As long as they caught the culprit thats what matters the most. I think he should be tried as an adult. If you are horny go find a prostitute rather than rape someone what's wrong with some people at all.

Is there anyway that the ones who watched but didn't report be identified, They should be all arrested and charge for being accessory to rape.
I'm not sure about how police really get info through Facebook but they probably contact them, FB is not able to know who's watching live videos but who knows, they might keep the data for themselves. If that's the case, It could be possible to retrieve those data but I doubt they will provide them to the police as this will only prove that they are collecting info about users behind their backs.

I am not sure about this, but can a 14-year old be arrested and detained by the cops in the United States? I believe that he is in a juvenile detention facility right now, and may be let off after a "severe" warning.

They really need to change that. Some crimes (rape and murder for example) must be punished regardless of the perpetrator's age. Detain them in a facility for minors till they reach legal age and then move them to a regular prison after that.

A lot of the kids these days have been exposed to the society where it's okay to have that nudity just being exposed to the internet, and it's so easy to access pornographic content, and if they are curious about the things, they can quickly search it. That could cause the kids to have a mental connection on how that works and maybe wants to take it to the extreme. I just hope that the generation could get better and a lot of kids that have compassion for the world we live in appears.

I just couldn't find the words to describe how I feel after reading this article honestly, what a world we live in really. What shocked me the most is the age of that boy and the fact that 40 people was watching without reporting it or calling the authorities.
The rate of teen sexual assault is increasing globally. I don't understand why one will rape a little girl were there are alot of harlots on the street if you most have sex. The most amazing is that about forty people watch it stream online without their consent alert them that that little girl is going through the most evil from his fellow human beings and not animals or spirit. The world is starting to be devoid or moral conscience and responsibility towards other people. Personal gain and greed has taken over people have evolved into a public oriented individual to a self serving individual. This is brought to us by economic, economics teaches us profits and income but doesnt teach us moral obligation over peoples dignity, rights and respect to all life forms and environment.

That should be the case. Since the perpetrator is just 14 years old, most probably he will be let off with a warning. Else, the human rights activists such as Rev. Pussy Jackson will accuse the cops of being racist and take out protest rallies and marches.
I am afraid you are right. Authorities do not seem so concerned about "privacy rights" of criminals, who come from within native, majority population.
I wouldnt be suprised either if perpetrator got away with psychological care at clinic. Liberals are more concerned about feelings of criminals, than justice for victims and victim families.

If this news is true, this is just sickening. 40 people watched the stream and didn't even think of calling for help. What has this world gone to? Considering this is a minor, what penalty would he receive?
This reminded me of that video of 4 teens abusing a mentally-ill guy, it seem that it's becoming more common for them to brazenly advertise their hatred and contempt for others while desensitized people just watch the spectacle.
BTW, was that abuse video also taken in Chicago? Whatever happened to the place? I don't live in the US but I don't remember hearing Chicago as a dangerous place when I was a kid.

I certainly don't support it, but I somehow understand how a man could want to rape a woman, but why filming it, and streaming it?

It's not shocking nowadays to see such videos. Such creeps just take videos of women being beaten up or assaulted and upload it live for fame and then people on the roads just watch the molesters without even blinking their eye. Nobody even has the courage or humanity to report these crimes and then others talk about the police and the law not taking any harsh steps against such criminals.
