These coins to me aren't just a pure investment buy hoping they will increase in value purely.  These mark a start of an era, and yes I do think that they will increase not only in usd but in btc premium over the years.

Casascius coins, to me, are like a hedge on BTC.  If BTC skyrockets, the value of Casascius premium will not keep up. However, if BTC remains flat or goes down, the collectors value of the Casascius should still go up over time.

Let's just do some rough math.  If you paid 1.2 BTC for your Cas MS67 0.1 Silver in 2015 when BTC was at $500, you paid a total of $600 and it contained $50 worth of loaded BTC.  Today that piece is worth approximately 0.4 BTC (I sold two of these in the past 2 months at this price) which is a total of $3880, with a funded value of $970.

Cost basis: $600 ($50 funded + $550 premium).

Today's value: $3880 ($970 funded + $2910 premium).

So, even though your investment did not outpace BTC, it still appreciated 600% in two years. That's impressive, especially considering you're talking about a collectible item that will only become more rare and sought after as time goes on (regardless of what happens to BTC).

The same can be said about any transaction in which you previously had spent your BTC over having used FIAT.
Lazlo paid 10,000 Bitcoins for a Pizza but at the time that was the going rate. You can’t look back at it with regret. You never knew BTC was going to explode.
Look at this thread. There is some overlap and could be a little more informative.

The only regret I have about Casascius coins is not buying a truckload of them 6 years ago.   Cheesy

When Bitcoin goes more mainstream the hope was that these draw collectors who do not care about premiums and want these coins. Look at regular rare coins these days...some go for ridiculous amounts. Casascius coins are only 6 years old.

Hi Guys,

Do you regret buying Casascius back a few years ago? I bought my Cas MS67 0.1btc for 1.2 btc in 2015 when btc was about $500, but the premiums on these coins have squeezed a lot and rightfully so as many people can not afford the heafty price of BTC now a day, but if I held the 1.2 btc, it'd be worth much more than the 0.1 cas I have now.

What do you think will happen going forward? Do you think the Cas premiums will come back? If so, how?

And now with BTC at 10k, what do you think a coin like mine would even get? like 0.4 btc?
