6x 980ti is not very common
My experience with h81pro btc + 8GB + G1820 is running incredibly troublefree from the beginning. I couldn't be happier. Both lubuntu(usb stick) and windows 7(sata SSD) runs perfectly without any issue. Even installing Win with all gpus allready plugged and using wifi usb dongle all the time.
The biggest difference from Your build is 980+3x970+960+750ti and all running from the same psu(LEPA G1600).
I have never plugged the molex connectors to the motherboard. It is meant to power the old(shitty) unpowered pcie risers.
I have forgot the exact bios settings, I think I set the pcie to gen1 instead of gen2 or 3 and switched off the integrated cpu graphics for sure.
We might have a different bios version on the mobo or it might be just 980ti using more resources.
On my other desktop motherboard(much more expensive one) I got many problems allready with 3 or 4 gpu's. I had to plug one by one and sometimes it didn't work until I changed the pcie riser... Very strange behavior.
Good luck
BTW I prefer Win7 x64 by far for mining.
yup - agreed ...
i have a few of these motherboards in action now - and they are superb ... i have another 36 of them ready to be rolled out for the new farm im building in the new premises ... im forced to move from this current office in two months which is making my life hell at the moment - so they can demolish it and build residential units ... apart from that - in 2weeks i need to personally move into a new home as well ...
with the 750ti oc lpo cards - there does not seem to be any issue whatsoever ... with the 980ti cards - i have this issue ...
ill work on the bios settings soon - and will compare them with the 750ticard machine ...
ill also take into account all the great advice you guys have supplied here - and see if any of it actually does the trick to get it running ...
as many of you are aware - i am very much against windows on any installation - let alone mining ... especially in a framing environment - even though i have seen windows farms before ( and ill bet they dont have one licensed windows os either ) ... but for this one machine - i will test it ... ill be buying another kingston v300 120gb ssd to install windows on there ...
i have two versions of windows ( yes - licensed
- of course ) - windows 7 ultimate x64 - and windows 10 x64 ... when there is sufficient time - ill try both with all the latest drivers ...
i hope i can alleviate this with a linux / bios fix though - as i dont like wasting time on windows installs if i dont have to ...
lets see how this goes in a few hours ...
