reply to my initial email. I wont throw names around as I am at their mercy, lol. The fella at Avalon replied and agreed that I need a hash board. And to work with blokforge supplier to fullfill this need. so I am happy to report that they are supporting the customer. I would think that if the market wasn't as strong at the time that you would have gotten one to review? maybe not as they have Voskcon review video already on their page, next to the manual in support page. I like blokforge but was a bit dissapointed that during my chat to resolve issue I wasnt assured that it will be taken care of. To him it was standard reply, but to me the machine I spent a handfull of bitcoin on was huge to me.  When it broke my lil world fell apart, kinda.

The turnaround time could be minimized if Canaan agrees to send a new hash board in advance, and the user or the user's electrician replaces the old hashboard with the new one.

This was the idea that they had, at least in 10 series time, I think.

Now I can't even buy one for review.

I guess they don't care about reviews anymore...

Truth to be told, I'm losing my interest in ASIC mining, because it looks like its becoming impossible for a small guy like me to do.

Thus, few more miner generations, and I will know nothing useful to help other people here at the forum.

HagssFin,
I've referred to table 4 and I would assume from your reply I am at the mercy of Canaan. when I opened unit, I noticed the center board did not have red light on, so I assumed it was board #2. The temp that showed zero celcius is labeled H2. Of H0/H1/H2. Your review mentioned 3rd board? so I am assuming board with light out in the middle is bad. The temps # labels have me confused as to physically which one is bad? should I go by the light out or persue understanding the configuration of HU labels? in another post a fella mentioned Canaan would send blokforge (US seller) the replacement for him to install.
Thank you! your guides are most impressive. I have alot to learn. I thought it would be easy.
Seems there are a lot of problems with the Avalon 1246, and people are waiting on replacement hashboards. One of the hashboards on mine isn't working either, and sending the logs to Canaan they verified that it's indeed faulty. The board failed after about 8 weeks.

Canaan said they have multiple sources for their ASICs, so hopefully the turnaround time won't be too long, but who knows.
