I hereby request:
hi-def photos of each side (reverse, obverse) of each of your products.
one picture of each your products in a "redeemed" state, so everyone can judge online if an item is "okay" or not.
All you need to do is look earlier in this thread, or go to the site link in the first post and click where it says "high definition photos here".

If the pictures aren't to your liking, it will only cost net .25 BTC to order one and attempt to re-sticker your spent coin and take your own satisfactory pictures.

I obviously need a new camera, but the difference should be apparent.

i think for a merchant (ie casascius) it should be imperative to provide detaild imagery of the product he sells while adhering to a certain consistency (size of the coin, lighting etc etc) doing so.

That said, it's probably easier to hack my sticker than it is to hack those algorithms, but still not trivial, especially for the average person.  Simply peeling carefully isn't going to cut it.
It seems like an easy hack would be to make a counterfeit sticker.

+ 1

Physical world sucks when it comes to detecting counterfeited items.

(...) so it's very difficult to put one back together intact.(...)

...but not impossible for a skilled person ?

A sufficiently skilled person could break SHA256 and ECDSA, so we similarly describe breaking these as "difficult", not "impossible", even though it's likely so difficult as to practically be impossible.  That said, it's probably easier to hack my sticker than it is to hack those algorithms, but still not trivial, especially for the average person.  Simply peeling carefully isn't going to cut it.

Because others have taken so many high quality images, I would recommend the following: Google "Casascius" and then click "Images" (along the edge of the screen).  This produces a rich selection of images throughout the internet that others have taken of my products.

The damage done to the hologram during peeling is so extensive that you should have no trouble determining which ones are peeled.  Peeling reveals a hexagon/honeycomb pattern in the material, and this pattern actually tears through the image layer, so it's very difficult to put one back together intact.

This is extremely important because of possible forgeries.

I think a youtube video explaining in detail how to determine if the hologram sticker was re-attached using glue or something would be useful.

any 2011 coins left, I lost mine when i moved
I'm still selling Ƀ1 original series in Europe, for Ƀ1.9 a piece.

I'm in the USA unfortunately... (assuming you mean shipping only to europe)
Well, shipping is paid for by the buyer, so I could ship to the USA, but it might get expensive. I've had a quick look, and it seems to be at least Ƀ3 for just the shipping, and probably more. If you're still interested I could check more closely. Send me a PM in that case and we can have a look.

I sent a 1 oz silver coin to canada from germany for under BTC 0.5. Just sent it as a letter.

Hey Mike, I'm curious how the Bitcoin Friday sale worked out for you! How many coins did you sell, and which ones?

It assumes the payment happens immediately as soon as the order is generated, but in my case, I was delayed 5 hours.

Also, another thought: I would love to get regular updates from you about the availability of coins like in the quoted text above. Do you have a Casascius-coins twitter feed, FB page, or email list I could join to get notified of deals, offers, limited availability, new stock, etc? You don't update the first page in this thread with up-to-date news, so I often have to look through pages to see if there have been any developments.

Cheers, and thanks again!

5 hours is never a problem.  I generally stop checking the address after several days.

I suppose the issue is I don't make a whole lot of announcements, but here's where I'd do it.

Just a quick rundown on what's left in stock for 2012, in case anyone wants to know how long they'll be around.

2012 5 BTC COIN: first series - I have only a few left of these.  Less than 100.  I now have a "Series 2 5BTC coin" with a silver label.

2012 10BTC silver coin: I'm down to about 70 of them without gold plating, and 100 of them with the gold plated B.  This is the first run of them.  When I run out, I won't be making any more (instead, I'll make a different coin for 2013).

2012 1BTC coin: I have about 2,000 of these left.  I produced 5,000 blanks, and have given a significant number of the blanks away in the form of "roll-your-owns" instead of actually making hologram coins with them.

Hey Mike! Just wanted to say hi and thank you for selling these coins! I just paid for my order, and I'm excited to see when they come.

One quick note-- In the order email I received, it asks me to go back to the site to "Confirm", but I have long-since closed the form. Is this okay, and if not, are there additional steps for me to take? If it is okay, you may want to reconsider the wording in your email. It assumes the payment happens immediately as soon as the order is generated, but in my case, I was delayed 5 hours.

howdy
Has anyone ever suggested adding RFID tags to contain the public key? Pop your phone over the thing to check the balance of the coin real quick? Or would it be too much trouble (the minikey is already pretty short)

I tried selling something similar but unfortunately NFC was not quite popular then as it is now. Now I use them to connect devices to Wifi, send Texts/Emails, etc.  Cool

Too much cost to be useful. No one would want to pay the price it would have to sell for to be worthwhile.

A barcode would accomplish much the same in terms of true abilities gained from having it there.

true, until nfc/rfid tags become dirt cheap, a qr-code or similar seems the only cost-effective way. Are you thinking about doing this?
