Didn't this last rumor with the potential ban of bitcoin start with one twitter announcement of a newspaper that even had no real source to quote?
Theoretically it could all be based on a trainee somewhere in that newspaper who set up that tweet because he wanted to invest his 50 dollars salary in cheap coins.

I am not that sure how the supposed rumuor began though what I think is that this won’t last that long. China will look pretty weak when they start to see how many people purchasing coins from the other bitcoin exchanges and from the other people that are holding coins. There is little that they can do to stop it. As long as there is an active network for the project then the ICO will be a successful one.

If there is a chance that China shuts the Internet down then that is where people have a little bit more trouble.

China is laughing all day for the past few days because the whole world is under its control and influence. The recent news and rumors of new are all testifying to the fact of how powerful can China be in almost aspects of global play...not just in cryptocurrency really.

Well instead of counting its teeth while laughter, why don't we ignore China and its government!
Everyone here and there just talking about China ban. This is only creating unnecessary fear among small traders who dont know A B C of trading.
I am pretty sure China never going to put ban on their first love that is cryptocurrency. It is just an attempt either state-planned or someone faked just to make China in limelight.

need an understanding in looking at what you write about the power of China that I do not feel.
this is really a very unimportant rumor.

The markets don't think so. Look at the way the price has tanked. We are almost 20% down from the peak and the cause is nothing but Chinese rumours. If this is the effect of Chinese rumours, think what will happen if China actually takes action.

The recent news and rumors of new are all testifying to the fact of how powerful can China be in almost aspects of global play

here is a thought:
all these rumors, news and FUD are in English not in Chinese. in reality it is the English news sites that are making a false translation of the reality and spread it among us.
so who is to blame here really? those who are telling us "China banned bitcoin"? or the Chinese who are only regulating exchanges and banning scammy ICOs?
or perhaps those weak hands who never understood what bitcoin really is, (a decentralized peer to peer cash) and fear on the most irrelevant news?!

Exactly my thought. I'm not sure though if the media is even to blame for this one. The community itself was pretty fast to turn "China says ICOs are illegal securities" into "CHINA BANS BITCOIN!!111". The FUD was in our midst all along.

However, seeing how Chinese exchanges have heavily suppressed prices right now, there might be more to it than just a bad translation. Nonetheless it almost seems like the Chinese statements are intentionally vague to keep Chinese traders in check.

China has impact on everything because they have hands on almost anything you can think of. But it does not mean that they have control on everything. When bad news pops up it is natural that panic happens. Price falls but the support from outside China is intact. keeps the price back where it should be.

Interesting perspective!!

Having lived and doing business in China for over 10 years, this just looks like another long term strategy China is playing!

Banning ICOs is definitely a good move, because they have to control scammers or at least the ones the government does not approve of!

They probably know the price of BTC will dip because in general the mainlanders are easily panicked, taking the china stock collapse for example...

Now the Chinese government have probably been scooping up the cheap BTC on their own local exchanges and strengthen their control over BTC prices at least in their local exchanges then find ways to influence foreign exchanges using the BTCs they scooped up these couple of days...

Evil yet smart....

The news coming out of China is having a major influence in the crypto currency market is simply because of the panic involved with the investors as they are not sure what the future holds and those who worry would sell off their coins and that could in fact drive the market down and just wait for a few days and i am sure that the market will recover eventually, but for the moment they are influencing the market after a very long gap.

The main purpose of China is to Promote there own currency not World Currency , In every field
Such as whatsapp is popular all over world but its banned in China and they are using Wechat.
they have launched their own Crypto currency.
Small traders of China Export outside China but how much they import in china a big question

China is playing with us ... they Shown the power when bitcoin price fall down by 400$ in seconds

Why a government that controls everything will let the people use a coin that they could not control?

When The government plans this things then how they can control , its just politics

China has a major impact on crypto but there are other alternatives. Don't panic just hodl, everything is going to be fine long term. Actually china is stupid, they dumped their btc on to exchanges and they will regret it very very hard Smiley. Someone wise said once, CHINA BANS SOMETHING? just buy it !!

China banned ICOs which is a good move. That however as you said does not mean that we should invest in ICOs. Most of them end up being scam so I don't really understand why do people cry about that. China is basically saving their own money for them.

Thant may be the point They want to save people money. 65% of ICo runaway with people money

I'll buy that. I'm an american and I realize how corrupt and backward
the mainstream media is, especially news that's on the internet.  I don't believe
2/3 of it, and I'm skeptical about the remaining 1/3rd.  So yeah, China is at least
shaking their collective head if not laughing outright.  It's sad that journalism
hasn't evolved from the yellow journalism started by Hearst back in the 1800s.

Why it came to this sad state? Well, China knows how to plan and it has a long-range goals and one thing is for sure Bitcoin and cryptocurrency may not be included in that global domination vision.

Right now, China can show a tantrum and the whole world can shake. Can you feel now the power of China all over your body (hell, am even using a body wash Made in China!)?
