for some reason I and others forget that these bastards stole 91btc from me alone...

They stole about that much from me too - I forgot about that! It was like a week after I started trusting them and began to not withdraw my funds every day!

Can I add Labcoin here? They were a Bitcoin mining company, established in 2013. Went AWOL after collecting some BTC7,000 from unsuspecting investors in BTCT.co and other crypto-exchange sites. I myself lost some BTC0.1 in this scam. There were talks here of initiating a lawsuit against them, but none of that ever materialized.

This is the list of scammers, not the list of casualty.  Angry

It's more like a mix.
But now that you mention it, shouldn't there be the casualties of each scam/incident?
I mean how much Bitcoins were lost in each case.
Yeah, they have that list on another thread.  Who cares about the distinction.  Many of those scams didn't start out to be scams - they just ended up that way because of mismanagement.  e.g. Gox.  Probably GAW.  If they started out as a pure scam - then they are not a 'company'.  Otherwise, they go on the list.  Do you see anyone else who belongs?

Losing businesses in a certian field, is nothing new... certainly not unique to Bitcoin.

You have several reasons why businesses fail :

1. Superior or better technologies in other businesses force them to close their doors
2. Poor management
3. Too much competition, no expansion or growth.
4. Financial problems
5. Change in laws or regulations in the coutry where they are situated
6. Forced to close due to criminal operations.
7. Death or divorce in the family, when it's a small family operated business.

Dig deeper into these companies you listed and see why they failed, not just that they failed. If you determine the reason, you might see that it's a normal thing.

In most countries, 6 out of 10 businesses fail within the first 5 years... and the companies you listed, is within a "startup" scene of a relatively NEW field. {Crypto currencies}

I remember using it last month for buying some digital goods and it worked okay though there was some problem with their btc cofnirmation showing up.
