Ok, this will apparently require a full explorer resynch as it also changed addresses from ancient blocks.

Updated address page is now being rolled out, it improves load times for addresses with large amount of transactions (mining pools, heavy stakers, etc.) and adds some filtering options.

API has also been extended with a new addresses API.

API Keys can now be requested (for free), and when used, they will lift some restriction and enable some APIs.

They are intended only to protect more server-intensive queries from abuse (or more precisely, provide a more targeted way to ban abusers). There is plenty of server capacity to handle normal usage, just do not pound the server with a tight loop ;-)

Currently, with an API Key:

getbalance returns a live value, and no longer a cached value
mutiaddr API becomes active (same syntax as blockchain.info)

multiaddr is intended for online/light wallets or monitoring, it returns the balance and last transactions of multiple addresses in one call.

Some other experimental APIs intended for researchers will also probably required an API Key in the future (and then be documented for the general public).
