Spending bitcoin to buy things is not bad, but I'm just imagining I had 10000 btc 13 years ago and I have been hodling it till this time🤔, that's a lot of money in today's bitcoin.  Many of us didn't see bitcoin coming this big, I just wish I can turn the hands of the clock. The dude who bought pizza with 10000 btc what would he be thinking about the amount of money he spent to get pizza 🤔?  This is a huge money that can shake a wallet, I'm imagining I have 10000 btc in my wallet.  It is so interesting pizza was bought for this amount years  ago.

The guy is just using his asset to buy what he need and although many think its a waste of opportunity but if we see how his needs has been fulfilled at that time we can say its still worth it. Its just this scenario create a history and many think that if lazlo hold it he earn a lot of money from it today.

This historic event remind us that unexpected thing can happened so if they have patience and trust on something that can create change they can get rewarded.

In all seriousness, I don't see the lesson in this situation, sure a guy bought a pizza with bitcoins, I mean what's the lesson? It's not like he knows what's going to happen to the price of bitcoin, Laszlo is more accomplished because he did the test run of using bitcoin as a means to pay for goods. This is more like hindsight thing to be honest.
AFAIK he don't mind about that and he proud what he did before because if he's not did that, Bitcoin price might not be so high as we currently see it on any exchange.
That's not true, that might be a contributing factor but I don't think that this event is the sole reason why the price of bitcoin is rising.

There's person who live in Romania, he bought 10,000 pizzas for a Bitcoin. That's a really good remarkable history to celebrate the Bitcoin pizza day.

Among these enthusiasts, Daniel Nita from Romania made history in cryptocurrency. On Twitter, Daniel Nita proudly announced that he purchased 10,000 pizzas for just 1 BTC using Binance Pay.

That is a very big regret to Mr Laszlo Hanyecz, by remembering the past mistake that created world financial history of his Lost of funds, that is reason why in any business you're doing, try make a research about the business and the potential of the business you're doing, which is Bitcoin is a digital assets that has already created for future financial services, that keeps adding value's from time to time. In other words, Laszlo Hanyecz sold out the current price of Bitcoin and he was happy enjoying pizza.
Nowhere he felt bad on spending such a big number of bitcoin in exchange for pizza. It is to be noted, if this transaction haven't happened surely bitcoin might've never been this high in value. Maybe he could've turned billionaire, through the loss of one thing we'll get another. This is kind of rule, so its a day in which Laszlo Hanyecz has to be remembered. On account of the particular day we were able to see good number of people distributing pizzas.

Laszlo Hanyecz never compared bitcoin to the value of USD. He saw bitcoin as bitcoin. Nothing else. Does he regret his decision? No. Then why should we do that? He had a vision, and he made that choice on his own in order to make that vision come true. And if we really want to compare, then why not compare the price of bitcoin in 2010? Why do we always compare it with today's price? Based on the situation and time, I think 10,000 BTC was worth it. It was the early days of Bitcoin, and very few people knew about it back then. And this was the first bitcoin transaction made in exchange for a physical object.

It was the start of a great era, and we are living in it today. So forget about it and enjoy.

Happy BTCitcoin-pizza day (even though a little late).
Strangely, this year I didn't see much new articles about it nor any mentions outside the very core-Bitcoiner-news.
We probably have to wait until the next massive bull market for mainstream media to pick up on any of this Bitcoin lore. Let's see, my guess is May 22nd, 2024 could already be different.

He doesn't regret his decision. At the time of the transaction, the value of Bitcoin was relatively low, and the concept of Bitcoin as a store of value or investment was not as widely recognized as it is today.
Hanyecz's purchase was primarily an experiment to showcase the utility of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. He wanted to demonstrate that Bitcoin could be used for real-world transactions. In that sense, his action played a significant role in highlighting the potential of cryptocurrencies beyond speculative investments.
While the value of those 10,000 bitcoins has since increased significantly, Hanyecz has maintained a positive attitude about the transaction. He has expressed that he doesn't dwell on what could have been, and he sees the pizza purchase as a crucial part of Bitcoin's history.

It's worth noting that Hanyecz's pizza transaction helped create a milestone in the development and adoption of cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin Pizza Day serves as a reminder of the progress made within the cryptocurrency space and the evolving perception of Bitcoin as a valuable asset.

Laszlo Hanyecz might get another bitcoin later apart from the ones he sold, but my question is if Papa John also sold the coin for a pizza amount or made a profit out of it. The two of them today will look back and they will be the ones to determine if the decision then was good or not. But to call a spade the owner of the bitcoin can't hold the coin this far to this date.

Op you were too hurry to create the bitcoin pizza celebration thread if not the date you created the thread has not reached the pizza day. You created the thread on
May 21, 2023, 09:43:12 PM original time the thread was created
Last edit: May 21, 2023, 10:07:28 PM  edited time the thread was created. And being today which is the 22nd of May, 2123 is the original Bitcoin Pizza Day. Therefore, you over rush the thread.
I think its probably because of his timezone and that of the forum time, I have a reason to believe his is from Bangladesh and the time their is actually five to six hours ahead of the time here so he might have posted it at the actually date of the celebration which is the 22 of may. But notwithstanding, its all part of the celebration and that first transaction that Laszlo did with bitcoin actually marked and pave the way for many more transaction with bitcoin till date and its has certainly been a milestone since that first recorded purchase @13 years and counting .

Happy bitcoin pizza day to everyone but I guess its already past now Grin

Today is the 13th Bitcoin Pizza Day. Laszlo Hanyecz bought two pizzas for 10,000 bitcoins on May 22, 2010. He was the first to use Bitcoin commercially. The history he made, hundreds of years will pass but no one can make history like him.
Today I will celebrate Pizza Day by buying a pizza.
Happy Pizza Day everyone
I don't like reading the story because I always consider today's worth of Bitcoin comparing it with the worth of the pizza. It may seem to be a waste but this act is symbolic. He paved the way for Bitcoin to achieve its goal as a currency. From many interviews conducted Laszlo Hanyecz has always reiterated that he didn't regret his actions. He paid a huge sacrifice for the community and just like you can't discuss Bitcoin without mentioning Satoshi, Hal Finney, etc the name Laszlo Hanyecz will always be remembered for this uncommon act. I will definitely celebrate today with a pizza and somebody must know about Bitcoin today through me. Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day to this great community.

Comparing the price paid over two mere pizza's on that specific date will just make you anxious because you will start some computation in your head and then there are lot's of what ifs that will start surrounding your head. There's no need to keep on thinking about what happened before and let's just focus on what is ahead of us because that is more important. As you said, the man Lazlo Hanyecz paid a price so that it will be more known in the world and just what he envisioned and the creator of course, it did really happen after 13 years.

Now, it's our time to support and continue what they have started by disseminating the knowledge that has been passed to us and of course by holding cryptocurrencies as much as possible.

That is, according to the current market price, Laszlo Hanyecz bought only 2 pizzas for 267017400$.
I wonder what's the prize of same pizza at the time now from the same vendor?
I don't hope to see much difference except for the effect if inflation to have coursed a slight rise in prize but still, the prize isn't something that would be worth a discussion.
Though, it tells how one commodity have got less value compare to the other and should be placed ahead of the other. The investment mindset wasn't applied here.

Looking into it for real, this guy made a sweet deal at the time and it went into hatory as the first ever recorded bitcoin transaction between parties.
I got to watch a twitter interview by Laszlo only yesterday and he didn't seem to have any much regrets about it.

I guess I'm late on the thread but I still want to wish everyone a happy bitcoin  pizza day and I also ate some pizza in commensuration with the day.
But no one should every think the buyer did something wrong because from my perspective,  I think his decision  is one of the reasons we're are enjoying  the rewards of bitcoin  because he was the one who initiated a transaction using Bitcoin.
And beside no one ever imagined bitcoin  would rise to this amount and you can imagine finally having use a payment method that almost seemed useless in getting something  value like food🤔?
I guess it was the excitement  and I'm sure that the buyer is still very rich in bitcoin  to have give out such amount of bitcoin for pizza.

To be honest at the time he probably felt like a genius. He backed away from an investment he thought was failing and he traded it for something of high value pleasure in the form of pizza. At that time, it was worth it regardless now. I think the two guys won the deal, just to different degrees, obviously. On Pizza Day, we have a lot to learn about investing in bitcoin, don't be afraid that we will buy as much bitcoin as possible because bitcoin will be very valuable in the future.

Apart from that Laszlo Hanyecz is an absolute legend. Laszlo Hanyecz This is the first time Bitcoin is exchanged for a product (Pizza). The single value set for bitcoins. Extraordinary.

Poor Laszlo. I feel sorry for him. It's cool to realize that our forum has long been a world legendary place with which such stories are connected. I found laszlo's account, and his activity is 199. Apparently, the forum was only a temporary place for him to pass through. Nevertheless, many people throw Merit to him, as if an offering to a monument.

Quote

23 January 2023, 22:52:42: 50 from EFS for Re: Pizza for bitcoins?

Nevertheless, it was such people who created the price of bitcoin by such actions. And this is very important.
He was not unfortunate he thought that bitcoin would not explode after more than a decade but with that incident it became history in this forum that remembers him every year.

I can't imagine that he is active again in this forum by telling his story again, of course he will be made happy because his history will always be remembered.

But many people are happy with this celebration? Of course we also know that Pizza is a delicious food and it will remain in history forever.

It was very impressive what happened on May 22, 2010. This is a very special moment, this is the great journey of Bitcoin. Yes. like @Patrol69 said if we review and compare the value, currently the market value of Bitcoin is so large and capable of reaching unexpected levels. Let's join in the celebration of Bitcoin Pizza Day and enjoy a delicious meal while appreciating the progress that has taken place. Cheers!

Happy (late) Pizza Day for everyone...

I'm just sorry that this major event didn't made him to stick to the community for the coming years since then. Or if he's involved, no one knows about it. At least I don't know anything else about this person!
I just hope he didn't kill himself after the first major ATH after he spent that amount of Bitcoins!
He created a twitter account I think in 2018 or something like that.
