Nicely done.

I just put my singles in capsules as well.  I know they don't need it but I'm a dork like that.

The Casascius 1oz 10BTC Silver Round (w/ Gold B)
Mike, on casascius.com under "Other ways to get Casascius Coins (payment methods vary)" you have link to eBay search.

Why not link a BitMit search as well? (for example: https://www.bitmit.net/en/q/?q=casascius)

Good idea.  I mainly thought of adding links so people could buy with fiat, but people buying with BTC from a local seller and saving on shipping is something I'll promote as well.

Hi Cas

Have you many of the BTC10 rounds left that have the gold "B"? I see you are running low on the normal version of the coin and I don't want to miss out on the gold plated version Smiley

Thanks

Got my stash of physical coins... they're really cool. The 10BTC is just gorgeous, and the 25BTC and the gold bricks are sweet too. I also got a bunch of empty coins to use in the future, they are as good as advertised! Love them all, perfect condition, super fast service/shipping. Bricks and small coins are perfect for gifts. Bigger coins are mine, all mine. bwahahahahaha

Thanks casascius! You're providing an invaluable service to the community.

are there ANY type 1 bitcoins left?
seriously interested in ~20 of them.

they are rare already. I sold one for BTC 2 recently and another one on bitmit is at BTC 1.95. Only have 3 left, so I can't make you an offer ;(.

There should be something like 6000 out there.

There are 5,401 active 1 BTC v1 coins in circulation.  Grin

Actual lost shipments are exceedingly rare.

Lost shipments are rare enough that, percent to total, one is far better off just taking their chances than paying for insurance, especially on a small order.

I don't honor requests for "sorry they never arrived, please send my bitcoins elsewhere", except unless they've chosen Express shipping and I can determine the package never made it (which happened once - and then the original package surfaced 6 months later).

I am willing to bend (but not without a fee) on allowing the larger denominations in the wild unfunded as a last resort, because people are less likely to pass them off fraudulently as payment to someone else who wouldn't check the balance or maintain recourse.  On the 1 and 5 BTC coins, not so much.

allright, understood.

I think it would set a bad precedent if coins (with official holograms) were originally funded by anyone other than yourself.

Casascius coins rely on trust - trust in you - and any unfunded coins making their way into the wild could harm this.

Mike, is it possible to buy a batch of coins, then resell them and have them funded only after the customer receives them? This could be done in batches of course. Maybe weekly or in batches of 10 coins to reduce your workload.

This would simplify shipping and reduce risk.

This is undesirable, as then untampered but unfunded coins could be in circulation, making the whole coinage untrustable. This is a previously posited perfunctory purloining procedure.

This is already the case because for international orders, mike doesn't fund the coins until they arrive. One could just tell him the coins got lost and would have a batch of unfunded coins.

Insuring a tracked letter for up to €100 costs €1.50 from where I send. I offer this option for shipments cointaining 3 or more coins. This is roughly 30% of shipping cost for the orders I process of this kind.

Being able to send unfunded coins would reduce the shipping cost even further (no tracking necessary), for example for a batch of 3 to 5 coins from €5 to €1.50. This is substantial: it would reduce the per-coin cost for the customer by BTC 0.11 (3 coins), BTC 0.07 (5 coins).

I guess this depends on the cost on Mikes side to manage lost unfunded coins and his willingness to offer this. If it's too much hassle / risk of having unfunded coins in circulation I can understand and will just go with insured letters or carry the risk of loss myself and accept a higher price for the customer.

IMHO this is not a problem: before accepting a coin you can check if is funded easily

As for Mikes suggestion, I am reselling 1 BTC coins (series 2) on BitMit:

https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/11897-1-casascius-physical-bitcoin-series-2-1-btc-loaded-value

(if link doesn't work, just search for "casascius" or look in the Money/Bitcoin category, I will put up more).

I'm using combined auction / buy now mode. Buy now price is BTC 1.55, auction starts at BTC 1.25.

Shipping (via tracked letter) is €2.80 worldwide and €2.15 to germany. For crazy germans, I offer untracked letter for €1.20. Risk is on buyer, though.

I will probably put more with a lower buy-now price or shorter auction time.

The coins are even more beautiful than series 1 Wink

I hope it's ok to advertise this here?
