Yes, I have seen few coins claiming to have vaguely environmental credentials, without actually doing anything.   Whereas Carboncoin is already well on its way to being carbon positive and as it moves forward will be an example of how crypto-currencies can have a real world value, both from a monetary and environmental perspective.   In other words, it will have a real purpose.

I like pecan pie.

Those pecans come from trees!

I'm with DemetriusAstroBlack... Green bushy oxygen giving bastards. Come over 'ere, stealing our carbon dioxide, touching our soil inappropriately, hangings too good for em i say... don't like the way they shake their leaves at me.

LOL Smiley

I like trees.

DemetriusAstroBlack, Happy to hear that!

I understand your suspicion and you are right to doubt first and believe later, there are too many scam coins out there that are a detriment to our crypto community.  I feel very differently about Carboncoin because...

I've had numerous conversations with Axismundi and in my opinion he is someone who really "gets it" understands what is necessary do develop the project and most importantly, has the skills to make this coin a success.

Carboncoin is something that started small and has the potential to grow big with a good community and clear concept. I don't expect it to be the next get rich quick coin but its something I can really stand behind as a sustainable forestry "Don" in the Amazon.

I hope that everyone can donate a bit back to the fund ( I do) and help spread the word so that the carboncoin community can grow.
Here is the donation address to make it easier Smiley

Dev,

Have you contacted the Devs from Cleanwatercoin?

You can set up some things where you could work together. Establish a relationship with them and marucoin as well, as you all have something in common.

Hi Chris

Development is making steady progress. Next stop bringing Carboncoin up to speed with penultimate release of BTC and implementing some extra custom defence mechanisms, with the release of the new logo.

I will look those Devs up when I get a minute, definitely would be nice to get some help on the retail/payment side of things.

I updated the front page earlier today, constructive feedback appreciated.

I looked into cleanwater coin a while back and they were having lots of issues with their scrypt. Hopefully they got it cleaned up.

For all those looking for an exchange to buy/sell on, yes you could wait for cryptorush to get back up (expected within the week) or you could head over to AGX.io. We have recently been added to the Austin Global Exchange as of last Friday. We will update the post soon.

You can change a crap coin over and over again and it's still crap. Relaunching is a waste of time and so is changing to POS.  I wonder if its the coin or the dev?

I don't think re-launching a coin that was badly managed with a competent model is a bad idea at all. Carbon coin has allot of room to grow as it actually does something unlike the majority of P&D coins created to date.
Offsetting carbon is a necessity, sorry if you don't think the same way but public opinion would disagree with that position.

Unless you live in a green energy zone look at the tons of CO2 you are producing with your Scrypt mining (darkcoin in your case).

Its not a pretty picture so my hat off to those who try to address this issue and take steps to mitigate the effects of mining. Seems like a good start to me....

Or you can crush dirty black crap with immense pressure and heat and turn it into a diamond.

Yeah, I don't see how taking the initiative and achieving Carbon Neutrality could be perceived as being "crap".

Wow

To me this coin stands for something.

It may not be creating a new internet, or coming up with a mesh network, and have all these bells and whistles. This coin has a purpose, and a damn good one if you ask me.

How many opportunities do you have to actually buy a premine percentage-sized amount of coin off an exchange for less than 1 satoshi? Your market cap calc should tell you a small investment carries a lot of weight here.

Buy some, donate half to the donations wallet and then hold the rest. Due to be pushing out an updated wallet and client to pools/exchanges within the next 2 weeks or so, and then a version with new branding after that. One or two excellent designs starting to appear.

We will then be releasing our proposed timeline for the fork to a zero-PoW model and how this will be managed.
